Hello everybody, and welcome to Sonic Ba2le! As I'm sure you noticed by the title, this is my take on a sequel to Sonic Battle for the GBA. Hence the pun name. This Project will be my first project as a game developer, and as such, means I'm gonna need some help. Probably more help than I'm asking for, but I'm stubborn so I want to make sure I do things my way.
The game itself will have many elements from Sonic Battle, but I'm not gonna be like every other person who makes a Sonic fangame, and just rehashes the same exact gameplay style with a few tweaks. This will be a completely different beast. Imagine taking the mechanics of the original Sonic Battle, then mixing those with Dragon Ball Xenoverse style 3D gameplay, and giving it a graphical style comparable to Sonic Rush on DS, or Megaman Legends. That's what this game will be. With it's own unique story, Voice Acting, and more, this thing is a bit crazy, but I'm determined to make it work.
For this Casting Call, what I'll be calling for is the most simple, and yet the most potentially annoying. The Voice Acting. Before I give you the rundown, I want to stress that this Casting Call will contain all the characters I plan to be in the Roster. If they aren't listed, that doesn't mean they'll not be in the game, it just means that someone else (Probably me) Is already doing the character for me. So don't come asking to be this or that, just audition for the roles listed, and have fun!
So here's the "rules".
1. Just as with any proper Casting Call, I must stress this over everything else. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, come in here, thinking you can audition with a dollar store mic. No phone Mics, No crappy USB's, I want something with decent quality sound. If there's a bit of background noise, that's fine, I can edit that out. But I can't edit shoddy mic quality. If it sucks, it sucks, so either get a better mic before you audition, or don't. P l e a s e .
2. This isn't as much of a rule, as a suggestion, so I won't be too picky. If you are a kid, or are furthermore inexperienced with Voice Acting, I'd suggest keeping away from this project. Not that you can't audition, but I really don't want people in this game that can't properly show emotion as their character, or sound like a 12 year old trying to do the character. If you're doin' this project, you better sound pretty dang close to what I ask for, alright? Don't waltz in here thinking you sound like the character, when you don't. Take some self reflection, and listen to your own recordings next to the actor I want you to sound like. If it doesn't sound close enough to them, either adjust and keep trying till it does, or audition somewhere else.
3. As an extension of the last regulation, This is a long term project. I am not a game developer, which means I'm gonna be learning a lot of stuff on my own in order to properly make this game the way I want. Another Casting Call will be held for me to possibly get some help with the development side of things, but I'm unreasonably stubborn about doing things my way, and as a result will only get minimal help or consultants. Therefore, I'd suggest if you're the type of spaghetti monster to join a project, and bail, or constantly not be online, or miss deadlines, just don't join. I want people I can rely on to help see this through to the end. And I more importantly want Voice Actors who have the experience, and will power to make things sound proper. I'm not the pickiest person about sound. You can do an impression six ways to Sunday. What I want, is some people who can light a fire in the hearts of the listeners. You aren't doing an impression for this game, you're doing a fully fledged character. This game has a lot of lines, with a lot of takes per line, So you better be pushing those lungs to their fullest capacity and giving it your all. No whisper screams, no dry emotion, I want every word to sound like it's coming from a person. If you laugh, you better laugh good. If you're talking casually, talk casually. If you're depressed, sound depressed. Whatever is asked of you in the script, you follow along. Now, this doesn't mean you can't improvise, or screw up and give me some bloopers. Those are fine, and I encourage them to help you grow. HOWEVER, I want this game to be finished within' the next century.
4. If you are auditioned for a role it's required that you have a Discord account. Then I can give you, and the rest of the cast quick, and concise instruction, and overall make things a bit easier. You should also prolly have a Google Drive just in case you lack Discord Nitro and want to send bigger Audio Files. So just make sure when you join, you're active on the server, and make sure you tell me of you have anything personal coming up, and won't meet a deadline or something. I'm an understanding guy, so I won't judge within reason of course.
5. I'm not too picky, since development will be very slow on this thing, I'd suggest you get your lines in asap. If you record stuff sooner, I can fit it into the game quicker, and hopefully minimize the damage done to my soul. I'm also going to say you must record 3 or more takes of the line with different inflections. This also includes the Casting Call itself. If you record 3 or more alternating versions of the line, I can better fit them in with everyone else's lines and make the conversation sound natural. If I end up not liking all the takes, you can always either re-record, or maybe we can set up a call and I can direct you personally. This kinda stuff will just make things easier, since then If I get a piece of the game done, I don't have to worry about waiting 20 years for some random dude to get his lines finished.
7. At the end of this pep talk of a rules section, here's this...
I'm not a picky dude. If you have anything to say to me, say it. Don't be afraid of big bad Jason, just cause he's the project header. I'm a soft guy, and I'm actually quite lenient on this stuff. I'm also not a game developer, so honestly this is probably more scary for me than it is for you. But the reason these rules seem so long and strict, Is because I want you guys to at least get a clear idea of what's expected of you. Try your best and have fun. I want this to be a fun and easy going project for everyone to enjoy, and more importantly, for YOU to enjoy making with me. So go on, audition for multiple characters, gimme some bloopers, whatever! And heck, maybe even toss some ideas my way. This may be my game, but I'm open to interpretations, and script changes if ya'll suggest it, and I end up liking it. Tails The Fox is Sonic's right hand man. An expert in technology with an IQ of 300, though still working to improve confidence skills. They've been through countless ordeals together facing Eggman off at every turn and scheme he comes up with next.
The voice used for tails should sound like the Amy Palant iteration of the Character. Here's a video for reference.

