The Redacted SCP [SCP -0]

Project Overview

The Redacted SCP [SCP -0]

This project began as a writing challenge: to take my original character, Whinot Toonish, and rewrite him as a fully realized SCP entry. The finished document has since grown into something more, a meta narrative that examines the later wave of “god-tier” anomalies that entered the SCP mythos. The kind of entries that are essentially omnipotent, uncontainable, and exist solely so the Foundation (and the reader) has to live with them.

I’m now adapting that entry into a full dramatic reading in the style of The Volgun. I’ve been a fan of the SCP Foundation ever since I discovered it through his channel. With his series currently on hiatus, I wanted to create something in the same spirit — a straightforward, in-universe lecture-style reading of an SCP document, delivered as if it were a legitimate orientation briefing for junior researchers.

Because the document contains a large number of interview logs and researcher notes, there are many character roles available, ranging from short appearances to major recurring parts. Actors are encouraged to audition for multiple roles if they wish.

Before you audition:

  • Clear audio is required. An XLR microphone is preferred but not mandatory — good quality is what matters.

  • Basic familiarity with the SCP Foundation is strongly recommended. You don’t need to be an expert, but understanding the tone and setting will help.

  • I highly recommend listening to a few of The Volgun’s readings so you can get a clear sense of the style and energy we’re aiming for.

  • Multiple takes of each line are encouraged, but not necessary.

  • You may use whatever accent you feel fits the character (or none at all). Personality is what matters most.

  • For the paid roles, you must have Paypal, Cashapp or Venmo.

For the purpose of communication and group connectivity throughout this project, a work based discord server has been created. For those who do not have, or don't wish to use Discord, work will be conducted via email.

You must be 17 or older to audition.

Important note:
SCP-[-0] is not, and will never be, a real SCP Foundation entry. This project is purely a fan work created for fun, drama, and a bit of pointed commentary on the genre.

  • Notes to Follow!

    Hey-HEY Everybody!

We have just over 2 weeks until auditions closed up and after listening back to the current set of -WOW- 65! I cant express just how ecstatic I am by so many of these! I sat down for 3 straight hours reviewing again and again, trying to narrow down the options, and theres STILL a lot of debate!

But, theres still 18 days to go, and new auditions are still coming in!
So starting today, Im going to start leaving reviews on a few! Some will be notes, little requests as far as your approach, maybe about inflection, or perhaps sound quality. Although I may reach out to some of you, and request to hear you read a completely different character. I wont lie, some of you have dynamite voices, and Im tempted to see how well they match up with other roles!

To those who do not receive any notes as far as your audition, It doesn't mean that the answer is 'no'. Theres a shocking number of you who gave me precisely what I was looking for, but i've yet to make a final decision.

Of course any response I leave is purely up to you, as far as what comes next. If you aren't comfortable in roles beyond what you've already auditioned for, I fully understand, and your choice to decline will have no effect on my overall casting decision.

For those of you who listed demo reels either in your audition, or on your CCC Profile, I have taken the time to listen to them, and in a few cases, listen to past submissions you've made, to better know your voice and make these suggestions.

Remember, theres still 18 days left to audition! Best of luck to all of you! I cant wait to see who throws their hat into the ring next!

  • Funding has been Found! Sort of!

Call it good fortune, call it destiny, regardless of what you may say, More roles are now paid spots.

I want to also take this time to say how excited I am to see so many submissions! It hasn't been a full week yet and already I see 42 auditions! I wont lie, I've already listened to a handful, and what Ive heard so far is promising! I cant wait to sit down and go through each one after Halloween!
Best of luck to all of you! Im eager to hear more!

This is the primary voice of the entire reading. You will be guiding the audience (and a room of junior researchers) through the full document from start to finish. This is the longest role by a significant margin, totaling roughly a half hour of dialogue.

Voice Requirements

Male or female
Confident, measured, and professionally calm.

Think of a senior researcher who has given this exact orientation lecture dozens of times and finds nothing particularly remarkable about the content anymore.

Delivery should feel like a real class being taught: clear, controlled pacing, dry teacherly humor in small doses, and zero urgency - even when describing things that should be terrifying.

