Role assigned to: DaveyKVA

This is a submission, not an audition. If I like your lines, you will be in the book, and you'll get a copy of the book delivered to an address of your choosing. No further recording required.

Full context:

“Draw your sword Gwenevere,” muttered Alek, now holding his crossbow with both hands, “These parts are known for bandits.”
“I cannot wield a sword!” shouted Gwenevere.
“Draw it regardless!”

“I could show ya’ how ta wield it,” said the man holding a dagger to Gwenevere’s throat.
“Hands off her!” Alek was peering down the sights of his crossbow now.
“She ain’t worth it matey. Run a long and tell ’em that Kevar is takin’ care of ‘er now. I know how much you was paid, but he’ll prolly pay us tenfold.”
“Us?” Alek was about to turn around, but it was too late. His crossbow now gone, his fists clenched in fear and rage.
Someone tried to snatch Darrak’s axe from him, but got an open wound instead.
“Drop it dwarf! Or tell ya’ boss ya’ got ‘er killed!”
Darrak looked at Alek. Alek nodded reluctantly. After a pause, Darrak threw down his weapon.
An elbow to the gut and Gwenevere broke free. She ran until she saw the ground ahead catch fire.

“Ya’ surrounded!” said Kevar, another fireball forming above his hand. “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”

Extra comments:
Kevar is cocky. He likes his job, and the thought of things not going exactly his way doesn't even occur to him. I know his lines don't sound that funny, but he still thinks he is. To really get in the zone for this role, think of the most fun and joyful day you've ever had at the expense of someone you've truly hated. That's the frame of mind you need to be in to play as Kevar.

Common error:
Tenfold is said "TENfold" not "tenFOLD". The "ten" is the important part, because it's different than being paid "ninefold" or "elevenfold". The folding bit isn't the important bit of tenfold.

  • “I could show ya’ how ta wield it,”
“She ain’t worth it matey. Run a long and tell ’em that Kevar is takin’ care of ‘er now. I know how much you was paid, but he’ll prolly pay us tenfold.”

  • “Drop it dwarf! Or tell ya’ boss ya’ got ‘er killed!”"Huh!" (winded from being elbowed in the gut)

  • “Ya’ surrounded!” “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”

3rd take. Little deeper once more. Different take on the character

This is a submission, so you get away with it a lot more than you would have for an audition, but these different takes on Kevar all sound like the same Kevar. That is, if I were to take all these submissions, cut them up into lines, jumble up the lines, then sort them out again by voice, I wouldn't be able to. They're the same voice. Like I said, this is a submission, so minor differences are appreciated, but if you were to do those different voiced for an audition, you'd essentially be saying to the director, "Yeah, I can only do one voice. This is as high as it can possibly go, as low as it possibly can go, as fast as it possibly can go, as slow as it possibly can go, as happy as it possibly can go, as sad as it possibly can go, as energetic as it possibly can go, and as relaxed as it possibly can go. If you require anything outside of this range, I suggest getting someone else." It's not a bad submission, but it's essentially the same submission four times. I don't even know how I would choose between them, they are so similar. (Not exactly a bad thing for a submission, but never do this for an audition.)

You liked my original, which is why I tried not to stray too far from it..... Just subtle differences......But believe me I've a very vast range for which you know nothing of..... If you want something totally different from my original simply say so and it shall be.

Here's the thing. Think of the original as the colour blue. If that's the first colour you show me, I say I like it, then you show me similar shades of blue, we're not really getting anywhere. Rather, show me a bright red, and a solid yellow. From there I can say, "That red was terrible! Avoid it at all costs! The yellow was way too over the top, but if you could add maybe 10% more yellow to the blue, that would be perfect!" A good director should be able to imagine your different voices mixed together in his head. If you give me some more primary colours to work with, I can tell you the exact shade I want. But if you give me more of the same, there's no room to grow.

Completely understand. Nice logic. I can delete my previous auditions shortly while I come up with a solid character for Kevar that I think you'll like. Need to have a think

It's my policy to be helpful to unpaid actors. If you required payment, you'd be lucky to get "nope" out of me. Sounds harsh, but I cannot afford to give time AND money. You're not asking for my money, so you get my time.
