Doomsday Paradise: The Witch and the Spider Queen

Doomsday Paradise: The Witch and the Spider Queen

Project Overview

Introduction - The Game
Doomsday Paradise is a competitive multiplayer visual novel / party game where you put off saving the world in order to bum around with your friends. Gameplay wise, it's half relaxed visual novel and half strategy board game- with lots of flexibility to let you play how you like. You can check it out on Steam here.

The game itself is goofy and has a light hearted, relaxed atmosphere. The game is currently in its closed beta- and there's a couple characters who are looking for voices in the next few weeks while their art gets finished!

Scope of Each Role
The game isn't fully voiced, instead characters have accent lines spoken during certain scenarios (when happy, introduced, angry, etc.,) to help add some flavor to the dialogue. These characters have 14 lines. The lines will repeat regularly, but it's a far cry from full voice acting.

Auditioning
Since the line count is so low- please feel free to audition for multiple roles at once and drop a note if that's required to get to a desired minimum compensation level.

Requirements
* Up to 3 takes for each line.
* Please do not slate your audition.
* Please submit auditions as .mp3 files.
* Please include your email address and Discord username, if you have one, with your audition.
* Please record in a quiet space free of background noise! I'll be using the takes to figure out how the final production will sound after all!

Getting Cast
Once you've been cast, if you agree to the role, you'll receive a quick contract establishing my rights to use the voice lines commercially, and solidifying payment terms and conditions. Upon signing the contract, you will officially receive the part.

Payment
Payment will be sent via PayPal after your lines have been recorded. Roles are priced at $5/line, which comes out to $70/character.

Further Voice Work
Not all of the game's voice work is a part of this casting call. You can follow here, via my Twitter, or hang around the Doomsday Paradise Discord channel if you want to be aware of any future casting calls for the project.

Narcella the Spider Queen
closed
Paid: Flat Rate 70 USD
Role assigned to: Sarah Ruth

Bio: Narcella is the Spider Queen, ruling over the dungeon monsters, battling adventurers and teaching at Spider U. She's referred to as a "boss monster", but is a friendly ally NPC and potential romance option.

Character: Narcella is refined, elegant, and powerful. While she has a good heart, she can be passive aggressive, dismissive, and hard to approach. She has the aura of a predator- a slight air of danger that never really dissipates. She should be a few parts "mean rich girl", a few parts "terrifying monster", and a few parts "CEO boss lady."

Voice: Adult female. Any pitch is fine. An accent is preferred! She should sound elegant- intimidating and powerful is also a plus.

Tips: These are lines that will be repeated a fair bit! Don't draw them out, focus on the character above all things, and try to communicate emotion. I have a document full of feedback from my last casting call you may find helpful.

  • [Disgusted, sees something or someone she considers "lesser", clear distaste is showing through- but not too heated] Pathetic

  • [Impatient, Politely telling you to stuff it or get stuffed, a little snappy but not furious- this is just a warning] I won't warn you again

  • [Earnestly overjoyed but trying to stay "polite". Her real emotions should crack the polite facade]  What a delight!

Gretchen the Witch
closed
Paid: Flat Rate 70 USD
Role assigned to: Mish

Bio: Gretchen is a powerful witch who spends most of her time knitting, reading fanfiction, and petting her two skeleton cats.

Character: Gretchen might be two hundred and something but she never stopped being anxious and awkward and geeky. She likes cocoa and scarves and geeking out with her friends online. She has a lack of confidence that often manifests in a bit of a stutter, a slightly awkward laugh, and gets easily flustered. But she's kind, easily excitable, and actually competent (very much a rarity in this game).

Tips: These are lines that will be repeated a fair bit! Don't draw them out, focus on the character above all things, and try to communicate emotion. I have a document full of feedback from my last casting call you may find helpful.

  • [Nervous, anxious, saying hi to a new group on the first day of school but you don't feel great about yourself and they're all so cool] U-um hi

  • [Being a bit of a know it all, you knew all that time reading wiki articles was good for something, excited to share some stuff you've nerded out over, how could they not know Banjo frog has 8 platinum albums???] Well, actually...

  • [Showing off, you're the best, hyped about general witchery] Witchcraft!