The scarier the material gets, the more even and unbothered the delivery should remain.

Important note for the audition
I need someone who can hold a steady, professional “lecturer” register for a long runtime.

Please listen to the reference video provided for the overall energy and professionalism I’m looking for.

Best of luck.

  • SCP-[-0] consistently displays a jovial, friendly demeanor with occasional sarcasm. It has also expressed fondness for the company of others. For this reason, Foundation personnel are permitted to interact with SCP-[-0] should they knowingly find themselves in its presence.

  • If recovered, SCP-[-0]-A is to be stored in a standard anomalous item locker at Site-██ and is not to be issued to personnel without Level 4 clearance and O5 approval, pending retrieval by SCP-[-0].

  • It is fully capable of erasing the Foundation from continuity, of neutralizing every anomaly in this universe, or of allowing the entire structure to collapse. It has chosen to do none of these things... Personnel are advised to consider carefully what would follow if that preference ever changed.

This is the second-longest role in the project (after the Narrator). Dr. ██████ is the primary Foundation interviewer throughout the document and appears in most of the interviews and tests, holding around 10 minutes of dialogue total.

Length:
Consistent appearance, about 10-12 minutes

Voice Description

Male.

Age range: 35–55 preferred.

Clinical, controlled, and patient — the kind of person who has conducted hundreds of interviews with anomalous entities and rarely loses composure.

Delivery should stay measured and professional for nearly the entire runtime.

The single most important moment is the final interview, where that control is forcibly taken away. That crack needs to feel significant precisely because the character has been so steady up to that point.

Think calm authority rather than coldness (JK Simmons or David Strathairn energy is a strong reference)

This role needs someone who can make stillness and control feel intentional, then convincingly lose it when the moment comes.

  • We have a theory. I’d like you to focus on the memory of this individual. We believe you may have been speaking to a person of interest with an unusual appearance.

  • Seeing as you already know my name, would you mind stating yours for the record?

  • The fact remains that by allowing us to document you this thoroughly — and by affecting our story the way you have — you have directly violated the rules you set for yourself. There is something you are not telling us. Why are you here?

D-Class personnel interviewed about his encounter with SCP-[-0].

Length:
Short interview, 3-5 minutes

Voice Description
Male
Age range: 30–50

Rough, working-class, gravelly voice.

Unfiltered, impatient with Foundation formality, and quick to swear.

Starts the interview irritated and defensive, talking fast when annoyed.

Needs a clear shift mid-interview into something quieter and more unsettled once he starts realizing what he actually saw.

Think bitter, cornered, and funny out of self-preservation rather than charm (Danny McBride energy is a solid reference)

The most important part of this performance is selling the pivot from casual venting to quiet horror without it feeling forced.

Researcher interviewed about their repeated interactions with SCP-[-0] (believed at the time to be an office intern).

Length:
Short interview, 3-5 minutes

Voice Description
Age range: 35–55 (can be male or female)

Warm, mildly academic, and naturally positive.

Speaks about “the intern” with genuine fondness and a touch of pride early on — the tone of someone talking about a favorite, hardworking employee.

As the interview progresses, that warmth should gradually fray. By the end, the distress should feel real rather than performed.

Think kindly, slightly oblivious middle-manager type who is suddenly out of their depth.

The key to this performance is selling the slow shift from comfortable affection to quiet, growing unease.

  • (Reflecting fondly, while realizing that it was mostly one sided) I remember once to show his 'appreciation' for my work, he surprised me with a care package of dark chocolate… I barely remember even mentioning it to anyone else. Mobile Task Force operative interviewed about his encounters with SCP-[-0] during field operations.

Length:
Short interview, 3-5 minutes

Voice Description

Age range: 25–35

Casual, quick-talking, and mildly sarcastic.

Exhausted but articulate — the kind of person who’s seen so much that nothing really shocks him anymore.

Delivery should stay mostly unbothered and dry even while describing completely absurd events.

The only real crack in the performance comes at the very end, when the horror finally registers. That moment should hit harder because of how casual everything before it was.

