Longmao Dub (A YouShouYan Manhua Dub) - Chapters 37-48
Project Overview
You Shou Yan (also known as Fabulous Beasts) is a Chinese manhua and donghua created and updated by Xue Xia Mao Yao Zi. It centers around a variety of mythical beasts living in the mountains of Yunnan in our current time period. With 1000+ chapters, and more still being released weekly, it introduces a large variety of characters, explores multiple time periods, and explores the lore of how the mythical beasts got where they are now!
I personally discovered You Shou Yan through the animated show, and have fallen in love with it since! In wanting to show that love, I have decided that I would like to do an english dub and voice-over of the manhua chapters! With such a massive cast of characters, I felt it was only appropriate to seek out more voice actors to help bring this wish to reality!
We are casting for Cycles 7 and 8 right now, which consists of chapters 37-48. What is a cycle? Here's how it works:
Scripts are written for one cycle of chapters, which is currently six chapters. These scripts will be written a few weeks before voice acting for the cycle is set to begin.
When scripts for a cycle are released, voice actors will have ten days to record their lines for the cycle.
The remaining four days will be spent editing the six chapters into shorts / videos, which will be released a few weeks later on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Twitter/X, and BlueSky.
The reason behind a cycle being completed a few weeks before its release is to account for unforeseen situations or any potential delays. Not including the scriptwriting, a cycle will typically be completed within two weeks, or 14 days, and will account for two weeks worth of video releases. One on Monday, one on Wednesday, and one on Friday, all weekly.
As for how that relates to casting, there will be a new casting call every four weeks that will feature characters, whether main, secondary, tertiary, alternates, or just outright extras. These casting calls will account for the next two cycles worth of newly introduced characters and extras! It is designed this way so that newly casted VA's will not have to wait long to get started! The earlier of the two cycles would start their VA work within a week of the casting call completing, and the latter of the two cycles would start two and a half weeks after being cast.
How will these roles work for you?
There are four different types of roles, each that would cater to different availability types.
Main Characters are classified as characters that have appeared in over 150 chapters throughout the manhua! There are no main characters being cast in this call.
Secondary Characters are classified as characters that have appeared in 20-149 chapters throughout the manhua! These characters can often be considered main characters in certain arc's of the manhua, but are not always on the screen. The Secondary Characters being cast here are Lord Phoenix (over 35 chapters) and Biyi Bird (over 20 chapters)!
Tertiary Characters are classified as characters that have appeared in 2-19 chapters throughout the manhua. This can mean many things - either they are recently introduced and on their way to becoming a secondary character, or they were really only important for a certain amount of chapters. This could even extend to a background character showing up more than once throughout the manhua. The Tertiary Characters being cast here are Xu Dashan (10 chapters) and Li Li (unknown), as well as the Player and Game duo of the Video Game chapters! (12 chapters)!
Extras are speaking roles that are likely only needed for one chapter, or maybe two. Once they have submitted their speaking lines, they are not needed to complete that role any longer.

Lord Phoenix is flamboyant and proud, having a persona of a dignified showman, being theatrical, performative, and expressive. His theatric personality can also make him act dramatic when he's being emotional. As an esteemed noble among aviankind, he is also calm and formal, but still acts reserved and meticulous, especially in regards of him having high and particular demands and standards as a diva-esque celebrity. Other than that, he is known to be a generally kindhearted and friendly divine bird, being as virtuous as he is talented.
He sincerely adores his fans, and strongly appreciates the love and support he receives from them. He also enjoys interacting with them, from signing autographs to letting them perch within the feathers of his body. He would even come in to defend them, should any rival of his comes to harm them.
He has also shown to be quite vain about his appearance, and can become aggressively quarrelsome at rare times, such when he got into a fight with an old phoenix friend, which ended up getting all his head crest feathers plucked off.

This Biyi Bird is a loyal and devoted fan of Lord Phoenix, and would spend even the last of his money on Phoenix merchandise. When it comes to Lord Phoenix, he does his best to be confident, showing his support and lifting Lord Phoenix's spirit when he finds himself at a low point.
Outside of being devoted to Lord Phoenix, Biyi is very clumsy being half of a bird, having improper balancing to carry things around (except his merch). He's also very doubtful of himself, shown with his sadness over believing he would be rejected by Lord Phoenix, and that he would never find his "true love" to merge with.

In the You Shou Yan manhua, there is the occasional chapter that features someone playing a You Shou Yan mobile game! There are not many chapters like this in the Manhua, but they are certainly there.
As the Player, any average voice will do! Not looking for anything over the top, just a general person playing a fun (and cruel) little game.

Xu Dashan is an occasional support character in You Shou Yan. He is a Li Li boar spirit that constructs the majority of the structures within the Yunnan Mountain Range, and speaks with a thick scottish accent.
Xu Dashan is respected, as he is considerate, and is a building contractor job in the Yunnan mountains.
