Project Overview
UPDATE AUGUST 3RD 2019:
The first chapter of Whump World is here! Thanks so much to everyone who helped out with this!
I know it took forever to get this thing out and ready, but now that we have this first one completed we now have a much easier basis and structure for the future videos.
Didn't get casted for this one? Don't worry! There WILL be more casting calls opening up in the future for the next few stories we got planned & outlined. ;)
Stay tuned to my profile, DA page, Or YT channel for updates on those. In the meantime- please enjoy this chapter and if you liked it then be sure to COMMENT OR SHARE!
Thanks so much!!

UPDATE JULY 1ST 2019:
Hello there to any and all project followers!
I'm so sorry I wasn't able to update this page sooner, I had moved to a different state recently and only just now have gotten everything I need in order.
I just wanted to thank everyone so much who had auditioned or re-auditioned for this! There were some really great submissions on here! After much careful thought, I have closed the role and casted a narrator offsite.
I got the lines I need in and am now in the production process for the first chapter of this series. I am very excited to have this finally going!
It's been a long time coming and much trial and error, But one thing I have learned in my experience of producing series like these is that it is much better to have it right the first time around so what follows will be modeled on what I felt is correct and ready instead of what is incorrect and rushed.
I will be sure to update this page with a link and send the final production to everyone involved once it's complete! Thank you for your patience, I do believe it will be worth it!
Till then!

UPDATE MAY 23RD, 2019:
Hello anyone who happened to follow this project!
I have 2 Bad news and 2 Good news updates:
Bad news 1 is that shortly after I received the lines in for the episode, I had some unfortunate IRL events (AKA 'sh*t happens') that caused me to put ALL productions I had going on hiatus for quite some time.
Good News 1 is that things are finally calming down enough for me to get started again as I move to North Carolina in a few weeks and thus will have much more time and freedom to create and fully edit again once I get fully settled there.
Bad News 2 is that when I recently went back and looked over what I had before all this life crap went down, I realized I needed some narration retakes. My best friend who's a very creative voice acting consultant, and I actually took the time to literally record ourselves explaining exactly what we needed on the retakes and even gave some very helpful advice for it. As far as I am aware the casted narrator has pretty much refused to take the time like we have to even listen to our advice/direction and try to do any more retakes.
Good news 2: That being said, I am going to go ahead and reopen the role for the Narrator and will have some secondary auditions as well for it. You may be contacted by me for a secondary audition of the whole first page of the episode if you were a runner-up from the first auditions.
With the narrator, I am mostly looking for a sympathetic tone that can emphasize certain dramatic parts as well. Good annunciation and slower takes are key, don't try to rush through the sentences, if you need to stop and take a breath-it's totally ok to do so. It will all be edited out anyways for the final production. :)
I hope this helps and anyone who wants to try or re-try out for the narrator is more than welcome to up until the new deadline of June 14th.
I will also be more than happy to send anyone the first page of the episode for trying out upon request.
Please message me if you have any questions!
Getting back on track!

UPDATE MARCH 1ST, 2019:
Hello everyone! Thank you all so much for your auditions!!
I honestly never really expected to have over 100 people audition for this, But I truly appreciate the interest-and it makes me so happy & grateful to know that there are a good number of people who wanted to be apart of it! So now I will be announcing the cast of this first episode of “Whump World!”
Even with so many auditions, I can absolutely guarantee that I have listened to each & every one of them. There were a lot of close contenders, but my final choices here are made with a lot of thought and careful consideration put into it. So without further adieu, here are the final results of this casting:
CAST FOR EPISODE 1
Narrator: RECASTED-STAY TUNED!
Alek: CorporalCanada
Comforting Woman: KatRose
Antagonistic Man: Geist
Onlooker 1: Avaltah
Onlookers 2 & 3: Anthony Izzi
Onlooker 4: Sorenawayy
Congratulations to all of you! You should have received a private message from me with more details including the script (if needed for more lines) and asking for information to send your payment to, as well as confirming exactly how you would like to be credited in this.
BUT WAIT- THERE’S MORE!
For those who were not selected as a cast for this, the following auditioners will be put on file for any future episode characters needed. We are planning to have a rotating cast of the same whumpee characters featured in different whump scenerios, so if you are selected as a whumpee character, please note that you will most likely be needed again at some point in the future once it’s your turn to be featured as that character again in another whump story.

