Project Overview

Hello CCC! The Last of Us is my favorite game of all time, so I wanted to do a fully-immersive play through and upload it to YouTube. To make this play through as immersive as it can be, I'm looking for a group of voice actors to bring to life the various notes and letters that can be found and collected throughout the game. If this turns out well, I'd love to do this with a play through of the sequel game as well.

I want to clarify that I am not looking for character voices. The best thing to me about the characters in The Last of Us is that they are as real as they can possibly be. Show me YOUR personality and YOUR voice. If you have an accent, let it shine. If you have a speech impediment, let it shine. However you talk, LET. IT. SHINE! 

I have provided five notes from the game. You're free to read as any single one of them you feel the most comfortable in. Note: You will not necessarily be cast to perform the note you audition for. These are just audition options. Once cast, you will be provided transcripts, a link to the discord and deadlines for your audio files.

I won't require that you have the best equipment, I just want a good clear sound. If your recording isn't clear and workable, I cannot cast you, no matter how good your audition may be.

  • Congratulations & Heads Up!

    Congrats to those who've been cast so far! I'll be reaching out to you within the week! There are so many perfect auditions that I am having a hard time making a choice on Ellie's mother and the soldier and I simply don't have enough time today to give this decision the deliberation it requires. However I will have these two roles cast within the next few days! If you were not cast, you may still want to keep an eye out for a message from me. I've taken note of many of you and will most likely want to work with you in the future. Once again, bravo to everyone!

  • Auditions Closed!

    Hey, everyone! Over the course of the past month or so, I have been tremendously and consistently wow'd by everyone's work. The project is now closed, and I will begin offering roles within the week. If the website is still allowing you to submit, go for it! I will continue to review submissions probably until the end of time. JK but seriously, if you submit, I will review it, even if it's past the deadline, until I have all roles cast. Thank you to everyone who has submitted, I appreciate your hard work. Bravo!

    I have been so pleasantly surprised at the response to this casting call! It's inspired me to offer as much opportunity as I can with this project. So, I'm inviting animators to submit for this project as well! The details on the style/requirements I'm looking for are under the newly added "Animator" role lower down in the casting call!

  • One open door. That's all it took. One of us forgot to close a door and a horde of those monsters entered our camp. We shut them in there and wrote a warning on the outside.

    Susan and a couple of the kids are with me. As far as I know, we're the only survivors. I had to hold Susan so she wouldn't run back in there — go back for the bodies. It's just too dangerous. She lost her children, and I have no clue what to say to her.

    Every part of my being just wants to give up. It'd be so easy to surrender to this world. I can't do that, though. I have too much faith in humanity.

    I've seen that we're still capable of good. We can make it. I have to stay strong... For her.

    It's official, school is closed indefinitely. I guess this outbreak is good for something. No school = no homework, which is fine by me. Now what do I do with all this free time?

    Mom and Dad were fighting. They were somehow yelling at each other while whispering at the same time. It sounded like Mom wants to leave - go to her sister's. Dad says it's safe here. That the outbreak won't reach our town.

    Dad yelled at me for listening to the radio. He says that the news is bullshit. Mom agreed with him while putting on a brave face, but I can tell she's scared. They both look scared.

I'd love to get animators involved! How I picture these notes/letters is more like an anthology of differently animated scenes as opposed to an over-arching uniform look. I'm looking for unique styles and passionate creators. I'm not excluding any singular style from consideration. Scenes will likely be between 30 seconds and two minutes. The animation does not need to be complicated. Simple, still frames (resembling storyboards) are acceptable!

Please drop links to any recent works or just tell me about your experience in the comments. If you're new to animation and don't have much, I'd love to see what kind of illustrations you can make up from any of these scenes posted here. I'd also love to hear what your main inspirations are!