Silver The Hedgehog is a being from over 200 years in the future. His world is empty and broken, but something erased from time and space seems to still lurk in the back of his mind. He frequently returns to the past to find piece and quiet, hang out with his friend Blaze, or give some form of aid to our heroes. His unrivaled Psychic abilities make him a force to be reckoned with, and together with Blaze, nothing can stop him in his quest for everlasting piece.
His voice should sound like the Original sound of Pete Capella. Here's a video for reference.

Blaze is Silver's close friend, and travels to His Future, and Sonic's past frequently to Spend time with friends like Cream. She's serious and often takes charge, but despite her brash exterior, she holds a soft spot for her close friends. As protector of the Sol emeralds, her flames are more than enough to bring any foe to their knees. Her power is close to that of Sonic's and she has helped save worlds from extinction. Together with Silver, they are an unstoppable duo.
Her voice should sound like Erica Schroeder's version of the character. Here's a video for reference.

Dr. Eggman is the most dangerous scientist the world knows. Using his seemingly infinite supply of plans, robots, and tech, he's tried and failed many times to destroy Sonic and Friends and take over the world. His dream of the Eggman Empire, and Eggman land have almost succeeded but always fall short due to his Arch nemesis. Death robots, Ancient deities, Aliens, alternate universes, By any means necessary Eggman will see it through to the end. He's got the Master Plan, and nothing will stand in his way!
Eggman Nega is the nemesis of Blaze The Cat, and the Alternate Universe counterpart to our Eggman. His just as smart as our Doctor, but in some ways less and more threatening. He's up to something this time, but it's hard to tell what that may be...
Eggman's voice should sound like the currently used Mike Pollock, and Eggman Nega should be that but higher pitched and more weaselly. Here's videos for reference.

Cosmo is an alien from a race of planet like beings. She came to Sonic to help put a stop to the meterex, who were threatening the lives of all non plant creatures in the universe, trying to erase life from existence. She came to enjoy the company of her many friends, and even grew an attachment to Tails the fox. However, After a long battle, she sacrificed herself for the Meterex to be destroyed.
Some time later, Cosmo has now been revived by a mysterious third party, and is now under their control. A mindless being of destruction, she seeks to destroy the very same people she saved, and retrieve power for her new master.
Her Voice should sound like Amy Birnbaums interpretation of the character. You must be able to do the normal Voice, as well as an empty, soulless, and almost robotic sounding one for her being mind controlled. You can take liberties as this character is not as defined as others.
Normal - Happy : “I am Cosmo. Pleased to meet you!”
Firm : "Please Get out of my way!"
Mind Controlled - Empty : “I must terminate you now.”
Empty : "No Escape"

