BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

Project Overview

This is a BlazBlue fandub project that will showcase the events that occurred within the BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle storyline.

Four universes come together and are trapped inside a Phantom Field to participate in a Tag Team Tournament that consist of 2 on 2 combat. They come together with the same goal: to return to their own universe by any means necessary and defeat anyone that stands in their way. The universes consists of BlazBlue, Persona, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY.

Join me, as we venture the Phantom Field with an all star cast of characters from 4 respected franchises.

Also, joining the fray are Arcana Heart, Senran Kagura, and Akatsuki Blitzkampf.

As of now, there are a total of 53 characters. Feel free to expand your search and tryout as many characters as you can. The descriptions of each character, along with their original voice actors will be displayed on their slots in order for you all to have a good idea on what they sound like and how to impersonate their voices.

Once cast and when I have the amount of people needed to get started, we'll be working on the solo victory quotes with each character, and when the cast is 100%, we'll work on the special interactions with every character and dive right into story mode, leading up to the final battle against the Phantom Field System.

All videos will be displayed on YouTube once the final product's complete. I will send you all emails when it's time, and if you all happen to have a Discord account, I'll send you all the link from there.

Reminders

  1. 1). You must all have a good quality microphone.

  2. 2). Read the descriptions carefully.

  3. 3). Treat each other the utmost respect. No profanity.

  4. 4). Give out good constructive criticism to everyone's auditions.

  5. 5). Have a current, valid email address when cast.

Note: Some roles I may automatically give to others because they've played that specific character on previous projects of mine. So expect that to happen.

Also, if you're auditioning for Jin, you must also audition for Hakumen. The same with Noel. You must also audition for Nu, too.

Show me what you've got and give it your all!

Role assigned to: RedPhoenix15

Voice Actor: Patrick Seitz (https://youtu.be/3u6KFKI8zXA)

Ragna is the main protagonist of the BlazBlue series from Calamity Trigger to Central Fiction. Also known as the Grim Reaper, he is feared by the Novus Orbis Librarium for being the most powerful individual to have ever rebelled against them since the Ikaruga Civil War. His actions, which included destroying countless number of their branches, have labeled him the most wanted criminal and caused him to receive the largest bounty ever in the history of the NOL. He possesses a powerful form of ars magus called the Azure Grimoire, or simply referred to as the titular BlazBlue, which is often either the secondary or primary target of those after him and his bounty. His ultimate goal is to destroy the NOL, for he blames them for destroying his family. He is Jin Kisaragi's biological brother, whose rivalry with him stems from an incident that happened when their sister Saya was presumably killed. His right arm is mechanical because his real one was cut off by Terumi, who had taken control of Jin's mind. He was resurrected by Rachel as a dhampir, causing one of his green eyes to turn red and his once-blond hair to white. The BlazBlue he possesses is only a fragment of an imitation; the true Grimoire is actually destined to be wielded by Noel Vermillion. In Continuum Shift, Ragna is given the Idea Engine by a dying Lambda which enabled him to access the true Azure.

Ragna is sardonic, rude, and abrasive to anyone he comes across. He is also quick to anger, stubborn, and never misses a chance to use as much vulgar language as possible. In this regard, Ragna is similar to the stereotypical anime delinquent.

Beneath his gruff exterior, however, Ragna does possess a softer, more compassionate side. He chooses to keep up his public front because of the path he chose – that of revenge, as well as accepting the fact that he’s still someone who’s committed crimes such as murder. He does genuinely care for certain people, such as Taokaka, Rachel, Noel, Jūbei and, to an extent, his brother, Jin.

  • Damn, you're annoying... Fine, get over here and I'll put you to sleep.

  • Look, I don't give a damn about the "strength of your bonds," but if you keep your eyes forward, I'll watch your back.

  • Go home, kid. From here on out, your life's on the line.

Note: You must also audition for Hakumen.

Jin is a former Major in the NOL (Novus Orbis Librarium) and one of its elite commanding officers as well as the rival to Ragna. He is always cool and calm, but is also jealous, ambitious, and possessive with little care for others, treating them like they are mere obstacles. He displayed formidable actions to gain his rank during the Ikaruga Civil War. When he heard that Ragna the Bloodedge had arrived on the scene, he quickly abandoned his post to hunt him down by himself. The truth, however, is that Ragna is Jin's biological brother, and Jin's early feelings of rivalry were furthered by his visions of the future and his Nox Nyctores' amplification of his emotions. Terumi corrupted Jin's mind and incited him to hack off Ragna's arm (the latter nearly dying without the intervention of Rachel) and supposedly kills Saya, and Jin often says that he's looking forward to killing Ragna again. After the incident, he was adopted into the Kisaragi house, a highly powerful and respected family within the NOL. He possesses a notable psychosis, said to be caused by his sword, the Nox Nyctores Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa. While the sword grants him manipulation over ice, it also enhances primal feelings and is often blamed for "insanity". It is also revealed that Hakumen is another incarnation of Jin from a different time cycle. Jin's Drive, Frost Bite, allows him to freeze his opponents.

Where his brother Ragna is hot-tempered and quick to draw first blood, Jin is cold, aloof, and borderline sociopathic. He cares little for the feelings of others, and denounces, in his own words, trivialities like camaraderie, believing that such things are lies that people use to their advantage. He has no compunction with killing anyone who gets in the way of his goal.

This, however, is all a façade. The moment he reunites with Ragna, Jin loses his calm, detached demeanor and reverts to his childhood self. His voice becomes noticeably more ecstatic, and he is now prone to fits of maniacal laughter, mostly due to Yukianesa’s influence (which compels him to kill his brother due to his nature as the Black Beast, as well as the Power of Order, which perceives him as a threat to the stability of the world).

  • Wait, Brother! I said WAIT! We should be killing each other right now!

  • Hold your tongue. Unless you want me to cut it off your head.

  • So what if it is...? Shall I judge the evil within you?

Role assigned to: zoomiesva

Voice Actress: Cristina Valenzuela (https://youtu.be/u3waJ_i6lQ0)

Note: If you audition for Noel, you must also do Nu-13, as well.

Noel is the main heroine of the series, who was found as a young girl amidst the burning fields of Ikaruga where she was rescued, and then adopted by the noble Vermillion family. It was because of her outstanding combat activity that she became a lieutenant of the NOL using the Nox Nyctores revolver Arcus Diabolus: Bolverk, which apparently does not fire actual bullets but rather inflicts damage by creating distortions in dimensional space.

Noel is the definition of the “shrinking violet” archetype. She is shy, clumsy, and tends to get worked up over the smallest things. Noel is extremely self-conscious, especially regarding her notoriously flat breasts. She can be socially awkward at times, but this has actually served as an endearing trait, which earned her Tsubaki and Makoto’s friendship. In spite of this, she is shown to be quite passionate and determined when motivated, and is loyal to her friends and allies.

Then there’s the soft and unfettered side to her personality that shows compassion to every person and being, and how everyone is being treated. With her job out of the way, she enjoys relaxing with friends and reminiscing, nostalgically. When she cares for others’ well-being, she overlooks her traits and is much more responsible.

  • Makoto, aren't you hungry? Wanna take a break? I can make you something real quick.

  • What is this...energy I feel...? Could it be...her feelings?

  • What sort of world is this...? How long must we keep fighting...?

Rachel Alucard

Role assigned to: ChihiyoHitsuji

Voice Actress: Mela Lee (https://youtu.be/ymiTvaZepfw)

Rachel is a vampire and the current head of the noble Alucard family. Despite her small appearance, she is a formidable opponent in battle, using her servants, Nago and Gii, as weapons, and her Drive, Silpheed, to control the wind. Rachel also possesses one of the three Sankishin, the Tsukuyomi Unit, which is a giant shield that she describes as the "ultimate defense". Rachel slipped out of her castle in search of fun because she hates to be bored, though in truth she is an 'Observer' tasked with watching over the actions of the main characters. Due to her hairstyle, several characters nickname her "Rabbit", a name that irritates her to no end, though Ragna seems to be the only one who can get away with calling her an idiot. Despite her status, however, she deeply loathes her vampiric impulses. She seems to be watching Ragna, as she is the one who accidentally turned him into a half-vampire by giving him her powers (this is also the reason behind his heterochromia and healing ability). Due to this, he is one of the only characters who is aware of her. Though Rachel often insults Ragna and treats him poorly, it is simply a ruse to hide the feelings she has developed for him. She also watches and toys with the other characters of the game as part of her amusement.

