X Why Podcast Ep 3: Who Runs the World? | 4F 4M
Project Overview
ABOUT THE EPISODE
This episode discusses equality, feminism, and super powers! In this comedic short story, 2 average women discuss 2 very special women, and what we think of those with power. Pretty sure it passes the Bechdel test with flying colors.
ABOUT THE PODCAST
The X Why Podcast is an audio story podcast, acted by up-and-coming voice actors and written by up-and-coming authors. In this podcast we tell stories about relationships, gender, sex, and the things we share as human beings. Instead of focusing on what makes us different, we communicate the experiences of being male, female, and LGBT+ in a world that wants to subdivide us. Our goal is to communicate to those different from ourselves that we're all a bit weird, and it's just that weirdness that makes things fun.
X-Why Podcast is currently being published on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Youtube.
CASTING INFO:
- Acting ability is the most important thing I'm looking for, the second most important thing is a noiseless recording.
- I LOVE ad-libbing! If you have something to add to the role, feel free. Acting is about making a role your own and being yourself. Just make sure you are ADDING to the lines, and not ignoring what's written.
- These stories are not censored. Please make sure you are okay with cursing, sexuality, and the odd slur from the "bad guys".
- You are welcome to audition for multiple roles; do as many takes as you feel comfortable doing.
NOTE: This podcast's stories tackle the occasional divisive subject, and include people of color as well as various ethnicities and sexualities. You do not need to be the ethnicity or sexuality of the character to be cast. You just need to be able to act the lines in a convincing way.
ONCE CAST FOR THE ROLE I will message you a Discord server.

THANK YOU everyone that has auditioned. You have made my job that much harder because there were so many stellar auditions! Thank you for your submissions, and I will be finalizing the cast today. Normally I go through and provide feedback and thank each and every submission, but there were so many this time that I may not get a chance. So if I cast and it wasn't you, please don't be disheartened! There will be more episodes of X Why, and you are all great!
I am looking for writers of ALL gender/ethnic/sexual backgrounds that can understand the mission of X-Why Podcast, understand voice actors, and can help write stories moving forward. For balance with existing writers, extra consideration will be given if you're on the LGBT spectrum, as we need your voice.
If selected, you will be invited to join our Discord server Writer's Room. I will talk to you about on-brand writing styles and content, and we will knock around ideas. This will be a laid-back type of role. I am planning to hire multiple writers, so if you don't have a story one month, it's not a big deal as I am not placing writing requirements at this time. I also store writing prompts if you are out of ideas.
The goal is to have at least one episode of the podcast per month, written by me or another writer. Every story must be around the three themes of relationships (dating), sex, or gender.
Pay will be $25 for a short story, $50 for a full 45-minute episode if the story is selected.
Please submit a link to a writing sample you have, and tell me a little about your background, gender, and writing style!
Say something you think would fit
Mega Mom is a well-known superhero who has lived in the spotlight for some time now. Her identity as a woman of color and feminist icon has forced her to feel as though she has to be perfect all the time. When she's fighting crime, she is the perfect being everyone thinks she is. As a mom? Well, it's hard saving the city AND raising your kids. Mega Mom shatters the stereotype that mothers are infallible, and is unequivocally human and imperfect, despite her powers. Her voice is strong and slightly sarcastic. Roughly 30 lines.
[Super Stripper is blasted by Alpha Dog]
Mega Mom: Oh hell no. (Yelling) You're gonna pay for that!Mega Mom: (To SS) He is so sweet. You know he helped me bring in the groceries the other day? I've never understood how he ended up on that side of things.
Mega Mom: Ugh, I know. I'm a person too, you know? Like, my skin color shouldn't be a factor for a VILLAIN. Just because I'm famous doesn't mean I'm representing everyone of my color. That's racist. I need a drink.
Mega Mom: (Burps and sighs, scanning the cafe) What are YOU looking at, ladies?
