New World Adventures EMERGENCY RECAST!

New World Adventures EMERGENCY RECAST!

Project Overview

https://www.castingcall.club/projects/new-world-adventures for the original project.

The original actor for Kevar seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth, while the original actor for Alek is experiencing some challenging difficulties that cannot simply be dropped for an unpaid voice acting gig. Update: Our actor pulled through! No longer auditioning for Alek.

The role of Kevar will be a submission this time, not an audition. This means you read ALL of Kevar's lines, and if I choose you, you get a free book of the full story sent straight to your door, no matter where in the world you live.

Latest Updates

  • Change in direction

I know, radio silence, you all thought I had given up. I haven't. There has just been a change in direction as it's slowly starting to sink in that I will never see a cent out of this project. My quest for fame and fortune has hit failure after failure after failure. So, if I can't get any fortune, I'd at least like to try for fame. I have deleted the previous property rights rant at the end of episode 1. Episode 2 is now freely available to the world! Episodes 3 and 4 are also still in production. Also, Episodes 1-5 will soon be made available. I will not be creating an audiobook of episode 5, but at least you'll find out what happens next in the story. Expect it tomorrow. As for the timeline on everything else, expect my slow and steady pace to continue. You know the old "cheap-good-fast, pick two"? Well, I started going good-fast but now I'm going cheap-good. This project will still get finished, but feeding my family comes first. Here are the links for the first two episodes, so share the hell out of them: https://soundcloud.com/jonathon-philip-chambers/new-world-adventures-episode-1 https://soundcloud.com/jonathon-philip-chambers/new-world-adventures-episode-2 One last thing... everyone, just reach out to me. It's very lonely and depressing editing audio for hours on end, but even a smiley face emoji can really cheer me up, letting me know someone out there is actually reading my posts and/or listening to my work. This will happen. I promise you all. It just might not happen this year.
  • Episode 1 is live

Here is the link, to where you can download the file or listen to it streamed live. http://tabletopfiction.net/promoted-products.html (More compressed versions of that file are coming soon, but message me directly if you want a compressed version now.) The success of this project will be influenced by the reach of that link, so share it, make it go viral, put it everywhere, show everyone. It's under an attribution license, and the attribution is already inside the audio itself, so almost anything you could think of doing with it doesn't count as piracy. The other episodes are still coming. You can't rush art.
  • Episode 1 test screening

For those of you still not following my main project, please do, and also, here is the test screening of episode 1. You've got one week to show all your family and friends to get feedback on how it can be improved before I release it. Yes, you can put it on your facebook wall, but don't encourage people to share this one. Let them know that a superior version is coming next week that they SHOULD share. https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap4vkK0n_GJBnjjbCbhoT5G_CjAk
  • Please follow my main project

My main project is here https://www.castingcall.club/projects/new-world-adventures Please follow it, as CCC doesn't allow me to broadcast updates on all projects at once. Some of these updates can be quite important, and you wouldn't want to miss them.
  • Recommendations

Editing is coming along well. I'm able to produce one minute of correctly cut dialogue per hour. However I am learning a new workflow https://youtu.be/lB_-WaDsTlE so hopefully this will allow me to double my speed. I'll be trying it out tonight. Some of you may have noticed that recommendations are being heavily pushed by the new site update. I think it's nasty and exploitative that they're showing the total number next to your username, and I personally believe that no director honestly cares if you've got a zero or a hundred up there, but since it is becoming a thing and since, whether you've recorded one word or thousands, you took time out of your life to benefit me, I will write a detailed, honest, and heartfelt recommendation to anyone who asks. That way you can get some actor cred, which again, I don't think directors care about. Whether you're doing this for fun, or doing it for the career opportunity, I strongly hope that each and every one of you gets what you came for. I really do hope you've had fun.

Imagine Chris Hemsworth's Thor. This is Alek. Alek is a very focused man, and only has room for one emotion at a time, but when he feels an emotion, be it sadness, anger, or joy, he feels it to the maximum. His obsession, drive, and focus has lead him to become one of the greatest sword fighters in the world, but this is because Alek never does anything by halves, and doesn't complicate his life with excuses. He likes to keep things simple.

Alek speaks with a lot of confidence and authority, as he is used to being the leader in charge.

The role is 3,412 words long, and I'm going to want it done in one recording session. I know that's a big ask for just a book. So if you take this role, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Though I completely understand if I'm going to need to do this one myself.

  • ‘Tis all my fault. ‘Twas I who chose our marching order. Regdar trusted me. He followed my orders without question. I did not even think to have someone march backwards. He should still be alive, had I not been so blind. (Mourning Regdar's death)

  • Gwenevere bleeds!? (Sudden unexpected panic. Gwenevere is his wife. Shout this one.)

  • You are with child? (Overjoyed at becoming a father.)

Full context:

“Draw your sword Gwenevere,” muttered Alek, now holding his crossbow with both hands, “These parts are known for bandits.”
“I cannot wield a sword!” shouted Gwenevere.
“Draw it regardless!”

“I could show ya’ how ta wield it,” said the man holding a dagger to Gwenevere’s throat.
“Hands off her!” Alek was peering down the sights of his crossbow now.
“She ain’t worth it matey. Run a long and tell ’em that Kevar is takin’ care of ‘er now. I know how much you was paid, but he’ll prolly pay us tenfold.”
“Us?” Alek was about to turn around, but it was too late. His crossbow now gone, his fists clenched in fear and rage.
Someone tried to snatch Darrak’s axe from him, but got an open wound instead.
“Drop it dwarf! Or tell ya’ boss ya’ got ‘er killed!”
Darrak looked at Alek. Alek nodded reluctantly. After a pause, Darrak threw down his weapon.
An elbow to the gut and Gwenevere broke free. She ran until she saw the ground ahead catch fire.

“Ya’ surrounded!” said Kevar, another fireball forming above his hand. “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”

Extra comments:
Kevar is cocky. He likes his job, and the thought of things not going exactly his way doesn't even occur to him. I know his lines don't sound that funny, but he still thinks he is. To really get in the zone for this role, think of the most fun and joyful day you've ever had at the expense of someone you've truly hated. That's the frame of mind you need to be in to play as Kevar.

Common error:
Tenfold is said "TENfold" not "tenFOLD". The "ten" is the important part, because it's different than being paid "ninefold" or "elevenfold". The folding bit isn't the important bit of tenfold.

  • “I could show ya’ how ta wield it,”
“She ain’t worth it matey. Run a long and tell ’em that Kevar is takin’ care of ‘er now. I know how much you was paid, but he’ll prolly pay us tenfold.”

  • “Drop it dwarf! Or tell ya’ boss ya’ got ‘er killed!”"Huh!" (winded from being elbowed in the gut)

  • “Ya’ surrounded!” “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”