Rachel is a stereotypical aristocratic heiress. She has an almost enchanting air of dignity and grace, yet is sarcastic and condescending to those she considers lower than her, always expecting them to have the highest standards of formality when conversing with her.

Despite this, she does care deeply for her allies. Her butler, Valkenhayn, is fervently devoted to Rachel, as he was a loyal friend and respected rival to her father, the late Clavis Alucard, and she, in turn, treats him with a greater level of respect than anyone else. Rachel’s two familiars, Nago and Gii, despite taking punishment from her on a regular basis, remain loyal to her.

  • I believe it's time for some tea... Ragna, would you start the preparations?

  • What a delightful suggestion. Nago, prepare the tea, posthaste. Hehe... This should be a lovely tea party.

  • Oh, I disagree. There must always be a little room for amusement. Boredom is our greatest enemy, is it not?

Iron Tager

Role assigned to: gilthielm81

Voice Actor: Jamieson Price (https://youtu.be/QbilBaWhUN8)

Tager was originally the leader of an Ikaruga unit, he suffered a mortal wound during the Ikaruga Civil War and was forced to withdraw. He was revived as Iron Tager (TR-0009), an enormous cyborg, by Kokonoe whom he pledged loyalty to afterward. After his revival, he bears a similar resemblance to a demon, which resulted in him dubbed as the "Red Devil of Sector Seven". He was originally Bullet's captain before his near death at the hands of Azrael. In the end of Centralfiction, Tager and Bullet are now partners once again. Tager uses his Drive, Voltic Battler, to magnetize his opponents for a short period of time.

Tager is a serious, mature cyborg. Well known as a fearsome mechanical juggernaut to the enemies of the 7th Agency, he is feared by many, having earned him the alias “Red Demon” whereas in truth, he is very calm and calculated, only engaging in violence when necessary. He places great trust and faith in Kokonoe, and will follow orders without complaint. However, there have been some occasions where he follows his own intuition and judgment to choose what to do in a situation, especially true in the case of orders he believes to be rash, immoral or cruel.

When fighting, Tager can become fierce and determined, taunting his opponent while fighting and goading them into anger, but will be quick to stop when victorious or no longer in danger.

Within Sector Seven, he is known as a solid, dependable soldier, a resourceful and reliable field agent and a passionate scientist. Relationships with his colleagues, both former and current, are both professional and amicable. In Calamity Trigger, he is seen chatting pleasantly with Litchi, then a member of Sector Seven, about his new assignment as Kokonoe’s field agent; Litchi mentions that Kokonoe’s tasks must be gruelling to give “our Tager” cause for complaint, signifying his established status as a quiet, skilled professional. He tests Sector Seven’s newest recruit Makoto without reservation, he gives her his open and honest opinion each time and the two have a relationship somewhat akin to a father and a daughter as the story progresses. When Tager bests Makoto in combat in his Arcade story INCEPTION, he offers her advice on how to progress in life, with friends and on the battlefield, baffling Kokonoe and emotionally touching Makoto.

However, when encountering Arakune, he expresses his heartfelt grief that someone he had once seen as a brother has become something far from human, and sees his duty of bringing him down as a kindness to a suffering loved one. Whenever Kokonoe orders to kill Arakune, Tager will always hesitate and allow him to escape.

  • Your sharp instincts are praiseworthy, but if you continue to fight like that, all that intel those instincts provide you will be squandered. On the battlefield, the most important thing is to--

  • You just proved my point, Rookie. A soldier who ignores the battlefield to focus on himself is second-rate. Watch your opponents, the flow of battle, and above all, your allies. Only then can you call yourself "strong."

  • I fully understand the capacity of your strength, but you should consider brushing up on your tactics a little more. Not all battles can be won with brute force alone.

Role assigned to: RedPhoenix15

Voice Actor: David Vincent (https://youtu.be/j7ms1D2DPIE)

Note: You must also audition for Jin, as well.

Hakumen is the leader of the Six Heroes and a mighty warrior wielding a long sword, the Nox Nyctores, Interfectum Malus: Ōkami. His body is one of the Sankishin, the Susano'o Unit. Though the armor acts as his body, Hakumen removes his mask at one point in the first game to reveal to an illusion of Ragna his face, though the player does not see it. Hakumen led mankind to defeat the Black Beast, and was said afterward to have been cast into a void between worlds known as the "Edge" after attempting to warn the people that they needed to "repent for their sins" lest the Black Beast return. The truth, however, is that Hakumen had Jubei seal him within the "Edge" alongside Yuuki Terumi to seal the latter away. After drifting in the "Edge" for hundreds of years, Kokonoe helped him return to the world, hoping to use him to defeat Terumi, but he set out to achieve his own agendas before being completely salvaged from the Edge. During his journey, he has also shown tremendous respect towards Bang and his unyielding spirit-something surprising given his normally strict disdain for others. Hakumen's true identity is Jin Kisaragi from an alternate time cycle, who fell into the Cauldron beneath Kagutsuchi trying to save Ragna from Mu-12. Transported to the distant past and wounded greatly, he was saved by Rachel and had his soul inserted into the Susano'o Unit, which Rachel came to possess after its original owner discarded it.

His Drive is called Zanshin (Slaying God), which projects a shield-like energy barrier that, when hit by an opponent's attack, will negate said attack and follow-up with an unblockable, invincible counter-attack.

Hakumen is a very serious individual who is usually extremely focused on the task at hand and rarely shows any emotion beyond stoicism. His attitude can come off to others as prideful, stubborn, and even arrogant, occasionally getting him into issues with his comrades when he refuses to cooperate with them and tries to handle things on his own. His solitary goal is to eradicate evil wherever it hides and rarely compromises, warning his target to not take his mercy lightly when he spares them. During his Bad Ending in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, Hakumen completely loses his temper when Hazama brutally tortures Tsubaki in front of him. Having already witnessed Tsubaki’s gruesome end in his own timeline and harboring immense guilt over the fact that he didn’t stop it, Hakumen can’t bear the thought of having to witness it again.

While Hakumen is generally cold toward others, he does have respect for Jūbei, Valkenhayn, and Trinity, occasionally indulging them in conversation. Although Rachel Alucardfrustrates him with her commandeering attitude, he is willing to tolerate her to some extent not unlike that of Ragna. He also show respect towards Bang Shishigami as a fellow man of justice and shows kindness towards Celica Ayatsuki Mercury, occasionally doing favors for her.

Due to the fact that Hakumen is Jin Kisaragi’s alternate future self, they share many similar traits. Both are cold, stubborn, anti-social, and desire Ragna to die by their hands. However, while Jin’s desire is brought out as an obsessive impulse, Hakumen merely does so as it is his destiny, yet regrets every bit of it, showing that deep down he cares about his brother.

  • You are the very essence of evil, the heart of darkness. Your continued existence is a blight upon this world.

  • I've witnessed your power firsthand. Such genuine strength is not to be taken lightly. Your pride is well-earned.

  • The power to protect those you care for--is that how you define righteousness? Then do not fear, do not let pride consume you, and you are sure to find your path.

Role assigned to: zoomiesva

Voice Actress: Cristina Valenzuela (https://youtu.be/uePqM_roYsw)

Note: You must also audition for Noel Vermillion, as well. They are one in the same.

Nu-13 is the main antagonist of Calamity Trigger, and a Murakumo Unit created by Relius Clover, who was forged in Kagutsuchi's Gates of Sheol. Her weapon is the Nox Nyctores, Lux Sanctus: Murakumo, a giant sword that breaks apart to become her armor and a set of floating swords. She was programmed, either by Relius or his partner, Hazama, to terminate anyone she deems as hostile subjects that come near the Gate. Despite normally acting as an emotionless girl who speaks in a mechanical fashion, Ragna's presence causes her to shift to the personality of a bubbly yet highly murderous girl who is in love with Ragna, showcasing traits typical of a yandere.

Nu is shown to have a split personality; one that is an emotionless girl that follows orders without question and the other as a yandere who is in love with Ragna the Bloodede.

Being a Prime Field, Nu’s emotions were sealed away, becoming little more than an emotionless machine who kills anyone that obstructs her programming or whomever she determines to be hostile. She was originally programmed to terminate anyone she deems hostile that came near the Gate. When conversing with anyone that isn’t or doesn’t mention Ragna, she speaks like a machine or in an emotionless tone and is only interested in her orders.

