Westside Story - A New Vegas Noir (Fallout: New Vegas quest mod; round 1)

Westside Story - A New Vegas Noir (Fallout: New Vegas quest mod; round 1)

Project Overview

Westside Story - A New Vegas Noir is an ambitious, large-scale quest mod for Fallout: New Vegas. Featuring a branching, multi-hour RPG storyline, it is brimming with unique, layered characters and idiosyncratic factions waiting to be brought to life by your performance.

Due to both the size of the cast and the mod still being a work in progress, this is only the first of multiple casting calls to be launched this year. The currently targeted release window is in the back half of 2026.

SETTING:

Westside Story is set during the events of Fallout: New Vegas, taking place in the post-apocalyptic ruins of Sin City and the surrounding Mojave Desert.

STORY:

Centered around the eponymous district of Westside, this is a detective story in which the player is tasked with tracking down a missing person. Embarking on an investigative odyssey through the vast urban sprawl, they'll meet its motley denizens, connect dots aplenty and become entangled in a far-reaching conspiracy spanning the entire city.

REQUIREMENTS:

You should have a Blue Yeti microphone with a pop filter at minimum to meet the desired audio quality. Once cast, the lines will be transferred to you in the form of a spreadsheet. I would prefer to communicate via Discord DMs. You don't need to worry about audio processing and line splitting, I'll inflict that particular vexation on myself.

Latest Updates

  • The first round is officially closed! But keep an eye out for round #2!

As of today all roles on offer are cast, officially marking the end for the first round of auditions for 'Westside Story: A New Vegas Noir."

I am positively overwhelmed by your overall interest in the project and its characters - at 209 submissions from over 70 actors, it was often difficult to pick favorites, and there are more than a few among you whom I would've loved to offer a role but simply wasn't able to at this time.

Luckily however, this was only the first of at least 3 rounds of auditions, as dozens of roles have yet to be filled! The second round is currently estimated to launch in the late spring or early summer of this year.

So: whether you didn't receive a role this time around, are hungry for bigger and better parts or simply want to keep tabs on the project, consider yourself cordially invited to participate in these future rounds and make sure you don't miss 'em by following my CastingCallClub account and/or my socials, linked below:

A thousand thanks, and see you in round 2!

  • It's the final countdown!

Attention, everyone: there are just a little over 24 hours remaining before the deadline runs out and I start assigning roles - if you'd like to apply for this first round of auditions, please make sure to do so beforehand! The second round likely won't launch before the late spring / early summer. (But it will feature a larger selection of characters to pick from than this current round, so hopefully you'll find it worth the wait.)

I am absolutely blown away by both the quality and quantity of the submissions received so far and sincerely thank all of you for your interest in the project.

    Good luck, have fun!

    ElPascal

  • I'm moving the deadline forward!

    Hello everyone,

due to the unexpectedly high volume of auditions received in these first few days, I have chosen to cut this round of auditions short by about a week; the new deadline for submissions is now Saturday, February 21st. If you'd like to be considered for a role, please make sure to submit your lines until such time. Do also mind that two additional roles have been added to the Casting Call Page yesterday, which have so far received less attention than some of the original postings and may thus offer you better prospects of being cast.

Thank you very much for your interest!

    ElPascal

*THIS ROLE HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN FROM THE CASTING CALL DUE TO A NEED FOR REVISIONS TO THE SCRIPT THAT HAS EMERGED ON SHORT NOTICE. IT WILL BE RE-OFFERED AT A LATER DATE. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.*

Duchess Danielle is a Shakespeare-trained actress and the de-facto leader of the Thespian Guild, a monarchic organization grown out of a pre-war acting troupe. A woman of great power, talent and intellect, she exudes stage presence, aristocratic dignity and cold calculation in equal measure. As the player encounters her, she is caught up in a dispute around the succession to the organization's throne and will stop at nothing to ensure the crown ends up on her head - after all, every other scenario would result in her certain death.

In keeping with the Guild's tradition of integrating their canonical texts into their vernacular, her manner of speech is dense and rhetorical, dripping with theatrical quotes and literary allusions.

NOTE: While any North American accent would be fine for her, a posh or even Shakespearean British one would also be thematically apt.

  • In my misguided tolerance, I let his wantonness freely proliferate - and now, for my failure to trim the bud, the whole rank growth must be uprooted, tree, fruit and serpent all.

  • {Announcing a celebratory speech to a banquet hall full of people; paraphrasing 'Titus Andronicus'}Thespis’ sons and daughters, break the parle. The feast has been served, which I’ve ordained to an honorable end, for peace, for love, for league, and good to all: please you, therefore, draw nigh and take your places!

A chemistry genius, prolific drug producer and master schemer, Yunker has turned himself from an outcast vault scientist to a criminal kingpin. Whichever room he finds himself in, his working assumption is that he is far and away the smartest person in it, which usually holds true. A skilled manipulator, he is apt to bend others to his will through bribery, threats and sheer rhetorical prowess - however, if one applies only a bit of pressure, stress fractures appear on the facade of his authoritative persona, revealing the fragile narcissist hiding underneath.

  • As you can tell, the Tampicos are in the chem business. And seeing as I'm far and away the best chemist this side of the High Sierra, that means I {emph}am the Tampicos' chem business.

  • The respect of addicts, drifters and outcasts does not go particularly far. They’re useful as reprobates go, and that’s all our relationship is based on. Mutual utility. Suits me fine.

  • {Addressing a large room full of people; referring to himself} If this organization is to survive, it will need a real leader, one who has the foresight and guts to meet the world on its terms, not hide from it!

Her promise to the ladies of the night: while on her premises and in exchange for a fixed cut of their income, they are free to do their business with whom they please, in any way they please, secure in the knowledge that Tilly and her all-female staff will come down hard and violently on any abusive johns or former pimps who come ambling along. It's a good recipe for success - and conflict with the competition, who still have some unsettled scores with the Khans.

  • "Command" wants us to reinforce his squad, huh? Funny - last Comm Officer Green told me, Bullhead ordered Bui to return to post, if only it weren't for "radio troubles" that conveniently popped up the moment he heard there's a bounty to claim and notorious outlaws to fry.

  • {Disgust}The pampered titch got himself assigned to some backwater outpost so the press can't call him a draft dodger once he inevitably runs for office. This is just him seizing an opportunity to add "war hero" to his CV.

  • Damn it to hell. If I can't prevent this shitshow, I may as well use it for the Rangers’ benefit, but don't think I'll like it. We'll be there. Now get out of my sight.

  • Alright, we've allotted one helping of killing gear per head - a primary weapon and three explosives: a standard-issue service rifle, chambered in 5.56 mm and three molotovs, homecooked with love.

  • My Mom was in the Rangers, she told me all about these people. Could glass that tacky theater of theirs with a Big Kid and wouldn't hit a single innocent.

  • Careful not to lead 'em too much, they're slow as shit.

A member of the Jackals, a gang of cannibalistic raiders dwelling in the desert. Caught in the act of ransacking a trading post, he tries to pretend to be the owner, despite this clearly not being the case, as evidenced by the fact that he is slathered head-to-toe in blood and dirt.
