"Whump World!" Dramatic readings of some engaging short 'whump' stories.
Kimberly Clyne for Narrator
A FEMALE NARRATOR. (MOST IMPORTANT!!) It goes without saying that the Narrator will have the bulk of the lines and also is super crucial in making these readings engaging and entertaining. These are short stories so while we could potentially have different narrators for different storylines, it would be preferred to have a main one to go to for a least a good number of these, or at the very least the ones we're featuring with the same character. With the narrator, we're mostly looking for a sympathetic female tone that can emphasize certain dramatic parts as well. Good annunciation and slower takes are key, don't try to rush through the sentences, if you need to stop and take a breath-it's totally ok to do so. It will all be edited out anyways for the final production. We want the narrator to be able to describe some of the more painful situations in a way that can be smooth and engaging. Great thing about this role is that it's not a live reading, so you can mess up as many times as you want until you get it right, I can handle any and all audio editing here.
Here are some sample lines from the first story you can try and send in as an audition. Looking for a pleasant sounding voice that can express dramatic tones. Again, this is a whump story, so some of these lines and situations may make you a tiny bit uncomfortable if you aren't really into it.
1. "It was impossible to truly sleep with the rumbling movement of his container and the fear that grips his heart, but the merman manages to lull himself into a temporary calm, humming quietly with eyes squeezed shut. Wishfully pretending the rumble and the rocking water is nothing more than a storm that will pass."
2. "The world comes back into roaring focus all at once. Every inch of his body lights up with pain. Sharp pains, from shards of the broken tank embedded in his soft skin and fragile scales. A burning in his shoulder that flares if he moves it even the slightest. His scraped tail twitching with many scales broken and torn."
3. "Instead, a soft, gentle warmth envelops his upper body and wraps around him. It’s something cloth, heavy and dry but warm. The merman lifts his head and peeks his tired eyes up, wheezing little breaths falling from his lips."
Omg your voice is the NARRATOR!!!!!! PLEASE PICK HER!!!!!!!!
I appreciate your support! It means a lot to me. Thank you very much :)