When around, hearing about or thinking about Ragna on the other hand, her personality changes to someone who is absolutely infatuated with him. In her mind, Nu must have Ragna to herself, and anyone who gets in her way must die, thus making her an obsessive yandere instead of an possessive one (possessive yanderes tend to kill their love interest to avoid losing them to someone else). Nu’s love for Ragna has also given her the habit of using the most sexual innuendo out of the entire cast in the BlazBlue series. This especially the case when around Ragna, as she is usually giving him a “naughty” smile when using innuendo around him. However, what makes Nu different to traditional yanderes is that while she changes to a person who is in love with Ragna, she doesn’t necessarily have a “deredere” side to her personality as she still tends to say dark and graphic things to others and may still act emotionless even in Ragna’s presence.

  • Hey, Ragna, Nu did her best, right? Tell me I'm a good girl.

  • Raaaagnaaaaa... Where are you, Ragna? Nu wants Ragna...

  • I don't care about that. All Nu needs is Ragna.

Role assigned to: allen the ultimate gamer

Voice Actor: Doug Erholtz (https://youtu.be/XkDGbkvHhvw)

Hazama is a captain of the NOL's Intelligence Division and the main antagonist of Continuum Shift. He is an artificial human born from an Azure grimoire created by Relius to be a vessel for Terumi. Hazama fights with balisong knives and the Nox Nyctores, Geminus Anguium: Ouroboros. His Drive, Ouroboros, enables him to summon chains that can be used to quickly move through the battlefield or attack his opponents.

Hazama tends to maintain a calm and quiet demeanor around most people, pretending to be harmless as a member of the Intelligence Department and claiming he prefers to avoid conflict due to not being very proficient at combat. This, however, is simply a guise to his true nature. When people see through it, he shows his true colors as a selfish and manipulative snake; destroying other people’s lives and twisting their beliefs for his own gain. He has no qualms with killing those who get in his way and shows absolutely no remorse for his actions.

Despite separating from Terumi at the end of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, he is shown to be just as cruel and detached as Terumi himself, working in sync with him with almost no problems and taking just as much pleasure from the suffering of others as he did before. Hazama takes every opportunity to upset others by mocking them, deliberately provoking them, or even bringing up and prodding at a sensitive topic, all for his own enjoyment. Even when he is on the losing side of a conflict, he would take the time to insult and taunt his foes.

His cruelty seems to be an inherent trait regardless of the fusion with Terumi, as – while he has his nice demeanor in Central Fiction – he still relishes in brutal torture and exhibits sadomasochistic tendencies in an almost lustful manner. This can be seen when he tortures Rachel during the third act of Central Fiction by killing her over a hundred times, just to test the limits of her immortality. He was even going to cut her body to pieces with his jagged chains and throw said pieces in different parts of the Boundary; despite this, Hazama is still much more subtle in his disposition compared to how blunt Terumi normally is.

  • Oh, just can it already, would you? I'd rather not have to scrap such a big piece of garbage.

  • Ohoho, now you're a breath of fresh air. I can't wait to toy with--I mean, play with you...

  • Oh my, you are a curious one. But you do know there's no point in harvesting crops that have already rotten, don't you?

Heir of the Yayoi family, a member of the Duodecim, wielder of the Sealed Armament: Izayoi, and a soldier of the World Void Information Control Organization’s Magic Formula Troops. a serious, mature, and intelligent person. She has always followed her orders from the Control Organization and has complete faith in them (likely to honor her family name). She has always had a childhood crush on Jin, and deeply loves and cares about him. She was also good friends with Noel, Makoto and Carl Clover when they were at Military Academy.

Upon awakening the true form of the Sealed Armament: Izayoi, she became an incredibly powerful being who is the sole person able to kill Observers. As well as this, her Immortal Breaker ability is capable of killing any immortal being due to the fact that the Sealed Armament was designed to target Observers. Her weapon is a prototype of a Murakumo Unit, an Anti-Observer Armament. Replacing the shield and sword is a halberd with an energy blade, whose length can be altered for single powerful strikes and is even capable of teleporting in the same fashion as the Murakumo Units. The shields on her waist can open up in a winged formation to reveal thrusters, enabling flight.

Voice Actress: Cindy Robinson (https://youtu.be/aI10bEtr69I)

Makoto is another classmate of Noel's and Jin's from the Military Academy, much like Tsubaki. She is a beastkin with squirrel-like features, and is considerably hyperactive with a short attention span though has surprisingly high intelligence. She is outgoing, adventurous, and has inhuman reflexes. She has a few complexes about her race but nonetheless proudly acknowledges who she is. She initially appears to be working under the NOL's Intelligence Division, but is actually an informant for Sector Seven. After officially defecting from the NOL, Makoto stays by Noel's side to help her throughout the story. At the end of the series, Makoto rejoins the newly reformed NOL with Tsubaki, and is last seen visiting Noel at her church. In battle, she fights using her specially-made cross tonfas, and her Drive, Impact, allows her to execute special attacks depending on the level of charge. Many characters in the story comment on Makoto having an unusually strong soul.

Makoto is a silly, friendly, generally whimsical and energetic demi-human. She also appears to be somewhat scatter-brained, though this trait belies her true aptitude as an Intelligence operative and spy forSector Seven. She is one of Noel’s best friends, though unlike Tsubaki, she harbors no jealousy towards her. She cares deeply for her friends and cannot stand when they fight each other. When she was in Military Academy, she used to be cruel, mean, selfish, and hated humans, but then had a change of heart by Tsubaki’s words when she confronted her fellow female classmates who were picking on her. When she, Tsubaki, and Noel were trapped in the lower levels of Kagutsuchi, it was revealed that she just wanted to be accepted for who she is. Makoto also has a serious side when it comes to her friends, and has even confronted Hazama when she discovers what he did to Noel.

Note: For Platinum, you'll be doing quotes for Luna, Sena, and Trinity Glassfille. You all are more than welcome to impersonate Bailey's Platinum.

Platinum is a young girl with three personalities named Luna, Sena, and Trinity Glassfille. Luna is a rude young girl; Sena is a polite young boy; and Trinity is the spirit of one of the Six Heroes. Trinity's personality is locked within her Nox Nyctores, Arma Reboare: Muchōrin, and she is only able to come to the surface for brief periods of time. In Central Fiction, Trinity has separated from Platinum, and Luna and Sena are in danger of disappearing due to being creations of Trinity herself. They are saved thanks to Jin, who enables them to exist independently of Trinity. At the end of the series, Platinum is shown living peacefully in Kagutsuchi. Platinum's Drive, Magical Symphony, equips her with a special item to use in battle.

Platinum has three split personalities: The first is Luna, a rude girl with a stubborn attitude that hates Ragna, but admires Jūbei. The second is Sena, a polite, understanding, and sometimes curious boy who tries to calm Luna down whenever she encounters Ragna. And lastly, Trinity Glassfille, one of the Six Heroes, but she barely has time to control Platinum’s body, which is almost similar to her own body.

During the events of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, Luna develops a passionate hatred for Litchi, growing extremely jealous of Litchi’s breasts, as well as calling her by names like “Boobzilla” and “Rackcula”. This is similar to how Noel gets flustered over her own breasts. She also shows an overzealous and protective behavior toward Jūbei when she first thought that Litchi was trying to flirt with him. Finally, Luna gets greatly irritated when Bang tells her that he will do anything to seduce Litchi, claiming that he is only interested by her breasts.

  • Sena: Lunaaa... Th-this guy's eyes are scaring me...

Luna: Right? He's TOOOTALY a creeper.

  • Luna: W-Well... You did pretty good, for a pipsqueak! I-I guess I can take pity on you and let you fight with us again.

Azarel is a fist-fighting soldier of Sector Seven whose strength seems unnaturally high. He enjoys violence and relishes the idea that he is fighting over life and death. Azrael's philosophy is to use only his own strength and nothing else, save for self-imposed limitations on his power. One of his victims was Bullet's captain, who becomes a cyborg known as Iron=Tager, leading Bullet to initially blame Sector Seven due to her squad working with them at the time. Though locked away by Sector Seven after the incident, the leaders of the organization later free him to work for them as a countermeasure against Kokonoe, who they believe is beginning to act against them. Azrael instead uses this as a chance to go on a warpath to engage in life-or-death fights once more. During a coliseum battle set up as a trap to lure him out by Kagura, he reveals to Bullet that he was the one who fatally injured her captain in the past before nearly killing her. Ragna later steps up to fight him, where Azrael attempts to goad him into using all of his Azure so he may fight Ragna at his most wild, uncontrolled state.