Super Stripper is another well-known superhero that often works with Mega Mom. Super Stripper's voice is feminine, breathy, and almost cartoonishly sexy, which means not many people take her very seriously. Despite that, she still protects the city she loves along with Mega Mom (who gets most of the credit). Unknown to the men and women who make fun of her, Super Stripper is ridiculously smart, with one of the highest IQs in the world. She was raised educated and wealthy, and simply strips because she likes to. She has a growing following among modern feminists for being sexually liberated, but still can't seem to get respect from the people at large. She shatters the stereotype that sexual women cannot be intelligent or supportive of other women. Roughly 25 lines.
Super Stripper: (Yelling over crowds running from destruction) This is it, Alpha Dog! It's over!
Super Stripper: I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of me kicking your ass.
(Is shot with a power blast mid-sentence)
Super Stripper: No problem, Mega Mo- UGH!
Super Stripper: How plebeian. Concepts of gender and race are always so tiresome. We'll get you something, I promise.
Super Stripper: Would you like me to take the kids off your hands this weekend? I think you could use some time to recharge.
Your average non-super person, discussing our two heroes. Voice can be anything you like, as long as the lines are natural and conversational. Roughly 20 lines.
[Cafe ambience as muffled battle goes on outside, the patrons are aware but not affected]
Ugh. They're at it again.
I'm seriously surprised she hasn't had a nip-slip.
Probably. They can afford to be out in a super suit fighting crime. Oh and they can afford a super suit. I've got bills to pay. (Short pause) How many is that this month?
WHAT? Mega mom is raising not one, but TWO kids...uhh...while fighting crime - hello. What's not admirable about that?
Well sex isn't our only function either. I just think it's important because Mega Mom is a woman of color, that she's out there representing all of us. Myself included.
Your average non-super person, discussing our two heroes. Voice can be anything you like, as long as the lines are natural and conversational. Roughly 20 lines.
Do you think they can even GET insurance? Or...
If Super Stripper was a man, you wouldn't be complaining.
Wait, what? Super Stripper is WAY more feminist than Mega Mom. Super Stripper is reclaiming the shackles men have used to objectify us - revealing costumes - and making them OURS again. She's not ashamed of her sexuality, and she gets MEN to fork over their hard-earned cash just for showing some skin.
Women aren't defined by their ability to have children. Like being a mom is the BEST thing a woman can be? Shooting out kids isn't our only function!
Alpha Dog is an anthropomorphic dog-man super villain who is trying to take over the city, if only he could get past Mega Mom and Super Stripper. He doesn't even remotely respect Super Stripper, but sees issues with taking on Mega Mom. His voice sounds gruff and cartoonishly villainous. Roughly 10 lines.
(Trying to monologue before getting blasted)
Muahaha! You would be wise to-AGH!
Hahaha [evil laughter devolves into barking]. She asked for it with that outf...(startled/slightly scared) Mega Mom!
Well I - Oh. Well...uhh...It...I shall teach...(frustrated sigh). You will pay for...(frustrated sigh) Well, it's just. I mean, anything I say is going to sound... I - I have a lot of friends that are...you know...like you. (Nervous chuckle) You know, (rushed and mumbled) peopleofcolor. I - I- I'm just saying, it will look bad if I...
Super Villain. Ska Scraper is really tall and has the power to still think mid 90s ska is an amazing genre. Holds up a 'boom box' and forces others to listen to his favorite tunes while arguing with anyone that doesn't like it. Note: This is a small role with only one line.
(Yelling from far away) It's still a viable genre!
Super Villain. He just goes around making people’s days suck just a little bit, like putting a construction sign on a busy highway at rush hour, and the detours lead in a circle. I'd love for him to sound like The Underminer from The Incredibles, but I'm open to any villain voice you've got. Note: This is a small role with only one line.
BEHOLD! FOLLOW THE DETOUR SIGNS DURING RUSH HOUR...TO YOUR DOOOOOOM!
Super Villain? He's just so darn encourageable. A likably "normal" sounding guy. Note: This is a small role with only a few lines. Roughly 3.
[Overly dramatic intro music]
Hey.Uhh, he-hey Super Stripper. I know you have probably been too busy to answer my texts or...whatever...but you should really think about my offer to...
Kay.