Greetings!
I see you have stumbled across this project casting call, Please allow me to quickly introduce myself.
You can call me Loor, and I have recently became addicted to reading whump stories. Hahaha.
So I'm sure you are wondering by now "What in God's name is a whump?!"
Well I'll explain in the best way I can.
Whumps are pretty much a slang defined as ""a fiction/fanfiction term to describe physical pain and/or mental abuse inflicted upon a character in a story."
(Link to urban dictionary definition provided.)
Now I know what you're thinking, "Why would you be addicted to reading terrible traumatic things like this?"
Well, for one it's completely fictional- two it can kind of be relatable on some aspects, and three is that it can showcase the worst parts of human nature to an extent that you'd want to see it to the end with a more satisfactory conclusion. (Kind of Similar to Stephen King novels.)
So then you might ask, what's the difference between a whump-story and any old story that features horrible torturous pain and trauma?
Well there are 3 unspoken rules with my personal writing/reading whumps.
1. The whumpee character is always fictional, and is required to be an inhuman being. (Vampire, werwolf, mer, zombie, immortal, winged, ect. ect.)
2. The whumpee never dies. No exception.
3. The whump story will ALWAYS end on a comfort, with a supporting comforting situation or character. (I.E. "it's gonna be ok.")
A comfort would basically be anything from where the character either rescued, saved, accepted, loved and simply comforted by another character; ect. ect. after the horrible & painful things happen to them.
Ok so now that you have a little better insight to what a whump is, Let me introduce you to a new and unique thing I'll be trying out for My Youtube Channel, which currently has over 18k subscibers as well as some fan-made audio drama series that I have done in the past. So rest assured, I do have a good bit of experience in doing these.
"Whump World!" (This is still kind of a working title, sorry if it's not very creative, but feel free to give any alternate title suggestions!)
Whump World (working title) would be a dramatic narrational reading series of short whump stories that are submitted to or collaboratively written with me.
These stories would usually be around 14-1500 words or so & are converted or originally written in a way to be spoken as an 10-15 minute oneshot audio-drama.
The Narration is the big bulk of it of course, but there will also be very short speaking roles for the characters as well as sound effects and suspenseful bgm.
Whatever you may think of whumps or audio-dramas in general, I do believe this project is worth in giving a shot and trying something new & unique that nobody's really done before.
SO! We currently got one 'pilot' episode of this project written and ready to be read and recorded for.
These are the roles we will need for this, some of these may be recurring roles for future videos, you will be notified if so.
This particular whump story is based on a prompt/outline of a merman character who's put in an inhospitable environment. Escaping a lab only to find himself trapped and hurt in the middle of a city, nowhere near the ocean.
Main roles:
1. A FEMALE NARRATOR. (MOST IMPORTANT!!) It goes without saying that the Narrator will have the bulk of the lines and also is super crucial in making these readings engaging and entertaining. These are short stories so while we could potentially have different narrators for different storylines, it would be preferred to have a main one to go to for a least a good number of these, or at the very least the ones we're featuring with the same character. We want to go with a female tone to describe some of the more painful situations in a way that can be smooth and engaging. Great thing about this role is that it's not a live reading, so you can mess up as many times as you want until you get it right, I can handle any and all audio editing here.
Here are some sample lines from the first story you can try and send in as an audition. Looking for a pleasant sounding voice that can express dramatic tones. Again, this is a whump story, so some of these lines and situations may make you a tiny bit uncomfortable if you aren't really into it.
1. "It was impossible to truly sleep with the rumbling movement of his container and the fear that grips his heart, but the merman manages to lull himself into a temporary calm, humming quietly with eyes squeezed shut. Wishfully pretending the rumble and the rocking water is nothing more than a storm that will pass."
2. "The world comes back into roaring focus all at once. Every inch of his body lights up with pain. Sharp pains, from shards of the broken tank embedded in his soft skin and fragile scales. A burning in his shoulder that flares if he moves it even the slightest. His scraped tail twitching with many scales broken and torn."
3. "Instead, a soft, gentle warmth envelops his upper body and wraps around him. It’s something cloth, heavy and dry but warm. The merman lifts his head and peeks his tired eyes up, wheezing little breaths falling from his lips."
2. ALEK: (Male character) Alek is the poor unfortunate merman whumpee character of this first story. He, like the other characters of the story will not have many speaking lines, but he will require some grunts, moans, gasps ect. ect. along with his few outloud thought lines.
Mostly Looking for a male voice that can sound more frightened, nervous and pleading rather than angry with tone.
Sample lines to send:
1. "I can’t take it! Make it stop, please, make it stop!"
2. "No, Wait, I can’t breathe because I-I’m not in water..."
3. "D-Don’t touch me!!"
3. THE COMFORTING WOMAN - This nameless character is the key 'comfort' element at the end of the story. She only has like 4 lines so I will post them all in which you can send in an audition for.
1. “Everyone move back! Give him some space!”
2. “Poor thing, You’re far from home, aren’t you?”
3. “Don’t be afraid. We’re going to help you.”
4. "Let's get you back home."
Minor Roles:
These are the one to two liner roles that are just some extra nameless character voices we'll need. All the lines and roles for these are as follows.
1. ONLOOKER 1 (Older woman)
-"What is that?"
- "Do you think it can understand us?"
2. ONLOOKERS 2 & 3. (TEENAGE MALES)
V1. "Touch it."
V2. "No you touch it!"
3. ONLOOKER 4 (TEENAGE FEMALE)
1. "He's gotta be fake, right?"
4. ANTAGONISTIC MAN
1. "Careful! You'll damage it!"
How to audition.
Please send your in auditions through this website, OR you can email it to me: Loorelle64 @ gmail.
Current deadline to audition is on March 1st 2019. But I am flexible with extensions.
I do believe this would be worth a shot in trying and I do have a feeling that more people than you expect probably would like to listen to this stuff, if pulled off in the right way.
I will need your help & cooperation in order to do this, so by all means-give it a shot and see where it goes. ;)
Please feel free to ask if you might have any questions that were not answered here.
Looking forward to it!
Best of luck!!

Shortlisting begins!
Hello all project auditioners & followers! We have 2 weeks till the audition deadline and already have over 60 auditions! :0 Starting today, I'm going to go ahead & shortlist some of my favorite auditions. As you probably know, shortlisting does NOT guarantee a casted role- But it does tell you that you're the runner ups in the race so to speak. Everyone and anyone is of course still welcome to audition here , & I will proceed to shortlist any future auditions that I do like as they come in. ALSO! There is an official Logo in the works for this project- so keep an eye out for it when it is complete! ;) Thanks so much for the continued interest & support on this. I am going to do my very best to make this as interesting & entertaining as possible for people. Till then! ;) Loor