Azrael obsesses over fighting and seeks out powerful opponents to sate his bloodlust. He is confident enough in his own power to challenge even the Six Heroes and deliberately holds back in battle to make his “fun” last longer. Azrael constantly makes references to the phrase “survival of the fittest”, likening himself to a predator in search of its prey and refers to battles as a “hunting ground” for him to “consume” his challengers.

His lust for battle is so great, that he will resort to any means necessary in order to force an opponent to fight at their full strength. This is shown when he attempted to attack Celica Ayatsuki Mercury in order to force Ragna the Bloodedge to activate his Azure Grimoire, theorizing that he would do so out of rage.

  • Now, it's time for the main course. You better leave me satisfied, Grim Reaper...!

A magician, one of the Six Heroes, and one of the Ten Sages. After her supposed death by the hands of Yūki Terumi, she was mysteriously brought back to life as a servant of Hades: Izanami.

Prior to her descent into madness as Phantom, she was a person who liked to do things her own way, a trait shared by her daughter. She is a kind-hearted individual who cares about her friends, especially her younger sister Celica. However, she was not easy on Kazuma. Although she seems to have a mature and serious personality, she can be somewhat impulsive and violent when angered, as shown when she attempted to use a fire spell on Bloodedge for annoying her. She was this way even with her lover, Jūbei, before falling in love with him as well as rash, headstrong and independent.

As Phantom, however, all of her personality has seemingly vanished. She no longer speaks nor has any signs of any emotions whatsoever; becoming an empty shell in comparison to what she was before. While as Phantom, she attacks anyone who is deemed as the Emperor’s foe, going so far to attack Trinity Glassfille, one of her closest comrades, and her lover Jūbei and even punishing her own daughter Kokonoe for using Celica. When her restrictions as Phantom are released, she retains her same arrogant tone and confidence in her abilities; however, she no longer has concern for the well-being of her former comrades and family. Despite this, she still retains her memories, taunting Jūbei about their former relationship before engaging him in battle.

  • That's my man. I just fell in love with you all over again.

  • A Persona, heavy artillery, a flight unity, and human intelligence... My daughter would love you.

One of the supporting protagonists in the BlazBlue series. He was the main protagonist of the light novel, Bloodedge Experience.

Originally an average high school student with the uncanny ability to see the life force value of those around him, he came across a young blonde teenage girl named Raquel Alucard, who bears a striking resemblance to her counterpart, Rachel Alucard. He followed Raquel and saved her life, but lost his and his right arm in the process. In exchange for his help in finding the Azure, Raquel shared some of her life force and brought him back to life as well as giving him a new right arm made from her blood that he can control and form at will.

He is eventually sent by Raquel to the BlazBlue possibility (a timeline) when his world is being destroyed. He is unknowingly tasked with saving every possibility including his own and while in the BlazBlue universe he prioritized in finding Raquel. In this universe, the Kurogane here had died by Clavis Alucard's hand. During his travels, he "reunites" with the likes of an older Valkenhayn R. Hellsing and Relius Clover, and even runs into Hazama who, unlike the former two, does not recall ever meeting him. In the end, he manages to save all possibilities as Raquel had requested of him and he returns back to his home universe. There, he reunites with Raquel whom helps him on his feet.

He possesses a unique power, the "Eye of the Hunter," that allows him to see the life-force of living beings. With a strong sense of justice, he can't ignore people who are in need of help and always rushes into situations without thinking much about the consequences.

  • I promised a spoiled princess that I’d find her. No qualifications needed for that.

  • Aww, c’mon. It was all because of your great strategy, Naoto! Huh. Ever think about switching the last names?

The true form of Yuuki Terumi, and one of the legendary "Six Heroes" who defeated the Black Beast. Yuuki Terumi or Susano'o in his real name was a Sakishin Mikoto created by his eldest sister, Master Unit Amaterasu. He became a malevolent sentient and begin to rebel his own creator because of his existence into serving her whim. He later acquires Relius Clover and Shūichirō Ayatsuki (father of Nine the Phantom and Celica Ayatsuki Mercury) for not only research his body, but also any Azure-related inventions, the Gate, the Azure Grimoire and everything, thus Terumi and two brilliant men were responsible for the events that started from the past. During Relius’ trial experiment, the Black Beast emerged from the Kiln. Relius was swallowed by the Kiln, Terumi’s physical form was destroyed, and his spirit form took heavy damage. It took five years for his spirit body to heal, after which Terumi contacted Relius in order to ask the whereabouts of his next body that Clover promised to prepare. Voice Actress: Eden Riegel (https://youtu.be/GEiacg5jo48)

The main heroine of XBlaze: Code Embryo and the true protagonist of XBlaze: Lost Memories. She is also the true identity of Nobody, one of the main characters of the game. She makes her first playable appearance in BlazBlue: Central Fiction, introduced in the console version as DLC. Es's Drive, Crests Arts, turns the trail of her sword attacks into a trail of damage dealing Crests. She is the gate keeper of the Azure, and her duty sees her memories repressed and her returned to the emotionless state she first appeared in within her own series. Despite this, her memories will occasionally resurface, and she retains her deep love of pudding. Es is implied to have a history with Amane given their interactions. She is later revealed to be a false gatekeeper designed to draw attention away from Ragna, the true gatekeeper. After the end of the story, Es remains guarding the gate to the Azure. There are some hints that the Es seen guarding the gate in BlazBlue may simply be a recreation of the real Es, but nothing is outright stated.

Emotionless, steady, and objective focused. Es is the perfect soldier, her mission always comes first. When she first met Tōya Kagari, she did not care for him or any other person, being willing to hurt and even kill others that she was “friends” with just so she could complete a mission. If Es did not understand a term, mainly because of the informality or colloquial speech, then she would forwardly ask what said term means, leading to unique, and awkward situations. For a time, she possessed no opinions due to her little interaction with people outside of the Agency, as well as this, Es possessed a habit of taking things too literally, annoying Tōya as he put up with her awkward social tendencies.

Possibly because of her initial lack of understanding towards humans, Es was prone to revealing information to others unnecessarily, and would often act in a robotic manner towards anyone conversing with her. She would also ignore the orders of anyone who was not her superior or essential to her mission objectives, leading to humorous circumstances; it was because of this tendency that she was seen as unerringly stubborn.

In BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Es appears to have regressed to how she was in Code: Embryo, appearing emotionless and doing whatever it takes to complete her mission given by the Blue. Despite this, she does recall liking pudding according to her memories and has nostalgic memories about the people precious and dear to her, hinting that her emotions and true self might be restrained.

At the start of Remix Heart, she was sheltered, timid and had difficulty interacting with others. This was because her harsh and distant father had taught her to consider everyone a potential enemy, causing her to grow up without friends. In addition, she initially had very little self-esteem and a low sense of self-worth due to her father’s desire for a perfect heir which she was unable to achieve. Furthermore, her father’s apparent rejection caused her to fear that all the other people she met, including her friends, would also eventually reject her just like he did. She also initially felt insecure being surrounded by girls and was embarrassed by seeing them naked. However, she quickly demonstrated that she was a good person, as she agreed to eat Noel’s cooking in order to make her feel better despite the warnings of her friends.

Throughout Remix Heart, she was very kind, polite and did what she could to help her friends due to the fact they were the first people to fully accept her. In addition, she showed great courage and inner strength as well as a willingness to fight in order to protect those that she cared for. Carl had commented that Mai’s personality is similar to his sister, Ada. When she was a man, she used to be more quiet due to the pressure of being the next head of the Twelve Originators family as well as due to her father keeping her isolated. She stated that she had been like a puppet, living an uneventful life with no freedom. Making friends and being freed from her father’s constraints allowed her personality to evolve, and resulted in her overcoming her shyness and becoming more open towards others. In addition, thanks to her friends who accepted her even though she was not perfect, she managed to overcome the inferiority complex and trust issues caused by her father and gained both self-confidence and a sense of self-worth. Nonetheless, she still greatly respects her father and earnestly wishes to earn his approval.

Jubei also known as Mitsuyoshi, is one of the Six Heroes and Ragna's master who battled the Black Beast alongside Hakumen. As revealed in Phase 0, he was originally named Mitsuyoshi, and did not take up the name Jubei until after the Dark War. He is a beast-man and is the father of Kokonoe. It is also revealed Taokaka and her clan were genetically engineered from his DNA. Jubei's weapon is the Nox Nyctores, Mucro Somnio: Musashi, which is a pair of kodachi blades that can cut "what cannot normally be cut."

Jubei is generally agreeable, sociable and optimistic. Whenever there is a great threat, such as Ragna or the Control Organization around, he always keeps his laid-back attitude and stays relaxed. He makes the best of every situation, and is always trying to see the good in everything.

