Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck: The prisoner of White Agony Creek [Comic Dub] (IN NEED FOR A SCROOGE AND A GOLDIE)

Project Overview

"Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" it's an epic comic saga written by Don Rosa, narrating the life of Scrooge McDuck and how he became the richest duck in the world. The saga, composed by 12 episodes, was expanded thoughout the years by Rosa himself who also wrote a series of additional adventures set during the saga itself or connected to it. "The prisoner of White Agony Creek" is the last story added to this saga and also the last story Rosa wrote. It depicts the love story between Scrooge McDuck and "Glittering" Goldie O'Gilt, during the month she spent with him at White Agony Creek.

This project is about the dubbing of this emotional, romantic story. Being a story that's roughly 30 pages long, I hope it won't take too long, but I'll need not only voice actors, but a video editor and an audio engineer (details are in the specific boxes about those particular roles).

For anyone who doesn't have Casting Call but wants to audition anyway, I'll soon post this request on the Voice Acting Amino and you'll be given my email to contact me and send me your auditions.

RULES:

1) If you audition, please consider you might be chosen and that in that case you'll have to be fully committed to this project. So please, don't abandon it if there's not a real, serious reason. If you have to abandon for any reason, talk to me privately and tell me, don't abandon me in the middle of the process without saying anything, please.

2) Show emotions: I'll try to give context about the lines you'll have to say, and you'll have to convey all the emotions you can in your auditions. I won't choose people that sound to me like robots.

3) You must have Discord: we'll communicate through it. If you want to talk to me privately, you are free to contact me on my mail.

4) I don't pretend perfect microphones, but I'd prefer ones with little to no noise and no unexpected clicks.

5) If you're chosen, you'll have to give me some online name to credit, since I (of course) want to recognize each one's job.

6) Be respectful to anyone involved in the project: that can be obvious, but I want everyone that is chosen to be extremely respectful to anyone. If there are any problems (even with me and\or the way I'm directing the project) please tell me and I'll try sorting them out.

7) Have fun! That's not quite a rule as much as an indication: I want people that are passionate and that like this project, and I hope we'll all get along and that I'll have the chance to meet people that like this story as much as I do.

I hope you'll get interested in this project and that many of you audition! Good luck and have fun!

  • Two roles filled!

Two of the "iconic" role from this comic have been cast! I decided to choose those auditions immideatly simply because they were really good impressions of the original ones, and that's what I wanted. Anyway, even if the role of "Huey, Dewey and Louie" has been cast, if you're interested in voicing one of the triplets you still can! I have yet to decide whether or not they'll be voiced by one or more actors, and other people auditioning and fitting the voice I've already chosen might be a good way to decide it lastly. So even if you see the role as closed, please feel free to audition! I'll tell you privately if you've been chosen or not!

I'll need someone editing the audio, involving not only the voice actor's voices, but the background noises as well. They'll be a lot of noises needed (including, for example, horses clapping and neeing, stuff crushing, bears roaring... -and of course beeping for all of Goldie cursing-), and they should be mixed well with the voices and with the video. I'd also like music playing under some scenes: if you get this role we could discuss about which music to put under which scene.

Editing a comic might be incredibly difficult. My idea for this particular project is using a style like the one portrayed in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4auLlMMHEQ&t=255s

By the way, I'm open to see other styles that can be used to preserve the cartoon and the text in the baloons. Also, the video editor should be ready to discuss with me about the way the comic strips should be presented and what the times of them appaering should be.

The young version of the iconic character. He already has the greed and the wanting for more and more of the original character, but he's also torn between the memories of his old self and what he is becoming. He loves gold and has forged himself, becoming richer and richer through his own ability and his own strength, so he believes is hard work and in being self-made.  He's adventurous: his hard working may be driven not only by his love for gold, but also by him having actual fun and loving the risk. In this particular story he's much more human than seen in usual stories: he constantly feels attracted to Goldie but at the same time doesn't trust her, trying to fiercly refuse her but ultimately demonstrating that he cares about her.

Since Old Scrooge speaks very little I'll choose the same actor for Old and Young Scrooge. I'd like something similar to Alan Young and David Tennant vocal depiction, only with a younger vibe in his voice. I want someone that can pull off a good Scottish accent.