Think smooth, verbal, and a little tired of his own job (Nathan Fillion / Chris Pratt energy is a solid reference)

Note: This character is intentionally written as a nod to Wolf 359. A Zach Valenti-style performance would be ideal, but I’m more interested in the energy and attitude than a voice match.

Junior Researcher interviewed about her interactions with SCP-[-0] during Dr. Miller’s orientation lectures.

Length:
Short interview, 3-5 minutes

Voice Description

Age range: 20–30

Warm, sincere, and naturally chatty.

Completely unguarded — she genuinely likes the person she’s talking about and has no suspicion at all.

Speaks about SCP-[-0] the way someone talks about a friendly, slightly quirky coworker or older sibling she enjoys being around.

This is the softest and most earnest voice of the preliminary interviews. The warmth should stay consistent the entire way through.

The key is sincerity. She’s not building toward a horror realization — she’s just fondly describing someone she considers a friend.

  • (calmly)The guy from Dr. Miller's lectures? Pretty nice guy. He usually brings donuts for the others.

  • (speaking fondly) He's all smiles before every lecture. Pretty much always the first one to show up, and the last one to leave. And you know, not every anomaly we cover is the most interesting thing in the world, but I've never really seen him falter from that same, simple joy. I swear it's his favorite place on Earth

  • I really only see him during the lectures… it's odd but, he doesn't really talk about himself that much. I guess he's just such a character, it's hard to notice.

Foundation researcher whose primary appearance is a formal note requesting O5 intervention.

Voice Description

Age range: 25–35

Articulate but clearly frayed.

Her main note should feel like a real, escalating complaint rather than dry commentary — someone who has been dealing with this for weeks and is finally saying it out loud.

Closer to burnout than weary acceptance.

Think a sharp professional who knows the request probably won’t change anything, but still needs to get it on the record.

The key is sustained frustration. This isn’t a quick sarcastic aside — it’s someone hitting a wall.

  • So for the last ██ weeks, there's been some 'thing' moving through the Foundation, taking jobs that don't exist and making everyone fall in love with it. All we've managed so far is showing up after the damage has been done and learning from it."

  • We handle genuine threats on a daily basis — monsters, phenomena, things that shouldn't be — but at least they have rules. Something that sets them off, a boundary we can work with. This feels like we're just along for the ride.

Recurring Foundation researcher and the clearest skeptical voice throughout the document. Appears in multiple notes and testing logs.

Voice Description

Male or Female
Age range: 40–55

Dry, wary, and understated.

Speaks in short, pointed observations rather than long explanations.

Already convinced something is wrong and is quietly building the case rather than trying to figure SCP [-0] out.

Low energy but sharp — the quiet one in the room who is usually right.

Delivery should feel minimal and watchful rather than confrontational (Giancarlo Esposito energy is a strong reference)

This role works best when the actor doesn’t raise their voice. The skepticism should come through restraint, not intensity.

  • I know he's not the most weird thing we've ever contained but. There's something seriously wrong with this guy…

  • The fact that our Scranton Reality Anchors failed to register any change in Humes during this seemingly instantaneous change in reality is a little concerning. Voice Description

Male
Age range: 30–45

Higher-strung and more reactive than the other researchers.

Starts controlled but has a shorter fuse; when he breaks, the outburst needs to feel genuinely frustrated and human rather than purely comedic.

Think someone who takes the job personally and has been pushed too far (younger Bryan Cranston / high-strung professional energy)

This is the pressure-valve character. The performance should feel like a thin lid on something volatile.

Foundation researcher who appears in several testing notes. Provides dry observational commentary.

Voice Description

Male
Age range: 30–50

Slow, understated, and deadpan.

Humor should come from saying absurd things in a completely flat, procedural voice rather than from energy or sarcasm.

Needs a clear shift in tone for the second line — earlier lines can be dryly amused, but that final observation should carry genuine unease.

Think quiet, unhurried, and professorial (the driest person in the room rather than the loudest)

The key is restraint. The comedy and the discomfort both work best when the delivery stays low-key.