At times, though, Jubei shows a far more jaded and bitter side. Due to many of his friends having died, Jubei shows deep-seated guilt over his inability to do anything. As such, he has felt that he is nothing more than a weak coward who runs home with his tail between his legs while leaving good people such as Hakumen and Bloodedge to their fate.

The supposed death of his lover, Nine, and having to leave their daughter Kokonoe without a family, only wound him further. Because of those losses, however, Jubei is even more driven to do what’s right, and will use the power he has to do so.

Yu Narukami’s classmate at Yasogami High School in Inaba and the son of the Junes Department Store's Inaba branch manager.

A clumsy, awkward student who attends Yasogami High School. Much like the protagonist, Yosuke had also moved from a big city to the small rural town of Inaba.

Yosuke makes his first appearance during the Narukami's first day at school, where he comically crashes his bicycle. He is later shown to be apologizing to Chie Satonaka, due to the fact that he broke the DVD "Trial of the Dragon." which he borrowed from Chie. Enraged, Chie kicks Yosuke in the crotch, and demands that he buy her a new one.

The protagonist befriends Yosuke the next day, where he helps Yosuke after having his head stuck in a trash can after crashing his bicycle. Later, to express his gratitude, Yosuke invites the protagonist to Yasoinaba's delicacy store. However, Yosuke later scraps his plans after Chie hears his proposal, and takes them to Junes' Food Court instead.

Chie later tells the protagonist and Yosuke about the urban legend of the Midnight Channel, and asks them to try it out. Their conversation is interrupted when Yosuke sees his senior, Saki Konishi taking a break. Seeing her looking frustrated and tired, Yosuke becomes worried and talks to Saki. In their conversation it is revealed that Yosuke, like the protagonist, came from a city, and his father is a manager of Junes. Yosuke later tries to tell Saki something, however Saki simply brushes him off and tells him that her break-time was almost over. Chie takes note of Yosuke's disappointment and teases him, asking if he is falling in love with Saki.

Yukiko's family runs a famous hot spring inn, the Amagi Inn in the town of Yasoinaba, often mentioned in the news as "the treasure of Yasoinaba." Yukiko is expected to succeed the family business by becoming the manager of the inn, and is always busy training herself. Due to this, Yukiko is often oblivious towards romantic feelings, and tends to misinterpret others' conversations. Despite her apparent willingness to inherit the inn, Yukiko is deep down falling under stress as a result of being branded the next owner of the inn. Because of her obligation she often goes home quickly after school is over and may even skip classes.

During an interview, Yukiko wears a pink kimono. That night, an image of her wearing that kimono is shown on the Midnight Channel. Worried about her the next day, Chie tries to contact Yukiko's cell phone, as she hasn't showed up at school. The contact fails, and Chie instead receives Yukiko's voicemail. Yosuke would later suggest Chie to call the Amagi Inn, where Yukiko finally responds. She explains that she is busy catering at the Inn, and thus had to skip school.

That night, a show called "Princess Yukiko's Search for Prince Charming" is shown on the Midnight Channel, where Yukiko dresses up as a princess on a journey to "score" with a "hot stud," or Prince Charming. As Yukiko's behavior in the TV was rather bizarre and unlike how she would normally act, Yosuke calls the protagonist and suggests that they meet up in the Junes Food Court the next morning. There, Yosuke, Chie and Yu decide to venture into the Midnight Channel once again.

Arriving in Inaba to help investigate the murders, this fifth generation of the famed Shirogane detectives enrolls as a first-year student at Yasogami High School.

Having lost both her parents in a car accident when she was very young, Naoto is an orphan who acts very mature in spite of her age. As a descendant of a respected lineage of famous detectives, she wears formal clothing, and deepens her voice when she speaks in a sophisticated, stilted manner. She is generally very serious, focused and mission-oriented. She rarely jokes around which can make her seem like a killjoy or party pooper when the team is involved in silly antics. In Persona 4 Arena, Kanji calls her out on this, saying she is too "uptight" and it makes her seem distant and on a different wavelength. One of Naoto's insecurities is her lack of friends; she has difficulty making friends and is lonely as a result.

Naoto is very intelligent and analytical. A running gag, however, is that she texts in all caps with abbreviations, for example, "SEE U TOMORROW? Y/N PLZ REPLY ASAP" and "I HAVE IMPORTANT INFORMATION 4 U, PLZ SEE ME TOMORROW AFTER SCHOOL"

Naoto's insecurities are her gender and age. She yearns to be seen as an adult, and expresses frustration at being treated like a child by the police force. She hates being looked down upon, and fears no one will take her seriously as a female, in a sexist occupation field. The sexism Naoto has tolerated and endured had made her self-conscious and ashamed of being female, making her struggle with the concept of femininity. In response, Naoto desired to be male; Naoto wanted to be viewed as male by society, adopted a male identity, never corrected anyone when people used male pronouns, avoided feminine clothing and wears platform shoes to appear taller. It is also implied Naoto began binding her chest to hide her large-sized breasts.

After dealing with her Shadow, Naoto decides to give being female another try. However, Naoto still has difficulty accepting being female in her Social Link. By the end of the game, due to her own will and with Yu Narukami's help, she accepts the fact she does not always need to change who she is to suit the world. In the epilogue of Persona 4 Golden, she has started dressing more freely, disguising her femininity less than before. She is comfortable with not only who she is, but also that everyone else is aware that she is female.

Despite her mature nature, Naoto has a shy side to her, as she refuses to wear a bikini at the Yasogami Beauty Pageant, but still manages to win despite dropping out of the swimsuit part because of her endearing popularity among voters. She also becomes embarrassed during the Investigation Team's visit to the Amagi Inn, when the schedules for the hot springs' use were confused. During the ski trip in Persona 4 Golden, Naoto appears to be afraid of ghost stories. And when in a state of fear and/or panic, her voice becomes more feminine than usual, possibly meaning she only has a masculine voice when she is composed.

  • Impressive, Tatsumi-kun. I feel so confident when we fight together. I can hardly wait until our next match,

A cool and well-respected upperclassman, he is serious and determined, as well as cracking small jokes on small occasions. Of all members of the group, he is the most prone to sarcasm, one instance being if the protagonist talks to him while he and Junpei are taking a break from studying for first semester midterms, stating that Junpei isn't studying for his exams as Mitsuru told everyone to go back to their routines. He tends to show his excitement for a big challenge, something that eventually rubs off on Junpei. He is eager to train and fight, often to a fault. Early on in the game, when he is injured due to a fight with one of the twelve full moon Shadows, he will repeatedly express interest in fighting despite being unable to. This draws criticism from Mitsuru, who views Akihiko's eagerness to fight as if he treats their work as a game. At one point, Yukari even accuses him of caring more about having a good fight than doing the right thing. However, he is a kind young man who will go out of his way to help someone, which is shown when he was willing to take any chance to save Fuuka from Tartarus despite having never met her before, even after Junpei and Yukari pointed out that she had been there for ten days (or ten hours from her perspective) and most likely couldn't have survived.

Voice Actress: Tara Platt (https://youtu.be/_acWrecZ4F8)

She is heir to the Kirijo Group and a student at Gekkoukan High School.

She is calm, confident, mature, responsible, wise and very intelligent despite being a high school student. However, she may be interpreted as slightly arrogant, conceited, cold-hearted or overconfident. As events unfold, this may be a front of maturity, due to her assumed role as the leader of SEES. Her Persona Arcana is the Empress, which fits with the "motherly/older sisterly" role she plays in the group.

She has a streak of strict conduct. Per formal Japanese culture, she is the only member of SEES who formally addresses her fellow club mates by their last names. Akihiko Sanada is an exception to this, as the two are good friends and have known each other since junior high. Eventually, she becomes more familiar with the other SEES members and refers to Yukari Takeba on a first-name basis, and the others' on occasion. She is also very insistent with the team keeping their grades up, going so far as to sign them up for summer classes behind their backs. She is also outspoken and has zero tolerance for prejudice. For example when the female protagonist is elected leader and Junpei Iori is annoyed because "he's the only guy in the group," She sternly tells him that "Whether one is a man or woman doesn't factor into it. The responsibility falls to those who have the gift. And let me add, if you ever say or do anything to condescend to her because she's a woman..."

  • Whenever I'm with you, I feel driven to reach greater heights... I guess the word "rivals" suits us well.

  • No need to be so formal, the fight is over. Besides, it's important for a soldier to find rest whenever she can.

