Project Overview

As described by its TV Tropes page:


"Emmy the Robot is a webcomic written and drawn by Dominic Cellini about a Android Nanny, or 'Nandroid', named Emmy. The Sterling Robotics company developed her and the other androids to care for families and children. Emmy, though a bit naïve, hopes to make the best of her new life as the caretaker for the Delaire family and their daughter Madeline."


I've grown to love this wonderful webcomic as it was a throwback to the cartoons of old. (Ala Hanna-Barbera, United Artists Pictures, early Disney, etc.) As such, I've wanted to help bring more attention to this comic, and I thought a comic dub of it will suffice. I asked Dominic for the okay, and he's intrigued on how his characters would sound.


As of now, we will be covering the first arc of the series from "Commercial" to "What to Do?". I am confident that we can make this into a reality and bring more eyeballs to the webcomic. We will also be hiring an editor that can make the panels look great in motion comic form.


As per usual, I am open to three takes on each of the characters. When it comes to mics, I am fine with USB and XLR mics, as long as they're treated well. Having a professional mic is key for this project. Each of the audition lines will also have links to certain pages of the comic for reference on how the scene should go. Also, please leave your social media links, Discord handles and other ways to get in touch for this project. We will be doing both e-mail and Discord for this production. In regards to payment, I will pay through PayPal.


Deadline is Monday May 8th (my birthday), which means we have plenty of time to gather auditions and discuss which will get their respective roles. In the mean time, you can check out the webcomic on WebToons and learn more on the comic's TV Tropes page. Links will be provided for each.

  • Auditions Closed

    Well folks, the auditions for this comic dub project are now closed. I thank those who brought forth nearly 300 auditions for this project. Never have I seen this amount of talent for any of my works before. Dominic and I have been discussing who would gain which part, and when we make our final decision, we will update with the final cast. All those who auditioned to be a part of the additional voice cast, you will get a DM from me along with my Discord contact so we'll keep in touch on which of the side characters you will voice.

  • A Much Needed Update

    Greetings! A-Log here. Apologies for not making an update sooner, but circumstances have brought me to this.

    First off: I want to thank all 200+ of you for your auditions. Many were great, and I've talked it out with Dominic Cellini on who he would see get the parts.

    Speaking of which, we are closing one part because we've found a voice for Angela Delaire. So congrats to Nancy O'Fallon for her role as the matriarch of the Delaire family that Emmy serves.

    Also, unless I get more auditions before the May 8th deadline, I will close auditions sooner than that. Which may be understandable, since there have been a lot of you doing your best when it comes to Emmy and the rest of the cast. There are many standouts, and we will cast them whether the deadline comes or not.

The main character of the series and the nandroid of the Delaire family. Emmy is dutiful, kind, caring and always in wonder about how the human mind and condition works. As we go towards the first arc of the webcomic, we see how she works in every day life. For Emmy, I would see her sound similar to the likes of Rachael Lillis (Utena Tenjou of "Revolutionary Girl Utena") or DeeDee Magno Hall (Pearl of "Steven Universe"). According to her creator, she and her fellow nandroids would have Mid-Atlantic accents; but feel free to interpret how she would sound.

  • When robotic nannies are created, each android is given a name to make us more approachable. The one I was given was "Emmy". (points up to her letters being spelled on screen) E-M-M-Y. My job is to provide you and your family with the exceptional care they need. I am programmed to care for humans from ages 0-100.   • I love shopping for cards, especially birthday cards! I just adore the creative ways humans come up with to celebrate with each other. (opens up the card and is amused with what she sees) Haha this dog is wearing a hat! They don't typically do that! Where do they come up with such things? Consider my expectations subverted! (reads whats on the card) "Another birthday passes, but you're still young... IN DOG YEARS!" (laughs heartily) Dog years... haha oh my goodness how irrelevant. Let's read another.   • Androids do not technically sleep, but I suppose we have something similar. When we retire for the night after a long day's work, we sit on our docking seats to recharge. It's a bit like sleeping! While in our recharge mode, we have our memories backed up to the hard drive. All those precious moments are recorded here. Sometimes while it's happening, we see old memories flash before us in sleep mode. They're like movies in your head, just like dreams. My favorites are the ones with Madeline, especially when she was little. I think people dream so they never have to stop spending time together. Daughter of Ted and Angela Delaire, this little darling is the one that Emmy cares for as a nandroid. Madeline (pronounced "Mad-uh-lin" in this case) is currently seven years old and on her way to her 8th birthday in this arc. This little ray of sunshine (and snark) is already voiced by my niece, Alyssa. However, since the little tyke lives several states away, I do need an understudy for any additional lines in the future. Don't worry, you will still get paid regardless.

One of the teachers behind the so-called Nandroid School, Mrs. Bradbury teaches Emmy and the other newly created nandroids how to care for the families they're assigned to. So far, she only appears in this arc, but she lays the groundwork on how the nandroids work and how the outmodes are different than them. Looking for a strong, authoritative, yet professional teacher type for this role.

One of Emmy's fellow nandroids, who is serving the Meddenhall family. She's pretty much the snob/mean girl of the group, and is proud of the child she cares for, Corbin, to the point of bragging about it every chance she gets. Voice-wise, I would imagine her sounding similar to Lisa Ortiz; whenever she voices one of the more snobbish characters. (ie, Mitzi from the 4Kids dub of "Winx Club".

Another of the nandroids we see in this series; Amy is the maid for the Khatri family. Despite her ward's accomplishments in the sciences, Amy's more of the airhead of the group. She does have her blonde moments, but she means well. Like the other nandroids, she does speak with a Mid-Atlantic accent, but you can channel Tress MacNeille or Candi Milo for her.

Another one of the nandroids we see; Polly is in care of Mr. Spiegel & Mr. Pryce, and their adoptive daughter, Michelle. Although she's as sweet as the other nandroids, she does have her stuffy side whenever she sides with Molly on certain things. Once more, Mid-Atlantic accent for her; but feel free to interpret her voice how you like.

Yet another lovable member of the nandroids we see in this comic. While not as scatter-brained as Amy, she does have her hands full with the twins from the Flagg family. She's also the closest to Emmy as she was reassured by her on the night of the packaging. Like the others, she should sound Mid-Atlantic, but I can see her having a bit of a comical Brooklyn accent for her (ala Molly from the DIC dub of "Sailor Moon). Once more, it's up to your interpretation.

Youngest member of the rich Meddenhall family, Corbin is the smartest of the kids in the nandroids' care, and Molly is very proud of that fact. (She can't help but remind her fellow nandroids of this.) So far in this arc, he has about one line. I'm fine for how he'll be voiced. Let's see how a rich, smart kid is on your end. Apparently, he's also an expert in finances for his age. Since he is a child, women are also eligible to audition.
