Kind World - fantasy/noir retro animated series

Project Overview

Kind World is going to be a five-episode fantasy noir series about monster hunters in the style of 60's black and white animated action/dramas made cheap for TV. The episodes will be roughly 20 minutes each.

The show follows an alt-history where colonial humans had their population decimated by a monstrous threat. As society rebuilds around surviving stone churches, groups of hunters are established to defend the remaining towns. Young hunters clash, townsfolk demand protection, and people are worn down, all beneath the persistent tolling of church bells.


Since the story involves displaced society, a range of natural accents are encouraged and welcome. 


Unlike our other casting calls, we're currently casting for the pilot only. Then, once we've finished an episode and have a better idea of our production schedule, we will revisit the actors for the remaining season's script. Casted actors will be invited to a Discord server for future episode work, but alternate arrangements can be made if you don't use Discord.


What we're looking for:

- All accents welcome.

- Pay is one flat rate based on number of lines. (Max of 36 lines)

- Must be willing to meet via video or voice chat (zoom, discord, skype) for live direction before January 15th. We're super chill, it'll be no stress <3

- quality audio, no equipment preference as long as you know how to make it sound crisp!

- grounded characters with natural voices.

- those who join our discord will be invited to play additional bit characters or background murmurs. These will be few and goofier moments, and only if you're comfortable with it~

Jeer, 27, is arrogant, but it comes from a place of intellect and skill. Being one of the faster-learning Hunters, he has little patience for people or rules that slow him down. He can be caring and cooperative when the situation demands it, but he seldom finds the situation that demanding.

Gregore, 30, is studious and mature, but a natural follower. His talent is in executing orders, delegating work, and defending his superiors' decisions. While he can be internally annoyed or stretched thin, he does a good job of sighing away his real concerns and focusing on work instead.

Aldore, 50, is the leader of a division of trained creature hunters. His fatherly nature and astute wisdom shine through every word as an indispensable foundation of the program. He's gruff and thoughtful, speaking with authority and compassion while keeping his hardened people in line.

Tomes, 30, is a senior hunter with a gloating air to match. Though she has earned her place, she feels a constant need to prove it by putting others down. With this comes a natural instinct for survival. She goes from chiding one minute to no-nonsense the next.

Felix, 24, is a perky member of the clergy. Though he shares a space with hunters, he's unaccustomed to their violent and glum ways. His fixation with his brothers in arms comes from a wholesome and energetic place that is often not welcomed, though he remains persistently optimistic regardless.

Otis, 13, is the sole survivor of a monster attack. Having nothing to return to, he's on a mission to demand justice from the hunters. This will require more independence than he's needed before, but a rough and lonely childhood have shaped him to step up to the task. While still a child, and at moments childish, he's able to buckle down admirably.

Mother Emery, 70s, is the matron of the church and head authority of all branches therein, including the hunters. She's patient and sensitive, but has also been around long enough to know when to bear down and be direct. Her age never leads people to underestimate her because she's proven herself a constant show of force in every aspect of leadership and understanding.
