Personality: Hardworking.  Worried about the days to come.

Farmers make a living doing growing enough food to feed the Empire.  However, everyone seems to take them for granted and pays no attention to their needs.  Without necessary protection from the World Army, bandits and thugs have begun to exploit the poor and vulnerable farmers.  Farmers are forced to do whatever it takes to protect their livelihoods.

Mercenary

Role assigned to: capt_eagle

Personality:  Gruff and rude.  Cares mostly about coin.

When the empire was first established, the World Army would actively serve the needs of the people.  Eventually, the empire's ambitions turned to conquest and the people's requests went unheard.  Theft, murder, and banditry surged over the next century, forcing the rich to rely on mercenaries for protection.  Over time, the supply for mercenaries allowed the common man to find an affordable mercenary, creating a profitable trade.  There's a mercenary for anything... for the right price.

  • (Frustrated, enemies appear) How many men must I stab today to get paid?

  • (Negotiating contract prices) Look missy, I don't know where you think you are.  We've barely got anyone at that price and you want a freakin' Manticore?

  • (Threatening) Hiring farmhands, old man?  I hope you've enough left to make your "payment".

Researcher

Role assigned to: aimeesmithva

Personality:  Callous and arrogant.  Research comes first.

Research is one of the most important investments of the empire, weapons research in particular.  Combined with funding from the large merchant houses, mages from all across the empire become researchers to get rich.  The high status, high pay, and high pride attracts many narcissists and sociopaths to this field.  Lacking the development of ethics in the field, researchers have developed a reputation for being cruel and heartless, doing whatever it takes to make their big breakthrough.

  • (Guard brings urgent news) Make it quick, there's research to be done.

  • (Without remorse) I didn't come all this way to be stopped by a few "regulations".  Dispose of them.

  • (When presented with incriminating evidence) So what if I did?  The contributions I make to the empire more than pay for their insignificant lives.