Shard was originally just like any other Metal Sonic. He was beaten by Sonic in the end, but unlike a lot of the others that came before him, Eggman gave him upgrades. With each new upgrade, he gained more and more of a personality. More, and more free will. Eventually, he was given a power crystal, which morphed him into Metal Sonic V2.5. He had his own cocky attitude, and was dead set on murdering Sonic. However, his consciousness gave him the truth, as he realized what he was doing was wrong, and sacrificed himself to save Sonic and Tails from a Volcano.
Some time had passed, and his power crystal was excavated from the rock that used to be the Volcano's magma. It was completely intact unlike his melted body, and still held all of his memories and programming. This crystal was put into a new body made from the scraps of certain other Metal Sonics that followed his creation, and thus Shard was born. Using his free will to help Sonic, and save the world, he now lives as a sentient freedom fighter. He has even grown an attraction to an AI, by the name of Nicole who also helped Sonic.
Shard is more stubborn, and cocky than Sonic, but has his own kind heart. His Voice, should be that of Sonic's but lower pitched, and carrying a slightly different attitude to things. Though he has no Voice, I'd go for a mix of Dante from Devil May Cry and Sonic. You're free to take liberties and give it your own spin. I would also recommend takes with and without a robotic filter for added effect.
Victorious : "Yeah! Accept no imitations!"
Casual : "Yo."
Angry : "You're really getting under my circuits!"
Confident : "Sorry chum, but playtimes over!"

Nicole was originally meant as a handheld computer for the freedom fighters. However, due to constantly being around the freedom fighters, as well as absorbing small amounts of ring energy over time, her programming has expanded, and she has gained sentients. Now acting as one of the most powerful AI's in existence, as well as a close friend to the freedom fighters. She has also gained a close friendship with the robot Shard, both acting as great teammates.
Her Voice should sound like Kath Soucie's performance in Sonic Satam if it were given soul, and emotions. Here's a video for reference.
Delighted : "Commencing Mission!"
Optimistic : "I'd say we've won!"
Focused : "Initiating recovery programs. Hang on!"
Concerned : "I don't think we can take another hit like that!"

Scourge was originally Anti Sonic / Evil Sonic. He came from an alternate universe, where things were far more chaotic and out of wack in comparison to the Mobius our heroes reside in. This Anti Sonic fought many battles against the real Sonic, before a fateful event occurred. He attempted to steal the Master Emeralds power, which ended up changing his body. Now Sporting Green fur, and blue eyes to contrast Sonic's Blue fur and Green eyes, he dubs his newfound self as Scourge, and continued to terrorize the heroes for many years to come. This psychotic hedgehog is not to be trifled with unless you have the backbone to stand up.
(Scourge is an alternate costume for Sonic and Super Sonic in the Free Battle / Multiplayer modes rather than his own Character slot, and will therefore not have any story related lines.)
Scourge is Sonic, but the cockiness dial turned up to 11, and an overall meaner mug to deal with. This should carry as his Voice should sound like Sonic, but if Sonic was a smooth talking, evil person. You can take liberties with your interpretations, but I'd like to see him with something like a Boston or Ausie accent.
Cocky : "Hail to the King, Baby."
Cocky : "Sorry Blue boy, but I'm just better."
Assured : "All it takes is one bad day, and you'll be on a mean streak like me. Let's make that one day today!"
Angry : "NO! I can't lose to a goody goody like you!"

Honey The Cat is an agile business person with a lot of spunk. She wishes to promote her brand any we she can, and is willing to fight for it herself. This was seen in her run in with the freedom fighters in a tournament, where she blatantly made a deal that if she won they would get the prized chaos emerald in exchange for the famous heroes showing off her clothing. She quickly grew to become friends with them, especially Amy Rose, who's dress is actually from the "Dream-Casters" Line Honey herself created. Both share a mutual admiration for each other. Both as a Martial Artist, and Fashion Designer, she's a force all her own.
Honey does not have a canonical Voice, but based on her personality, she should sound like a typical cutesy anime girl. This should also be able to drop into a more serious tone, as she's known to have an arrogant and destructive side behind her cute attitude. Here's a video with gameplay from Fighting Vipers, containing her inspiration Character of the Same name. Take liberties with the sound, and come up with something distinct for her.
Taunting : "All is Fair in Love and War, and Business is a little bit of both."
Angry : "Now you've done it! I'll make you pay for that, and then some!"
Pretending to care : "What's wrong? I didn't hurt you did I?"
Offering : "So, how would you like to be on the cover of my next clothing deal?"

