New World Adventures EMERGENCY RECAST!
DaveyKVA for Kevar
This is a submission, not an audition. If I like your lines, you will be in the book, and you'll get a copy of the book delivered to an address of your choosing. No further recording required.
Full context:
“I could show ya’ how ta wield it,” said the man holding a dagger to Gwenevere’s throat.
“Ya’ surrounded!” said Kevar, another fireball forming above his hand. “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”
Extra comments:
Kevar is cocky. He likes his job, and the thought of things not going exactly his way doesn't even occur to him. I know his lines don't sound that funny, but he still thinks he is. To really get in the zone for this role, think of the most fun and joyful day you've ever had at the expense of someone you've truly hated. That's the frame of mind you need to be in to play as Kevar.
Common error:
Tenfold is said "TENfold" not "tenFOLD". The "ten" is the important part, because it's different than being paid "ninefold" or "elevenfold". The folding bit isn't the important bit of tenfold.
“I could show ya’ how ta wield it,”
“She ain’t worth it matey. Run a long and tell ’em that Kevar is takin’ care of ‘er now. I know how much you was paid, but he’ll prolly pay us tenfold.”“Drop it dwarf! Or tell ya’ boss ya’ got ‘er killed!”"Huh!" (winded from being elbowed in the gut)
“Ya’ surrounded!” “Give the girl or ya’ all die!”
Haven't had much free time to ponder today. This is how i keep imagining the bandit..... somewhat... the word slimy comes to mind. However i'll leave it in your hands and await a notification. Any further direction is appreciatted
Ah that's the stuff. Three properly different voices. The only feedback that I think applies to all three, is I'd like them faster. Kevar is cocky, but he does know that speed is important to survival. A threat is only good if you can finish saying the threat before a crossbow bolt passes through your head. A dagger to Gwenevere's throat is only useful if everyone knows it's there. Take 1: That was an unexpected acquired taste. It's very common for the first thought to go through my head when listening to an audition is "the character sounds NOTHING like that!" but the second thought is sometimes, "why not? That's a perfectly valid way for the character to sound." That skin crawling slime you added to the voice works. I want Kevar to make your skin crawl, so why not achieve it through the voice? Well done. Unexpected, but it works well. Take 2: This is my least favourite. It's very... low heart rate. This is a heart pumping moment where the tables could turn in the blink of an eye. Deep down, Kevar is scared, but he's able to make his fear sound like excitement so that no one gets any funny ideas about being a hero. Take 3: You accidentally said "probably" the correct way instead of the way in the script. I have no idea why, but this last voice sounds like it has big bulging biceps, and I like it. Maybe blend takes 1 and 3 together, also adding the exact opposite of whatever is in take 2.
I'm on it 😎