  • From time to time, my victims will request a second execution just after the first. Do these poor souls crave my judgement because they simply cannot judge themselves?

Voice Actress: Karen Strassman (https://youtu.be/8AHqebcYmao)

She is an anti-Shadow weapon (seemingly the last one in existence) and a member of S.E.E.S. She is also the main protagonist of The Answer, the epilogue of Persona 3 FES.

Her initial personality is simply a robot designed to obey orders, although she is drawn to the protagonist and states that it is very important for her to be by his side, going so far as to hug them in front of everyone. Her desire to protect the protagonist is so strong, in fact, that she was able to overcome Ikutsuki's programming and free the entire team from their shackles, when Ikutsuki had attempted to sacrifice them to bring forth the Fall. As a result of having no emotions, Aigis' social skills are more-or-less non-existent; it's frequently noted on-screen that while she may look human, she is far from passing as one. She is prone to doing very strange and socially unacceptable things, such as breaking into the protagonist's room to wake him up and requesting to be on standby in their room, which Yukari calls her out for. A video recording shows that she has a habit of breaking into his dorm room at night in order to check on him, even going so far as to keep a record of how long it takes her to pick the lock, In Falling Down, she even goes so far as to sneak into the boy's rooms during the group's stay in Kyoto, claiming it was unfair that she and Makoto weren't in the same room. Lack of social grace notwithstanding, Aigis is nonetheless very polite to everybody, always using the honorific '-san' when addressing them.

  • Narukami-san. When I am with you, a feeling of nostalgia washes over me... It reminds me of someone.

  • High speed navagational sequence active. Closing in on waypoint. It seems the two of us are perfectly synchronized.

Known as the Lethal Elevator Attendant, she is one of the important characters in Persona 3,  The Velvet Room is a realm that exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. The master of the Velvet Room, the enigmatic Igor, has offered his services of helping those with the power of Persona unlock the depths of their strength over countless years, often with the help of an assistant. She is one such assistant, having lent her aid to a blue-haired boy (named Makoto Yuki) exploring the tower of Tartarus, then later Aegis. The eccentric girl took a liking to the young man, in particular, such that when he laid down his life to protect his friends and humankind from a terrible threat, she devoted herself to finding a way to liberate his soul while keeping the dark force he made the ultimate sacrifice to seal at bay.

During a crisis in two P1-Tournaments, she encountered Yu Narukami, whom she and other Shadow Operatives' former S.E.E.S members reminded him of the late blue-haired boy. At the same crisis, she reunites with her younger siblings Margaret and Theodore observing Yu, Tohru Adachi, and Sho Minazuki, before parting to their respective current objectives when the crisis over.

A 5th Generation Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon

Due to her larger Plume of Dusk, her personality developed quicker than the other mechanical maidens. She is a caring individual who doesn't want to hurt, let alone kill, anyone she cares about. When she thought she was the human student council president, she was serious, strict, and responsible.

The growth of her ego can be observed within her thoughts. Moments after her first activation, her' thoughts are extremely simple to understand and consist of the usual technical statements. The more Plumes of Dusk she absorbs, she becomes increasingly eloquent and starts to develop emotions, eventually culminating in her friendship with Unit #024. Even more interestingly, this does not apply to her speech that much since she speaks with an accent directly after her activation.

Known as the Egocentric Police Dick. He's the main (later true secondary) antagonist in Persona 4,

A police detective sent to work in Yasoinaba, and assistant to Yu Narukami's uncle, Ryotaro Dojima. While he initially seems like a goofy, clumsy buffoon, it is revealed that he is, in fact, the man behind Inaba's gruesome string of murders. Being sent to work out in a middle-of-nowhere town in spite of being the top of his class in the police academy, he became disillusioned by the way he perceived how the world had treated him. When he discovered his power to enter the TV World and send others in as well by accidentally pushing news reporter Mayumi Yamano in, he saw no problem in also forcing high school student Saki Konishi into the TV, knowing it would lead to her death, which lead Saki's lover, Yosuke Hanamura begin to join Yu's team. He even manipulated the ex-city council secretary Taro Namatame to throw the later victims into the TV for him under the impression that he was saving them from being murdered, thus continuing Adachi's "game". Despite being a murderer, Adachi is shown to have a limit when it comes to having involved little children into their doom like Ryotaro's niece, Nanako is not his style. After nearly a year of this, the Investigation Team discovered Adachi, chased him into the TV World, and brought the killer to justice, at which point Adachi accepted that he had lost the game. During a final battle against the Investigation Team where he was possessed by Ameno Sagiri, Adachi realize that he is not the only one who was toyed by his universe's Izanami (the same gas conductor he first met upon arriving at Inaba) into her scheme, Yu and Taro as well, thus warned Yu to end Izanami's schemes.

While spending time at jail, Adachi himself became a model prisoner. When Yu and his friends, alongside the previous Persona users within Shadow Operatives (formerly S.E.E.S.) all end up being the subjects to a Midnight Channel fighting tournament known as P-1 Grand Prix hosted by "General Teddie", for the culprit's deadly entertainments, Adachi was freed by the same culprits who started P-1 tournament, a young man with split personalities, Sho Minazuki, and “General Teddie” himself, into aiding them enacting their final plan to destroy all worlds with Shadows by announcing P-1 Climax, held in the real world under the second Dark Hour instead of TV World. Despite this, Adachi went undercover on secretly aiding Yu and his friends to stop the imposter Teddie’s destructively evil scheme, while also exploiting Sho is just like he was before, being an unwitting pawn to the deities of destruction.

The main protagonist of Under Night In-Birth. A second-year high school student who was attacked by a Void on his walk back home from school. His life was saved by Linne, a strange girl he encountered a few days earlier. Having awakened as an In-Birth, he is taken under Linne's wing and begins training under her and her companion Waldstein, preparing himself for when the Hollow Night comes again. His association with Linne quickly earns him a reputation out in the night as the Unknown Actor, and later gains further notoriety by his possession of a particular blade. In his regular life, he is close friends with Orie, a childhood friend to Yuzuriha, and unknowningly becomes a rival to Seth.

Straight-forward and strong-willed, Hyde is an individual who gives his all to any challenge before him and doesn't back down from a fight. Although normally cool-headed, he has a cocky and reckless side to him and tends to head into extremely dangerous situations. Hyde has stated that he has no desire for power and only wants to live his life like a normal person.

Hyde is someone who greatly values his friends and comrades. Although he is capable of using Insulator to kill Linne, he decides to postpone doing so as he feels that she has much more to teach him. He was also hesitant to fight Orie due to the positive relationship they have and offers Vatista a place to stay until she completes her mission.

  • I can take care of myself, Linne. Let me continue to fight by your side.

  • Little too late to worry about that. It has been...ever since that fateful night...

  • Whether here or in the Hollow Night, I can't avoid fighting. Sorry, Ruby. I'd like your help, but I don't want to subject you to these endless attacks.

The main heroine of Under Night In-Birth. The Princess of Night Blade, who saved Hyde Kido when he was attacked by a Void. During the schism within the Night Blade, one of the village elders decided to hide away the knowledge of EXS and divide it within two individuals, Kuon and his sister Linne. While Kuon volunteered, Linne did not and a seal was laid on her soul, turning it immortal. Because of this, Linne is unable to truly die as she awakens in the body of a random girl wherever her current body fails her. For over two hundred years, she has traveled across Japan with her companion and guardian, Waldstein, investigating the Hollow Nights and searching for a means to permanently end her life.. She now currently takes residence in Hyde's home waiting for the next Hollow Night.

Linne's a stoic, aloof, and independent girl who tends to try resolving matters on her own regardless of how dangerous the situation is.

A member of the Night Blade who  lives eternal life within a body that looks like a monster and serves and protects Linne. Formerly a high-ranking member of Licht Kreis and a personal friend to its leader Adelheit, Waldstein was sent to fight against the Night Blade where he dueled Kuon in single combat. Waldstein was defeated but when he made contact with Kuon's massive reservoir of EXS, he began to transform into a Void. Kuon was able to save him and out of gratitude, Waldstein swore his loyalities to him and sent back the army of Licht Kreis as his last order. Kuon soon departed from his home and entrusted Waldstein to protect his younger sister Linne and the duo soon departed as well and they have been traveling together since.

Having been in countless battles, Waldstein enjoys fighting skilled opponents and is always prepared to accept a challenge. However, he appears to be rather absent-minded as he openly stated to Gordeau that he was serving as a distraction while Linne and Hyde were heading to Paradox and wasn't aware of the implications of doing so until Gordeau explained it to him.