Rouge is one of the worlds greatest treasure hunters, seeking any gems she gets her hands on. She's also a government spy on occasion, taking some of the most dangerous jobs for the payment of jewels. After befriending Shadow The Hedgehog, and E-123 Omega, she now works along side them under the Team Dark name. Working for G.U.N. has provided her many ample opportunities for jewel collecting, as well as a chance to show off her strength. She's far from a pushover, an expert in sneaking, and acrobatics, and a kick with power to rival the punches of Knuckles. She's playful, and sensual, but if you make her mad, it's on for sure. She's got a heart under that exterior however, always being there for her friends no matter what. Despite seeming to work for self interest, she holds life dear, and will do the right thing when it comes down to it.
Her Voice Should sound similar to the performance found in Sonic X, done by Kathleen Delaney. Here's a video for reference.

Vector is the money grubbing leader of the Chaotix Team. He's got a heart of gold, and a head full of money. If it pays good, and isn't outside his moral standard, he'll take a job, even to the dismay of his cohorts Charmy, and Espio. He's extremely powerful, but his combat skills fall short as he's very action first and talk later. His detective skills though sometimes failing him, are quite impressive. He's hard to reason with once his mind is set, but he's there to help out friends if the time comes. He also has an extreme infatuation with Vanilla The Rabbit, that sometimes gets him into more trouble than it's worth.
Vectors Voice should sound like Keith Silversteins interpretation of the Character. Here's a video for reference.

Espio is a member of the Chaotix Detective Agency. He is the quiet, and serious ninja of the group, who see's each job is done as well as possible. Though unfortunately as a part of the fated team, he often ends up having to pick up the slack for his two more bumbling Team members. His skills as a ninja are unmatched, and his detective work is on par, if not exceeding the abilities of their leader Vector. His ninja attitude is often disrupted by the presence of his 2 friends, and he is dragged along on jobs that do not bring him satisfaction. He will however, see them through to the end, no matter how dumb it may get.
Espio's Voice Should be a middle ground of Bill Corkery, and David Wills. Here's videos of their performances as reference.

The Created Character from Sonic Forces. He was once a cowardice civilian at the hands of Infinite, but grew to be a hero side by side with Sonic. He's able to use many forms of wisp related weaponry, and gadgets, and has the determination to vanquish evil.
He doesn't have a voice, but his grunts should be a higher, more anime protagonist esque sound. He mostly shows emotions through the sounds and gestures he makes, so make sure you can properly portray them.

Not much is known about this mysterious man, but the world is aware of his true power. Segata Sanshiro is an immortal Judo Master of immense, and unparalleled strength. His path is to teach all the ways of play, by beating the message clear into their head. "You must play Sega Saturn!" He stands for Sega, and all it's ideals, and trains his body using a giant Sega Saturn he straps to his back. After beating hundreds into submission, he was able to raise the sales of the Saturn in Japan above that of even Nintendo. He is Sega's Savior, and will do anything to show people that they are number one. He's also known to be dating Sakura from the series Sakura Wars. Do not mess with this powerful icon of Sega.
His Voice should be near identical to his performance by Hiroshi Fujioka, but in English. You should be able to not only say all of his Japanese phrases, but also say lines in English with his heavily accented Japanese tone. Here are videos for reference.

Cream is the young and kind hearted freedom fighter. Though not the most experienced in fighting, or much of life in general due to her small status, she more than makes up for it with her abilities of flight, usage of Cheese the Chao her companion, and willingness to try her best at anything she does. She's extremely well mannered, usually referring to people as Mr. Or Mrs. , and always listens to her mother Vanilla who's just as kind hearted. Though on the outside she seems small and weak, just as Tails, she is far more powerful than she lets on, being just as capable of taking down Eggmans machines as stronger freedom fighters.
Cream is a smaller and soft-spoken individual, and her voice should carry this same sound. Rebecca Honig is the preferred sound you should go for in this audition. Here's a video for reference.
