Project Overview

Final Fantasy XIV is a critically-acclaimed fantasy-based MMORPG on PC and PlayStation consoles that follows the Warrior of Light, or your player character, through the realm as they aid the peoples of Eorzea and vanquish those who would threaten them.  It is currently on its third expansion and still going strong.

While most cutscenes in the later expansions are fully voice acted, some of the earlier cutscenes are not.  As it's unlikely that they will be officially voiced in the future, I want to present these scenes with voice acting to bring them to life in a new way.  This casting call covers the Crystal Tower storyline cutscenes and the cutscene unlocking the aesthetician, and while these are for the most part self-contained roles, I may call you back for future cutscenes involving these same characters if you're interested in reprising them.

This project is not paid, but I would like to create something that both existing fans and newcomers of the game would enjoy watching, as well as be something that we would enjoy putting together.  So, expect me to be friendly and professional in working with potential VAs for this project.  There is no required timeline for completion of lines, so no worries if you will have limited time to contribute, but I do expect to be able to hear from you every so often regarding progress, and I will help manage your progress in a relaxed but productive manner.  As a note, there is no adult content in these cutscenes (the game in general is not sexually explicit nor excessively gory), and the only profanity used is the word "damn".

I have all the footage for these cutscenes on hand and pre-mixed, so the only thing left to do is to add the voices and compile the videos together!  Which means that you can expect the finished videos fairly soon after all VAs get their lines in.  On that note, I'm looking forward to hearing your takes on these well-loved characters.

  • The long-awaited casting!

    After (very) much deliberation, I've come up with my cast list of the characters I'm able to cast with what I have right now! If I haven't cast them here, I've cast them at BTVA (you can see this audition's listing here: https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/members/Tomoyo-Ichijouji/casting-call/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Voicing-Cutscenes/ ), with maybe one or two auditions that were sent to me directly that were cast. I guarantee you, these were chosen with much care and as blind to name as possible, a lot because when I made unlabeled audition clips to compare the shortlisted auds with each other, I picked them having no memory who each audition was from, requiring me to look it up after I had finally picked. XD As previously stated, there are a handful of roles that I will be needing more auditions for that you can see as still being open below, and I'm planning to post a new audition listing for those characters once I have the characters I've cast confirmed (or, if need be, recast to understudies). If you are interested, though, you're free to send in auditions to the open roles to this post before then! And thanks again everyone for your abundance of patience in finally getting this cast, and I look forward to working with y'all who accept the roles!

  • My apologies for the lengthy delay!

    Due to some significant health issues and combined work overload that came up while I was deliberating over the auditions, I was unable to make progress on finalizing my decisions for quite some time, as the shortlisted auditions required careful scrutiny and lots of brain energy to properly consider them, which I did not have to spare for quite some weeks. My sincerest apologies for the subsequent long wait, and I wanted to reassure you all that this project has not left my mind in the meanwhile! I finally am able to make progress again, and I'm hoping to be able to cast a fair number of characters when I'm finally finished, but I believe a few characters will need to be put up for more auditions. Thank you so much again for your patience, everyone!

  • Down to last few choices of several roles!

    Just wanted to drop by and let people know that I'm getting close to deciding the final casting choices, after a rigorous process of comparison and shortlisting, involving me taking the shortlist auds and actually mixing them with the footage to see what really clicks with the character best in context (it's that intensive). I probably will be putting a few characters up for extended auditions as well though, mostly the ones who got the fewest auditions. Thanks for your continued patience as I make careful considerations of your auditions!

  • Auditions closed and under consideration!

    The auditions are currently closed and being reviewed to see which characters I'll be able to cast, after which I'll put up the remaining characters for a while longer (if any). I have gotten an amazing number of great auditions, and it'll be a tough decision for just about all of them! It will take me some days to consider them carefully, so I appreciate your patience while I do so. Thanks again for your support, everyone!

  • Adjusted listed deadline slightly

    I double checked the settings on this audition page, and it looked like the date was set a couple days before my intended deadline? It may have been that it doesn't include the deadline date as a day to submit. But either way, I've changed that so that you can still submit on Feb 13, tomorrow, as originally intended. And also... I have now listed this as a Featured casting call, due to a totally surprise gift of a Gold membership, which due to its anonymity I can't thank for personally, but consider this my heartfelt thanks regardless! An archeologist working with Cid Garlond's company.  He is matter-of-fact and direct, and respects Cid a great deal, but he has an air of seniority due to his older age.  I imagine he has a fairly low but formal voice, but I'm open to other interpretations as long as he has an English accent, standard across most characters from this universe.
