BASIC INFORMATION---
The mid 90's saw the release of one of the most peculiar iterations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise - 2 episodes of an anime OVA based on the hit 1987 cartoon show. It featured most of the characters from the show and boasted a similar art style while also introducing common anime tropes and "SuperMutant" transformations. The episodes have remained in relative obscurity for English speaking audiences (although English subtitled versions can be found online), and an official English dub has never been produced. This has left a gap that this project intends to fill.
We will be producing a professional quality dub for both 30-minute OVA episodes that will be shared to the StarForce Media YouTube channel in an effort to make this obscure piece of TMNT history a bit more accessible. We have revamped the dialogue scripts for the show to more closely align with the portrayals of the characters as they appear in the 1987 cartoon, and to better accommodate English dialogue being paired with the visuals.
VOICE ACTOR SPECIFICS---
As mentioned, the OVA episodes are heavily based on the 1987 cartoon series so, for characters that originated there, we will be looking to fill roles with voices that are similar to or at least capture the spirit and energy of those original voices. We've created a voice references video with samples of those voices for your convenience, and the characters descriptions below will mention if a reference voice exists. For characters original to the OVA, we are mostly open to actor interpretation - please review our notes for the character and have fun with the opportunity to create something entirely new.
We are looking for our dub to sound as professional as possible, so preference will be given to performers who can provide clean audio files. Recordings do not have to be completely free of noise, but please try to keep it to a minimum and eliminate reverb to increase your odds of being selected to join the cast.
Because this is a fan project, no revenue will be generated from the production of this dub so payment for participation is not possible, this is strictly a passion project being completed for fun and a love of all things TMNT. We recognize that our performers will essentially be donating their time and effort for us if cast, so we will not be imposing any unreasonable demands, but our StarForce Media YouTube channel has built a reputation of quality and professionalism over the last decade so we will ask that our intentionally lenient deadlines be respected and that performers be open to positive and constructive direction where provided. We stive to be flexible to work with, but communication is key. Discord will be utilized primarily for cast communication (though it is not required) and we would like to maintain a collaborative and friendly atmosphere amongst everyone involved.
Due to the nature of fandubbing, if a performer prefers to be credited under a pseudonym, we will be happy to accommodate that request.
2-3 varied takes per audition line is recommended. Final casting will occur after the casting call deadline.