  • (to Goldie, scolding her about stealing gold to gold diggers) It's not easy, is it? And consider all the equipment and tools we miners must carry on our backs to be able to dig for that gold you steal!

  • (talking to a bear, being authorative to take him away from Goldie) Move along, buddy! This gal's with me! Grrrrr!

  • (thinking to himself, he has doubts about what he's doing to Goldie) Am I making a mistake? Making Goldie even meaner and tougher than ever...? I must help her not to become... Like me!

Scrooge's love interest. She's a gold lover, as her name suggests, and she'd do anything to have it, even cheating. She's fierce and used to a good lifestyle, which leads her to be quite disgusted by the life of the god digger. She wants to trick Scrooge and steal his gold but she's also fasciated more and more by his courage and by his strength. She's strong and malicious, ready to do whetever she can to get what she wants (which makes Scrooge uncertain about her being sincere). She's not scared to say what she thinks and also to act as violent as she wants, and this lead to tension with Scrooge, both being so full of pride and because of that unable to confess their feelings to themselves and to the other. At the end of the story it's actually clear she cares for Scrooge and that she has feelings for him, therefore becoming sweeter.

I'd like her to have a mid-ranged voice, maybe a bit deep but still feminine. She should be ready to shout but also to act emotional moments.

  • (Happy with herself and her evil plan) G'night, Glittering Goldie of Dawson! Soon you'll be glittering in London and Paris! Just as soon as you rob that stupid miner of everything he's worked for... (She realizes what she's doing) Since he left his home... When he was... Only thirteen...

  • (angry and complaining) All you think about is gold! Just like all you greedy miners! Go stick your head in that bucket and inhale!

  • (angry with Scrooge and heartbroken by him telling her to leave) Well, here's what I think of your cornball work ethic! (throwing the money he gave her at him) Besides I dug more gold than you did, you tightwad!

Scrooge's arch-nemesis. He's looking for revenge for what he's done to him throughout his carreer during the gold rush.

I'd like him to have a deep voice, naturally "evil"

  • Running a Saloon is a tough job in Dawson! Just one scottish troublemaker cost me my saloon and sank a riverboat under me.

  • (to himself) Scrooge wont' stand a chance against the three most deadly lawmen in the wild west! This is where I get my revenge!

An historically existent figure. Alongside Wyatt Earp he's looking for Goldie to get her in his saloon.

I'd like him to have a medium-ranged to deep voice, but maybe a bit uncertain and embarassed.

  • (talking about their future saloon) It'll be the O-K Corral of the Great White North!

  • I think our friend will grant you a stay of execution if you tell us where we can hire guides and sleds!

I'd like him to have a medium-ranged to deep voice. I don't really have preferences about his voice.

  • Big names are important in the saloon business! That's why we wanted the famous Glittering Goldie!

  • (sighs) Looks like we'll hafta do this the hard way! Let's go, men!

An historically existent figure. Alongside Bat Masterson and Wyatt Earp he's looking for Goldie to get her in his saloon. He has a passion for hanging (Or trying to hang) people and usually speaks through judge's expressions.

I want him to have a deep, old man voice. He's authorative even though what he says is usually ridicoulous. I wouldn't mind him having an accent.

  • Want me to hang him, Bat? Just say the word!

  • Based on careful deliberation (and many years of experience with life) it is the verdict of this court that what's going on in that cabin is not a hangin' offense in Langtry, Texas, or anywhere else! Thank gosh!

Appaering at the beginning and at the end with their uncle. I'm putting them together as one role since they're practically the same person in the comics. Not sure if they're gonna be played by the same person, though. They are child, so high pitched or pretty childish voices are required.

NOTE: Even if the role of "Huey, Dewey and Louie" has been cast, if you're interested in voicing one of the triplets you still can! The one reading from the yellow cartoons. I have no preference on this one but I'd like someone that has a certain farytale telling way of speaking.

  • An innocent question has released the irresistible flow of a stream of consciousness!

  • Several weeks pass... And now we see a scene unknown to Scrooge at the time, but which his memory now fits into place.

  • Say some classic narrator phrases (like "Meanwhile" or "Some hours later")