Despite Waldstein's hunger for battle, he has a softer and compassionate side to him, especially towards Linne. He is extremely loyal to her, following her orders without question and worrying about her well-being. He also spares Hilda's life to "return the favor" for sparing Linne's.

  • Princess... As I say daily... you must train your body! Power is the heart of combat, and it only resides within those who train! With those scrawny arms, you shall accomplish nothing!

  • Don't make me laugh. Little tricks and gambits are meaningless in the face of raw power. My claws will make short work of them.

A prolific in-birth who is not affiliated with any organization out in the Hollow Night despite many expressing interests in his talents. Carmine is out in the night for the simple thrill of showing off his abilities and reveling in the wanton violence that the night sanctions. He is a third-year at Hyde's high school and the name Carmine is apparently something he picked up instead of being his actual name.

After he awakened to his powers as an In-Birth, he has been living just for fighting. However, Carmine is also well aware of the conflict between Licht Kreis and Amnesia even though he hasn't joined any organization.

Carmine's most prominent trait is his thirst for violence. Cruel, sadistic, foul-mouthed, short-tempered, and prone to maniacal laughter, Carmine is very proud of his ability and doesn't hesitate to use it to inflict as much pain as possible to anyone who "pisses [him] off". He will, however, not administer the killing blow if his anger is sated shown with both Hyde and Hilda in his story.

He is aware of Licht Kreis and Amnesia, possibly showing some hidden insight; yet doesn't care for either of them. To Carmine, all that matters is killing those that irritate him.

  • Shut up and stop pissing me off. I don't want any of your stinking animal blood on my hands.

  • Weak! You're too weak! If I were as weak as you, I'd want to di--OW! The hell was that for!?

Her position as an Executor has her out in the night to pacify violent in-births and slay any voids she encounters. She leads her squad consisting of herself, Mika, Kaguya, and Lex who were all sent to Japan to investigate the city of Kanzakai and its recent rise of in-birth activity. Outside of her life as an Executor, she is a second year high-school student and Hyde's friend.

She is extremely loyal to Licht Kreis and fights to uphold the peace and order that it brings to the world. However, although she does not doubt the intentions of the organization, she can't help but feel that Licht Kreis may not be as noble as she believed due to the extremely questionable actions of some of her fellow members, particularly Erika Wagner.

An incredibly powerful In-Birth and an ex-member and one of the founders of Amnesia, an organization that aims to bring more freedom into the Hollow Night. Orignally known as the "Harvester of Greed". Gordeau left the organization after his friend, Roger, transformed into a Void and was cut down soon afterwards by Erika Wagner, the Crimson Knight and one of Licht Kreis' more volatile members. Since then, he has been hunting his friend's killer out in the night while still being in contact with his allies in Amnesia. On regular nights he works as a simple bartender in a seedier side of town.

He has a very laid-back and carefree demeanor, rarely letting anything bother him and occasionally cracking jokes at others' expense, though even he has his limits when it comes to patience with unreasonable people.

Although he has defected from Amnesia, he still cares for his comrades and is willing to put himself in harm's way for their sake. It is this loyalty that led to him to personally hunt down the Crimson Knight to avenge Roger (formerly known as Bob), whom she had ruthlessly killed after he turned into a Void.

  • Look, isn't it about time you drop the act? My instincts are telling me that you are RIPE for harvesting...

A former human whose transformation into a Void wasn't completed successfully.

Like all Voids, he has the desire to consume EXS and does not seem to try resisting it. However, he appears to still retain some fragments of his humanity. He genuinely thanks those who try to reason with him as if he was still human and respects those who are unafraid of him, although he dislikes those who gawk at him.

He was once a human who pursued the status of a Re-Birth, but he was consumed by the Power of Existence and turned into a Void. For some reason he managed to retain his consciousness and ability to speak, though he lost his memories at the same time. Ever since his new body has craved for more and more EXS to devour. The only memory he retains of his human life is a small girl crying but doesn't remember why.

An ancient humanoid weapon, known as an Autonomic Nerve, awoken by the recent increase in In-Birth and EXS. While she does not explicitly remember it, she was involved with the conflict between the Night Blade and Licht Kreis during the days of Kuon.

Due to her origin as an Autonomic Nerve, Vatista possesses little desire beyond completing her mission. While her mission dictates that she must kill Voids and cull the In-Birth population, there are times where she will show mercy to those she is meant to kill and occasionally shows genuine emotions. Comically, she seems to lack what most people would consider common sense, having difficulty understanding the concept of clothing when Hyde tried to explain and not understanding the implications of standing in a single public spot for an entire month. The former would later become a recurring joke in the story whenever a second female character is involved, with Vatista asking Hyde if he forced the girl to wear clothes as well.

A cheerful young woman whose family is connected to the Night Blade.

She is very cheerful and carefree, acting like anything that goes on around her doesn't seem to bother her. She affectionately refers to her sword as "Ayame" and her smartphone as "Felia" (both with the "chan" honorific). She is also someone who doesn't hold very serious grudges, having already forgiven Hyde for his actions in the past and tells Hilda to rethink her decision on becoming a Re-Birth. Despite her seemingly happy-go-lucky attitude, she possesses a serious and realistic side to her. Since obtaining her sword, she has taken it upon herself to be the guardian of the city and killing any Void she encounters and admits that her abilities are far from being perfected. When encountering Hilda, she states that carrying an unconscious Hyde and Linne would be more troublesome than fighting Hilda herself, showing a bold and cocky side to her personality as well.

Years ago, her ancestors worked for the Night Blade. After the Licht Kreis first appeared and started to fight against the Night Blade for the control of the Hollow Night, her ancestors were fed up with the fighting and decided to betray the Night Blade and start their lives anew. The only thing they had kept from the Night Blade is the Iris Sword passed down on their lineage. Her family then started to hold a sword-fighting dojo, from where she was taught her family's sword-style. Around the time, when Hyde Kido went to elementary school, he met her at the dojo. The two have been friends since that point, but their relationship has gotten awkward after a "certain incident", which has left Hyde guilt-ridden ever since.

The Uncommon Dazzling Dark Witch. Also known as "Paradox" is a decoy main antagonist who is a founding member of Amnesia alongside Gordeau the Harvester and Roger the Survivor, where she is its leader, despite her younger age.

An extravagant diva who leads "Amnesia", an organization opposing the Night Blade and Licht Kreis seeking to gain control over the Hollow Night for their own nefarious purposes, she believes that the Hollow Night needs brand new rules and more freedom. She is interested in the Insulator (now owned by Hyde Kido, and the Autonomic Nerves, since one of them who is Vatista invented the sword that was first used by Linne's now fallen brother, Kuon. After founding Amnesia, she and her fellow founder, Gordeau presumably the one who saved Bloody Chaos from being eaten by the Voids, and considered him useful Amnesia's strategist, when the youth himself infiltrated Litch Kreis' guarded abandoned library, stealing the Book of Chaos Code.

Hilda, herself, claims to seek the power to become a "Re-Birth", an existence that surpasses an In-Birth, so she can destroy the "old leaders" of the world with her own hands, which proves to be true, ever since the incident involving Roger's downfall into a fallen Void by the Hollow Night's Abyss pressure, and Litch Kreis' Wagner killed him in cold blood, instead of by Gordeau, affecting every members of Amnesia and cause Gordeau to depart with guilt for not doing a mercy kill on his fallen friend in the first place. According to Chaos when devising new rules, since Hilda's In-Birth power level is so strong, she is immune to the Abyss' influences because she is, with only she can reach the power of Re-Birth

But in her own story she plans to become a "spear" that will pierce through the Door of Resurrection that lies at the bottom of the Abyss. This way she can accomplish what she calls The Banquet of Hazy Truth, Dia Liber, although these could be the terms identifying the process of becoming one. Her true goals, however, are unknown...and little does she know, she is but a pawn for one who has already attained such power..., Kuon himself.

  • You’re just my type. Would you like to join me in Amnesia? I think you’d make an excellent servant.

  • I expected nothing less from the queen. Now, why don’t you show me all the different ways you carry out your executions! My body’s trembling in anticipation.

A member of Licht Kreis and a good friend of Orie Ballardiae. Avery spunky and cheerful young girl who greatly looks up to her friends and superiors. She is also very hyperactive and will frequently pepper her speech with sudden and, more often than not, completely unrelated remarks and comments, her most common trait being her ending her sentences in "Yuu". She has also proven herself to be extremely gullible, most likely brought about by her low intelligence. Despite all of this, she is very immature and will react to certain situations in a very childish manner. Should she not get her own way, she will throw a tantrum worthy of a toddler and most likely damage something in the process.

