Days Gone: The Story of a Survivor is an Original Visual Novel created by Brandon Avery, (me!). The story circulates around a 14 year old girl named Julienne, and her 19 year old brother Everett. The siblings have lived in a root cellar (underground) since the outbreak began. However, due to dwindling supplies they are forced out of hiding and into the thick of the apocalypse.
Julienne is a shy, timid girl who truly idolizes her brother for keeping her safe during these horrid times. Her anxiety constantly gets the best of her and it puts the duo in tough situations. At first glance, Everett comes off as brave and selfless, but his own constant worry for the safety of his sister eats away at him.
Gameplay: As the siblings move throughout the story, take control of an alternating point of view system, of the story's 5 main characters. Every choice made will effect the story! While there is a "True" ending, there are no "wrong" endings. Each choice is meant to bring about an emotional response from the viewer/player. Days Gone is quite the emotional journey. While much of this story has a dark theme, there are certainly light hearted moments and other elements that will bring a smile (and hopefully a greater appreciation of the world we live in) to the viewer.

What to expect: So if you made it this far, this story has piqued your interest! That truly makes me happy and I can't wait to hear your auditions! Here is what will happen during the auditioning process and a glimpse into the recording process if casted.
1. I will do my best to give critique to as many auditions as I can. So if that interests you, please request it. I can't guarantee critique for everyone but I'll do what I can!
2. I will post updates on the casting call as often as necessary.
3. While not for certain, there is a possibility that there could be CALL BACKS. If there are many talented people for one role, I will see to it to have the call backs do a few extra lines.
4. Roles will be added for the supporting cast 2 days before the first deadline, the deadline for the casting call will then be extended for an additional time period (TBA), but the main cast will be finalized on the original date as scheduled. (It's all on one casting call, Main Cast Call takes place for November, Supporting characters through mid December)
5. A discord for the project will be set up for Voice Actors, and for those who want to follow the project. This discord will open up Mid-November.
6. Recording Process - the plan is to have the VN fully voiced by you talented VA's. While this project is not paid, I want to make the process for everyone enjoyable. Therefore, recording will be done in small chunks with decent sized recording periods. I know everyone likely has many projects, so I want to avoid overloading you all at once. :)
What is expected: These parts are non-negotiable!
1. You MUST be 18 or older to audition. (See disclaimer above)
2. Please record with no background noise, no reverb and no additional effects (normalize is fine). Auditions that have any of these things will be rejected.
3. Maintain professionalism - light hearted joking is fine, as I want everyone to get along and form bonds. But let's avoid the things that could upset others. Treat everyone how you want to be treated!
4. Always feel free to ask questions! If there's ever anything that is confusing send me a message either on the project itself, my CCC messages or in the discord server when it becomes available. Please do not add me on discord unless you have been casted, (I voice act as well and only add for projects I have been casted in!)

Julienne is the Main Character of Days Gone. She is also the only lead character that the viewer cannot make choices for. She has a major struggle with separation anxiety and fear of living in the apocalypse. Julienne has a deep admiration for her brother, but cannot seem to understand him anymore. In this apocalyptic world, Julienne has found it impossible to show her brother her love and appreciation. A "thank you" simply is not enough in her eyes.
While Julienne is timid and somewhat shy, she certainly is not afraid to ask for help. If she feels that she is in danger, Julienne's anxiety will let everyone know how she feels.

