Further Information:
Inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, J-O-E is a short, standalone sci-fi/comedy audio drama, directed by Meesha. It will be one of the first audio dramas we release on our new channel, Slightly Audio, a branch of our main channel, Slightly Insulting. It's intended to be a short, fun and easy-to-listen-to drama to help jump-start Slightly Audio. J-O-E is an adaptation of an original short story that will be published in November 2026 by Meesha. This short drama will be roughly 23-25 minutes long.
The current deadline is the 25th of October 2026. This may be extended until the end of October.

Our alien narrator, J-O-E, is a writer and traveller with an enthusiastic and know-it-all personality. He's always smiling, even when he really shouldn't.
Accent: Any accent.
Voice/Tone: He always sounds optimistic, enthusiastic and talks to the listener as though he definitely knows what he's talking about.
For narration, his voice should sound clear and have good comedic timing, while his dialogue should sound like he's still learning how to speak like a human. This role has the biggest workload as he narrates the entire story, and he has dialogue as well.

Narration - "I know a lot about weddings. I've been to a lot of great weddings! One of my cousins was married on a farm. Beautiful, it was! She was adorned in hundreds of tiny bells and she and her new husband slaughtered all the cows on the property with perfect precision. It's a sign of good luck on my homeworld to slaughter cows on special occasions. Any reader will know that cows are universal parasites."
Dialogue - "Greee...eee...et...ing...zee!"
Dialogue - "I've eaten the delicious ring. Thank you, kindly."
Our Groom, Timothy Fishbach, or Timo, is an Australian man and probably the most normal out of everyone. He's excited about his wedding and wants to make sure there's peace between his bride and his brother. He'll do anything to make sure nothing goes wrong on this special day.
Accent: Any Australian accent.
Voice/Tone: Any range.
He has a total of 15 lines.

"I don't know if I can do it, marry her. I saw this video online and this guy said marriage is, like, signing your soul to someone else. You can't be your own anymore. I can't go out with the boys anymore. I can't do this, can't do that."
(angry/yelling) "Guy! Give me the ring!"
Believe it or not, this guy's name is also Joe. He's also, somehow, the celebrant for this wedding. This man is always happy, with the world's greatest mullet.
Accent: Any Australian accent
Voice/Tone: Any tone.
He has a total of 14 lines.

"Thank you, Your Royal Highness. Bloody hell, I didn't think they'd change you this much."
"They've chosen to exchange rings as an outward symbol of their commitment to each other. The band... blah blah blah."
Jenny Shepard is Bridezilla.
She wants everything to go perfectly, and when things go awry, she gets a bit crazy. She can be very overdramatic.
Accent: An Australian accent is preferred, but not required.
Voice/Tone: Please keep in mind that this role does have a bit of yelling/screaming.
She has a total of 10 lines.

A very drunk Australian man named Guy. He's also an absolute idiot.

Voice/Tone: While he's drunk throughout the entire story, his voice should still be clear so we can understand what he's saying.
