New World Adventures EMERGENCY RECAST!
Michael kempf for Kevar
This is a submission, not an audition. If I like your lines, you will be in the book, and you'll get a copy of the book delivered to an address of your choosing. No further recording required.
Full context:
“I could show ya’ how ta wield it,” said the man holding a dagger to Gwenevere’s throat.
“Ya’ surrounded!” said Kevar, another fireball forming above his hand. “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”
Extra comments:
Kevar is cocky. He likes his job, and the thought of things not going exactly his way doesn't even occur to him. I know his lines don't sound that funny, but he still thinks he is. To really get in the zone for this role, think of the most fun and joyful day you've ever had at the expense of someone you've truly hated. That's the frame of mind you need to be in to play as Kevar.
Common error:
Tenfold is said "TENfold" not "tenFOLD". The "ten" is the important part, because it's different than being paid "ninefold" or "elevenfold". The folding bit isn't the important bit of tenfold.
“I could show ya’ how ta wield it,”
“She ain’t worth it matey. Run a long and tell ’em that Kevar is takin’ care of ‘er now. I know how much you was paid, but he’ll prolly pay us tenfold.”“Drop it dwarf! Or tell ya’ boss ya’ got ‘er killed!”"Huh!" (winded from being elbowed in the gut)
“Ya’ surrounded!” “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”
take 4 :)
I'm going to be out of town today and can't record until sunday
There's a hum in the background. When working with someone for a project, you should always keep your files as pure and untouched as possible, but for submissions and auditions, it's not cheating to do a little audio editing yourself, provided you're up front about it when asked. Directors want to hear what you'll sound like when the audio engineer is finished, and don't care too much about what you sound like before the audio engineer starts. Also with submissions, like this, you really can be the audio engineer yourself, and that adds more value to your work, because what you submitted was the entire project so you would have done all the audio engineering work. Audio quality aside, it was actually a very good submission. It is reaching the stage where there are many submissions I'd be ecstatically happy to have in my work, and if yours still sounds this good after the hum removal (noise removal always makes things sound worse overall) I'd definitely count this submission among them. The acting is solid. The voice is appropriate for the character. The intonation demonstrates that you understood the script and exactly how Kevar is thinking and feeling. I don't think you'll get the part, but you should be proud of this. Keep auditioning for things, and if you can fix up your audio quality issues, you may even land a few paid gigs.
As always your advice is solid! I didn't realise at the time, but that him was the a.c. on full blast. I didn't really have any say in the matter, but I'll just have to record when everyone is out, I suppose. As unfortunate as it is that I'll not be getting the part, I'm glad that you believe in my skill overall, and have to thank you for all the great advice you've given!