In response to Everett walking up the stairs of the root cellar.
"(anxious/pleading) Please, don't go! You don't know what's out there! What happens if you don't come back? I'll die if you leave Everett! We can just eat less for a while, maybe someone will come and-"
(Completely desperate scream) "EVERETT!!!"
(Narration) "He turned around and ran towards me with such speed. Panic setting in, not for his own safety, but for mine."
*Everett covers Julienne's mouth*
(muffled/hyperventilating) "Let me.....come wi-.....please."
In response to a joke from Lucille
" (forced) *slight giggle* " (Lucille is perplexed by Juliennes fake laugh) "(apologetic) N-no, it was funny.... Sorry, I guess I haven't heard a joke in years..."
Everett is the older brother of Julienne. Early on, he comes off a bit stoic and emotionless. However, as the story progresses, he begins do display a wide variety of emotions. Everett has become accustomed to overprotecting Julienne, due to her own behavior. He would do absolutely anything to keep Julienne alive. Everett is a very tough individual even though he appears scrawny and weak. He has somewhat of an "underdog" feel to him.
I am not looking for any voice replication of a famous voice actor. Please bring what you feel goes with the character.
Everett's voice is Medium. Please consider the emotion range of Kirito from SAO as an EMOTION reference.
In response to Julienne's scream
(firm/direct) (a loud whisper) "Are you out of your mind? You have any idea what could've heard you just now? You stay RIGHT next to me and do everything I say, understand?"
Narration
"How am I supposed to protect her anymore? It's not safe to keep travelling without shelter...She'll die if we don't stay."
*Malcolm asks a second time if the siblings have weapons hidden*
(Calm) "No weapons. We've tried to avoid fights as much as possible. That's what you want me to say...right?"
In response to another characters flirting
(honest) "I don't want to have sex with you, if that's what you're after. I'm not looking for trouble here...sorry."
Lucille is a hot-head who is very good at reading people. Having been through many unfortunate events in her life, she has always found a way to power through. Although she can be angered easily, Lucille truly looks for the best things life has to offer. She does have a difficulty of letting people close to her emotionally, but once that barrier is broken she really opens up and lets you see her for who she really is. Lucille is able to protect herself physically, but acts irrationally when her emotions get the best of her.
Lucille has a medium voice. A loose EMOTIONAL reference would be Asuka Langley from Evangelion.
Directing people to their bunks. (Blunt) "This is where you'll sleep. It's not much, but it's not like you did anything to earn it. Dinner is in an hour. If you need something....figure it out for yourself."
Notices Julienne's shorts are a bit too short.
(Honest, No snark or sarcasm) "You gotta be careful with shorts that short kid. Your brother can't always watch out for you. There's no laws here...well, not for everyone."
*Julienne points out that Lucille's shorts are shorter than hers*
"*genuine laugh*..Yeah...but I'm grown. You're what, 12?"
Someone has stolen from Lucille's bunk
(angry, irrational) "Alright. Which one of you took my shit? HUH!? You want what I got, go out there and find it yourself!!!"
Rudy is the leader in charge of the survivors' community. He looks and sounds tough, and considers himself a good leader. He makes rules for the community members, but doesn't follow them himself. Rudy is a prime example of Abuse of Power. Most survivors see him as a great man, who acts selflessly. Only a few have witnessed how despicable he truly is.
Rudy has a low voice.
(acting kind, generous) "Oh man...you look rough. How long were you guys out there for?
*his question goes unanswered*
(slightly annoyed) "I understand you don't want to give me any information. That's fine. If you don't want to talk, we'll take your weapons and send you on your way."
*he is informed that the person has no weapons*
(surprised) "No shit? You've been out there for 3 years with no weapons? (intimidating) You better start talking man..."
*after being told off by Lucille*
(cocky) "You're going out there at night?"
*Lucille responds*
"(intimidating/cocky/threatening) Yeah...okay. Not with my weapons you're not."
(under breath) Bitch....
Telling off Malcolm
(Angry) "I've got plenty of shit to do, and watching your back isn't one of 'em Scobee!"
*pronounced Scoe-bee
Malcolm "Scobee" is a guard for the Survivors' Community. He is extremely kind and caring, and always watches out for others, even jerks. Malcolm does a great job of keeping the community safe, as no threat has ever reached their walls. Although he lets Rudy take the praise for that. Malcolm is Lucille's closest friend, but he still knows little about her. He knows her secrets, and never told anyone, but she doesn't let him close emotionally. Malcolm is genuinely a "good person". He tries his best to be light hearted and friendly with kids and teens. Malcolm might be the last person on earth who still knows what compassion is. Malcolm also carries a rifle with him when patrolling the fences.
Malcolm has a medium to medium-low voice.
(Friendly/jokingly) "Well, no. If I thought you were a threat, you wouldn't have gotten to this gate."
(honest/genuine) "Look man, I understand. I've got a sister too.....You're doing the right thing."
Trying to calm Lucille down
(light hearted but concerned) "You gonna tell me what happened, or are you gonna put that knife in my neck?"
(Alert) "Get down!!"
Trying to be a mentor for Rudy
(Honest) "Dude...I know there's a lot going on right now, but you can't treat these people like this. We all started the same right? Don't rule them.....LEAD them."
