Hello! My name is Minyan and I'm seeking five voice actors for my visual novel. There are three male parts, one female part, and one part that could be played by a male or female. It is complete and has a following of people who would love to see voice acting included! You can see some of my other completed projects here: minyan.itch.io, and here fablesoft.itch.io

The story is about two best friends forced away from their home due to high taxes from their king. They decide to attempt a get rich quick scheme by posing as bodyguards for a noble, and hijinks ensue. One of the big themes is friendship, the relationship between the four characters as they go on their journey is the main focus. It's a fairly lighthearted story with a few twists and turns at the end. Of course, the romance plays a large part too. There are some steamy scenes but nothing beyond some detailed kissing (Paris' route might fog your computer screen but I swear there is no r18 content). This project is LGBTQ+ friendly. Ash's sprite is customizable and their gender and pronoun can be changed. More information about the game and screenshots can be found in the link above!

There are lots of other parts available save for the leads, though no one who has more than a few lines at a time. I plan on asking some people who aren’t quite fits for the character if they’d be interested in playing one or a few of these parts instead.

  • Cast List

    Thank you for auditioning for The Pretenders Guild! I want to take some time to go through all the auditions again so I can choose my ideal cast. I’ll let you know whether you were cast or not within the next week or so!

  • Non-lead speaking parts

    There are lots of other parts available save for the leads, though no one who has more than a few lines at a time. I plan on asking some people who aren’t quite fits for the character if they’d be interested in playing one or a few of these parts instead.   • Customizing Ash’s voice

    A big part of The Pretenders Guild is customization, you can change Ash’s hair and eye color, skin tone, and their background, and each change affects the story, some in larger ways than others. In keeping with this theme, I’m thinking that it would be really neat if you were able to change their voice as well. Therefore I’m going to be casting two male Ash voices and two female Ash voices. In case you’re wondering, yes, Dragon Age is a huge inspiration. Thank you!

Description: An ambitious person who doesn’t have problems bending the rules a little bit to get things done.

As part of the gameplay you can choose one of three different backgrounds, and it adjusts Ash’s personality slightly.

Reaver background: When they were a child, they were a part of a wealthy reaver family, that Paris’ family used to work for. Their father squandered all their money and they went broke, Ash tried to strike out on their own with a restaurant. It went well, but they never really got used to the commoners life, and can come off as a bit standoffish.
Note: Spoiled, complains a lot

Cubi background: They were abandoned in Belldale when they were an orphan, and have spent their whole life trying to prove themselves as worthy of love. Therefore, sometimes their pride can get in the way of logical decisions.
Note: Not afraid to get their hands dirty

Shika background: They lived in Belldale with their mother and lived a childhood of being teased for being Shika. As such they’ve overcompensated by putting on a facade of narcissism, and can come off as a bit standoffish. Their mother helped them get their chef’s apprenticeship by seducing their trainer (a reaver), and Ash has always sort of resented her for it, but didn’t want her sacrifice to be for nothing.
Note: More mature and collected

Has a tendency to talk to themselves in a quieter voice than how they normally speak
Usually smiling, I imagine them sounding very bright
Is a smart-ass

    Details: Paris has insulted Ash’s food, which unlike his, is not vegetarian

  • <Flustered>Oh sure, and you're not just going to try and pinch my nipple or something weird.
    Details: Paris has talked his way into Ash’s bedroll using the excuse of being cold. They’re onto his tricks, but Paris still has no shame.

  • <distressed>I don't want you to say whatever it is you're going to say like something's going wrong. I don't want your "just in case" words.
    Details: Paris and Ash are going into a dangerous situation and while Paris does, Ash doesn’t want to think about things not going according to plan.

Description: Rafael is a sociopath who finds it difficult to empathize with others. He’s an assassin and he plans on infiltrating the castle by posing as one of the prince’s bodyguards. He’s a skilled hunter, quiet, calm, logical. He has an almost insatiable curiosity. He’s never really been close to people because he’s Shika, so spending so much time with our three heroes he starts getting attached, and finds it difficult to do his job.

Tends to be rather monotone unless he’s curious or confused.
Sounds very calm and collected, rarely raises his voice

    ash "O-oh! Well, good..."
    ash "You know, I could tell just by looking at you that you were a chocolate man!”}

    actual line:
    <sincere, but still rather monotone/flat>>>That is wonderful... I am pleased that I express my love of chocolate so plainly.<<

    Details: Rafael can be a tad oblivious and misunderstands a lot of jokes and sarcasm.

    Details: Rafael is rather blunt about his affections.

    Details: Rafael has prevented a ship from being taken over by pirates by killing their captain. Should be threatening, but not in an aggressive way, more of a ‘the fact of the matter is if you don’t leave you’re dead too bro kind of way

Paris (Love interest, playboy)

Description: Paris is a Cubi playboy. He often acts like he doesn’t care about wealth but his pink silk shirt is the most expensive thing he owns and he treasures it. He secretly envies those with money. When he was a child his parents worked for a wealthy reaver in Belcat (If the player chooses to be reaver Ash, this wealthy reaver is Ash’s father). One day they had to take him to work because the nanny was busy. He was playing in the stables and accidentally started a fire by knocking over a lantern. He got horrible scars on one half of his face. His parents were fired because of that incident and accused of sabotage. They were arrested and Paris was left on his own. Ever since, Paris has had a rather strong bias against reavers.

Usually sounds very casual and friendly
Usually defaults to deadpan sarcasm when angry unless he’s really steaming

  • <frantic>What the saints were you thinking? You nearly got yourself killed!
    Details: Ash assisted Rafael in taking out a group of pirates and Paris is furious that they’d put themselves in danger like that.

    Details: Paris has talked his way into Ash’s bedroll using the excuse of being cold. They’re onto his tricks, but Paris still has no shame.

Description:  Braums is secretly the crowned prince, trying to make his way home after journeying through the kingdom to try and better understand his subjects. He has lived a very sheltered life and has a sense of entitlement that he’s only just become aware of and is trying to do something about— but it’s very slow going. He’s never been around people who treat him as casually as Ash and Paris do, and soon grows to enjoy it. He’s very smart but rather naive. Believes in the supernatural, and is afraid of thunderstorms.

  • <scared, breathless>I... I thought you were the... ghost...
    Details: They’ve heard ghost stories about the inn they were staying at, and Braums and Ash run into each other in the middle of the night. He’s scared out of his mind and more than a little melodramatic.

  • Don't be sorry, just be quiet.
    Details: Just after Braums has met the rest of the crew. He chastises them for being loud and when Ash apologizes this is his response. He’s still getting used to being away from his home and is still treating them like his servants at this point.

  • <flustered>I didn't mean to... I mean, I only intended a kiss, this is... Paris and Rafael are right over there!
    Details: Braums and Ash share their first kiss, and Ash gets a little friskier than he was ready for. He’s embarrassed but not exactly unwilling.
