The World Beyond SMP
The World Beyond SMP is a scripted Minecraft SMP inspired by projects such as the Unstable SMP, built around three protagonists telling interconnected stories through their own POVs while a larger cast makes up the world around them.
The goal is to make something that feels like an actual SMP rather than a traditional Minecraft roleplay. There will be planned storylines, major events, and an overall direction, but much of the story will come from the characters, their relationships, conflicts, decisions, and what happens naturally while recording.
Characters will essentially be fictionalized versions of ourselves. You are still playing a character, but you don't need a completely separate identity, voice, or personality unless you want one.
Roleplay will primarily be handled through improv, with planned scenes or outcomes used when necessary.
This is not an actual SMP like I said it is like the Unstable SMP in regards of how it will be made
Protagonists
The project will officially follow three protagonist POVs, with each protagonist creating their own series within the SMP.
Being a protagonist also comes with responsibility. You will be expected to develop your own storylines, interact and work with the cast, and organize the recording sessions needed for your POV. If your story needs specific people, temporary characters, body actors meant to be killed, or something similar, you should be willing to reach out and organize it.
While I (Ivan) am the creator of The World Beyond SMP and will oversee the larger project, the other two protagonists will have significant freedom to mold the SMP around the stories they want to tell. I don't want you waiting for me to hand you a storyline you should be willing to help create one.
The three POVs also won't constantly overlap. Our stories may cross over, something may happen exclusively within one POV, or we may have no interaction at all for periods of time.
SMP Members
SMP Members make up the majority of the cast and wider population of the server.
You will create your own character, develop relationships, participate in storylines, and help make the SMP feel like a living world. You could become someone's friend, enemy, ally, rival, partner, faction member, or something completely different depending on how things develop.
Being an SMP Member does not make you a background character. You are encouraged to develop your own goals, relationships, conflicts, and stories.
SMP Members are not expected to record or edit their own POVs. If you choose to record, you may only publicly post pre-approved behind-the-scenes content from the project.
SMP Member / Builder
This is a normal SMP Member role with the additional responsibility of occasionally helping with builds needed for upcoming storylines, locations, or events.
Because of this, you may sometimes receive limited behind-the-scenes information. Anything learned through production must remain separate from what your character actually knows.
SMP Canon
If The World Beyond SMP existed as a real server, it would be a private, invite-only SMP with around 40 members.
Our story begins approximately one month after the SMP originally opened. Friendships, enemies, groups, bases, reputations, and pieces of history already exist before the audience enters the story.
Some protagonists may have been there since the beginning, while others can enter later.
My protagonist begins as a new invite filling the space left behind by a permanently dead player. That player will never physically appear and can simply have a fake name, but they may have become surprisingly important during their short time on the SMP.
My character never knew them, while many others did. Their relationships, possessions, accomplishments, enemies, and unfinished business can continue affecting my character as he unknowingly steps into the space they left behind.
The beginning of our story also marks the start of Month 2, when the Nether has just opened. Existing players have a month's worth of Overworld progression, but the Nether is new territory for everyone.
At the beginning of the in canon Month 3, the End opens.
The SMP uses a three-life system. Once someone loses all three lives, their character is permanently dead. Death can still affect the world afterward through the people, possessions, builds, and unfinished stories they leave behind.
Certain illegal items also exist within the SMP and can become part of stories involving theft, trading, hiding, conflict, or whatever else players create around them.
Exploits are not freely allowed, but an exploit or unusual Minecraft mechanic may occasionally be used as a story point if we decide it would be fun enough to take a shot at.
The world also contains Sculk Shrinkers, devices capable of spreading Sculk and shrinking the amount of safe territory available to players. Naturally placed Sculk Shriekers are active, meaning Sculk can genuinely result in a Warden being summoned.
These are the rules and gimmicks the fictional SMP operates under. How they actually become important is up to the stories we create with them.
Creating Your Character
We will provide the base lore of the world, but you will have a lot of freedom over your own character.
A shared Google Doc will contain the SMP lore alongside a section for each player to write their character information. Everyone will be able to read these sections so members can find opportunities to connect their stories.
If you see someone's character and think your histories could intertwine, talk to them. Characters can already know each other, have history together, or meet for the first time during the SMP.
Members are also encouraged to organize their own lore sessions whenever they want to develop something between their characters.

You do not need a massive following or years of content creation experience.
We're looking for people who genuinely want to create, tell stories, work with others, and commit to a long-running project.
The World Beyond SMP is ultimately one shared world with three stories at its center, surrounded by characters whose lives can intersect with those stories in completely different ways.

Protagonist
2 Protagonists needed
You will be one of the three official protagonists of The World Beyond SMP and will create one of the three main POV series.
This role comes with more responsibility than simply playing a character. You will help develop your side of the story, work directly with other cast members, organize your own recording/lore sessions, and handle smaller production needs for your POV when necessary. I (Ivan) will oversee the larger project, but you will have plenty of freedom to shape your part of The World Beyond into your own story.

You may sometimes be trusted with information about upcoming events because of what you're building, so you must be able to separate production knowledge from what your character knows.