She is ranked within Licht Kreis as the "Tenth Executor", which is quite deceptive, as her powers are comparable to the Crimson Knight's. She wears "Pachelbel Cannon" over her arms, a pair of legendary gauntlets of formidable size and weight, which offer an unprecedented amount of power and defense. She enters the Hollow Night to save her friend, but whether she helps or ends up causing trouble is another story...

  • You fight with a certain purity and strength. I think I’d like to spar with you one day.

  • You’re a walking arsenal… So many weapons, so much technical might! Could I please…ask you to train me?

  • I was shocked by your appearance, but once you drew your blade. I knew I was working with a formidable warrior. Do forgive me for my initial rudeness.

A former student of Beacon Academy and the main protagonist of RWBY. Her weapon of choice is her High-Caliber Sniper-Scythe known as Crescent Rose.

She was visiting the grave of her deceased mother, Summer Rose. After an invitation from Headmaster Ozpin following an altercation with Roman Torchwick, Ruby attends Beacon Academy in order to become a Huntress. During her time at Beacon, she becomes the leader of Team RWBY, consisting of Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and her half-sister, Yang Xiao Long. However, following the Fall of Beacon, Ruby travels to Haven Academy as a member of Team RNJR with the remaining members of Team JNPR, and Team RWBY reunites.

  • Whoa, your weapon transform too, right!? And, it looks just like Crescent Rose! Hey, what other tricks can it do!? How much does it weigh? What's it made out of!? Can I hold it? Please? Please?

  • Naw, it's okay! As a Huntress, it's my duty to help those in need! Besides...it's kind of exciting! Hehe.

  • Hah! When my big sis and I team up, we're invincible! Hey, think we should team up with Weiss and Blake next time?

Voice Actress: Kara Eberle (https://youtu.be/I9aEntAeebo)

A former student of Beacon Academy and one of the main protagonists of RWBY. Her weapon of choice is a Multi Action Dust Rapier (MADR) named Myrtenaster.

The former heiress of the vastly influential Schnee Dust Company. After enrolling in Beacon against the wishes of her father, she becomes a member of Team RWBY alongside Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long.

Monty Oum had said that everything has been decided for Weiss in her life, and because of it, she is a bit of a rebel. This manifests itself in her physical appearance as she wears her ponytail to the side of her head, disrupting the symmetry of the rest of her outfit. When Professor Port states that Weiss has received everything she wanted in life, she responds that it is not entirely true, thinking of her father's attitude. She takes pride in her name and the company, though, as seen when she first meets Blake Belladonna, when she discusses it with her team in Mountain Glenn and when she confronts her father over it.

Considering the lyrics of her leitmotif "Mirror Mirror", it is very likely that Weiss felt lonely throughout her life, which translated into a cold nature. Constant attacks by the White Fang added heavy strain to her life, explaining her often difficult personality. After warming up to people, she places a great deal of trust in her friends and confides in them when she feels the need without abandoning her usual strict attitude.

  • How did you like our dance? Did you enjoy the storm of fire and ice?

  • Do you mind!? It's fine to improvise, but would you at least mind listening to your leader's instructions a LITTLE?

  • I swear, that girl... She's always get carried away. Sometimes I feel like she'd drive me crazy if I were anyone else.

Voice Actress: Arryn Zech (https://youtu.be/Xc3yjHeNT-Q)

A former student at Beacon Academy and another of the main protagonists of RWBY. Her weapon of choice is a Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe (VBCS) named Gambol Shroud.

She was alongside Adam Taurus, her then-boyfriend, partner and mentor in the White Fang, a Faunus terrorist group. After leaving the organization, Blake enrolled at Beacon Academy, where she becomes a member of Team RWBY alongside Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Yang Xiao Long.

She displays a cool, reserved, and serious personality most of the time but does not lack a humorous side usually in the form of dry wit and sarcasm. Blake is a righteous person, respecting other people's lives regardless of whether they are Faunus. She strongly despises those who judge and discriminate based on racial prejudice. Blake is outspoken, going so far as to indirectly insult the Schnee Dust Company in front of its heiress and defend Faunus of any kind.

Blake is shown to be an introvert. Though she reads books to distance herself from the discussion at hand, as the series continues, she is shown to be more facetious and friendly. Blake appears most conversant when discussing the history and plight of her people.

As a Faunus, Blake has faced discrimination in the past and wears a bow when around Humans in order to be treated for her character and not her species. However, despite having no hate for Humans, she has seen how the real world works and wonders how she can undo so many years of hate and pain.

Blake's past negatively influenced her personality, leading to stubbornness, sleep deprivation and trust issues at times; however, she has a strong sense of righteousness. As a member of the White Fang during its former, peaceful leadership, Blake strongly disagrees with the level of violence and hatred they exhibit toward Humans. She sees her Semblance as a prospect of her tendency to avoid conflict, especially when caused by the White Fang, but Sun persuades her to let her friends help her as much as she believes she is helping them. She uses this in turn to persuade Ilia to leave the White Fang and to confront Adam with others' help.

  • Don't worry about me... I'm used to fighting people who use laido.

  • That went pretty well. But I guess it always does for the Ice Queen.

  • I'm a member of Team RWBY (Ruby), I cant afford to disappoint. For my teammates' sake and my own.

A former student at Beacon Academy and another of the main protagonists of RWBY. Her weapons of choice are a pair of Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets, Ember Celica.

She was searching for clues regarding the whereabouts of her mother, who left her when she was very young. At Beacon, Yang becomes a member of Team RWBY alongside her younger half-sister Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Blake Belladonna.

She is very straightforward and confident. She’s also a cheerful, energetic and bright young lady. She is arguably the most flippant, carefree and adventurous member of her team, frequently making sarcastic comments and jokes even in the heat of battle and often taking combat and hostile situations lightly. Yang is very sociable and extroverted, even in unfamiliar situations. Yang's love of adventure is the main reason she decided to become a Huntress. Blake considers Yang the personification of the word "strength".

However, Yang's "brawler" fighting style is evocative of her personality. Her anger, one of her main assets in battle, can lead her to act predictably. When her hair is cut during battle, her resulting anger leads her to attacking with straight, blunt force. Additionally, a grudge against Neopolitan led to frustration on Yang's part, which quickly cost her the battle and almost her life. Her thoughtless anger led to the quick loss of her right arm in a short encounter with Adam Taurus.

Despite these things, Yang is deceptively mature. She is extremely nurturing, particularly toward her younger sister, Ruby. Yang pushes her into being outgoing and also worries a great deal about her sister across the many battles they fight in. This protective and encouraging nature extends to Blake and Weiss as well. Yang is worried for Blake on several occasions, such as when she runs from her team and when she suffers from sleep and appetite problems, opening Yang to discussing her stubborn past. What Yang does not reveal is that she suffers from abandonment issues, blaming herself for her mother not sticking around.

  • Well, that was short lived. I'm still in the mood to fight, though. There's gotta be another opponent or two around here somewhere.

  • I didn't know what to expect at first, but you're pretty good. Especially...that cute Persona!

  • Gotta admit, taking us on took some guts. But charging in without thinking was a good way to lose.

Voice Actress: Casey Lee Willams (https://youtu.be/GBX08_yEYxM)

Known as the Right-Hand Illusionist, she is one of the recurring antagonists of the anime-styled cartoon web series RWBY.

The right-hand woman of Vale crime boss Roman Torchwick, much of Neo Politan's past is shrouded in mystery, none of which is helped by the fact that she's mute. First encountered by Team RWBY as they pursued Roman and the Faunus extremist group known as the White Fang, Neo's illusions facilitated a clean escape for her boss. A disasterous attempt from Yang to battle Neo later nearly ended fatally for and put on display just how out of RWBY's league Neo was. Outwitted by Ruby during the Battle of Beacon, Neo was powerless to save Roman from being killed, leaving her with an intense hatred and a craving for vengeance against everyone she felt was responsible for his death, with Cinder, and possibly Ruby, at the top of the list.

In battle Neo is something of a dancer that twirls, spins, and flips all about as she weaves in attacks. In addition with her semblance capable of producing illusions so convincing one can physically clash with them makes Neo is almost impossible to pin down. Finally her parasol, Hush, is capable of serving as a shield and contains a hidden blade in the tip making Neo more than capable of throwing down with your average Huntress even without Dust.

  • "..." (She doesn't speak at all, so provide some giggles, "hmmms," and other stuff a silent person would react to.)
