Project Overview
Introduction:
Hello! this is a casting club for our first project in the series of many to come.
It is meant as an introductory to many games that will be taking place in the same universe. So characters in this project will be reappearing in future installments.
About "KaRu" :
KaRu is a short, horror visual novel game where you play as son of chief/ a horned parasite named Karu. He wakes up next to a young boy he never met in a place they shouldn't be. Now they have to trust each other and find a way out. The game is about 15-30 minutes long and will be published on itch.io.

Age: 23 / 35 at the end of the game.
Personality: Peaceful, kind, caring, stubborn, idealistic, proud, protective, remorseful.
Voice: [Younger Karu] He's a young adult, his voice is much more full of emotion and life, appealing and orotund, with a hint of pride. [Older Karu] his voice is still appealing but has become a bit monotone and tired like a tired dad.
Backstory: Karu is the son of the chief of the horned tribe. As a high-class parasite, he pursued medicine in order to become a Witch (local doctor). He strongly believes in equality between all races, unlike his father. He wants to promote such ideas for a better future for his tribe and parasites in general. His father raised him with a strong sense of morale and idealism, sheltering him from the harsh reality of his race that is currently taking place, in hopes he might do the right thing without bending the knee to circumstances. He lost his brother as a child and he blames himself for it. Since then he swore to never ignore his responsibilities ever again, and it’s been haunting him since then.
[Younger Karu having a fight with Deha]
(Angrily shouting) You've been producing too many emotions, you're giving away our location!
[Younger Karu trying to Calm Deha who's having a meltdown]
(Quietly) Don't say that, kid. we'll get out of here.
[Older Karu speaking to a class of students after a huge argument among the students]
(Speaks in a non-threatening disappointed tone) I’m not here to scold them, or call them out as you kids say. Their name shall not be revealed.
Age: 14
Personality: Sharp, resourceful, self-aware, smart, shy, anxious, needy, distrustful, self-loathing, racist.
Voice: His voice is not thick nor thin, though it's on the prepubescent side and has a soft quality to it. with a little bit of brittle. (due to him being anxious the whole game and lacking confidence) Once talks about crime investigations, he becomes confident and loses the brittle in his voice
Backstory: Deha is an only child who lives with his abusive mother. His father left when he was born and his mother has been taking care of him since then (she wasn’t doing a good job). He overheard his mother talking to his friends saying her life was perfect until he was born, it crushed him completely causing him lots of instability. He is bullied at school for his inability to fight back. In order to escape from his miserable reality, he reads about criminal investigations and interviews, it’s the only thing that keeps him going, hungry to know everything about crimes and more.
[Deha is confused due Karu is so persistent on both getting out rather than saving only himself]
...why? (pause a bit) Why do you care if I live or not?
[Deha is explaining their loop situation to Karu]
(Serious) In one of the crimes interviews I saw, a parasite said he created a loop to keep his victim trapped in the same place.
(Screaming in anger, on the verge of crying) I'm not fucking useless so you can keep calling me a kid!
Age: ???
Personality: cunning, calm, sly, egocentric, phony.
Voice: His voice is thick and flat. he tries to sound nice by giving it a honeyed tone but it's clear it's fake. Once he is angry, his pretencious niceness in his voice is gone.
Backstory: Eska is a Mak parasite who betrayed his tribe and family to become a man of power. He brought the hearts of his family members as a gift to the leader of Achuls as a sign of utmost loyalty. And so he was given Arekk as a servant and was announced as one of the Achul, and was given the class of livestock owners.
[Eska is having a moment of pride, crushing Karu's ideals]
(No matter how the main tribes pretend to hate and ridicule the Achuls, they need us.
[His reply to Karu saying his gons might've got the wrong kid]
*Laughing* You have a good sense of humor, Karu.
[He says this after Karu got captured and Deha escaped]
(Anger is slowly surfacing in his tone) After I have brought you here, treated you like one of us. Then you stab me in the back just like that?
Age: ???
Personality: Feral, sadistic, obedient, loyal, cruel.
Voice: His voice is gruff and throaty even his laughs are really deep. It's overall taunting and it comes off as more monstrous than human.
Backstory: ??? (He is a loyal, mindless servant to Eska. Enjoys inflicting pain on others as enjoys when prisoners cut through his skin in fear, calls them marks)
[He says this line while Karu scratches his arm trying to free himself from his grip]
(Enjoying himself) Ahhh… another mark to keep.
[He's chocking Karu while saying this]
(Amused) *Chuckling* you should've come the easy way.
[He says taunting Deha after he tasted his emotions]
(Excited) No one is going to have enough of you boy, you’ll be the main stock for a long time!
Age: 30
Personality: kind, understanding, devout, altruistic, doubtful of himself, opinionated
Voice: He got compliments for having an "angels voice", not thin or thick, but silvery.
Backstory: (not important and it’s too long tbh) He is the history teacher of class 2B.
Does anyone have one last question for Mr. Karu?
(Serious) Class, settle down now.
Age: 13
Personality: Good nature, streets-smart, hot-headed, stubborn, irritable, aggressive, cares about people close to him, self-sacrificial, bold, blunt.
Voice: Anything is fine as long as he sounds relatively aggressive and irritated, and please avoid giving him the stereotypical bully voice.
Backstory: L’no is the most feared delinquent in school. though his hostile behavior is a mask to hide the fact he's sensitive and is easily hurt by others.
You cut your ties with your old man after that?
Tsk. Feral bastards.
Age: 13
Personality: Intelligent, logical, perfectionist, snobby, prideful, cold, blunt.
Voice: His voice is calm, cynical, almost monotone with little emotion besides pride and snobbiness showing through it.
Backstory: Came from one of the ruling families of Gommens (aliens) and he isn’t ashamed of showing it off to everyone. He holds himself to really high standards, and has the highest grades in school, making him the prodigy student.
What? Do I need to dumb this one down for you to understand?

Age: 13
Personality: Bubbly, Cheerful, Positive, outspoken, hesitant, overthinking, breaks under severe stress.
Voice: Her voice is high pitched, it can become unpleasant to hear when she is excited.
Backstory: Rose is a girl that came from a loving family, her mother is a politician and her father is a fitness trainer. So she took the best of both, her ability to be persuasive and the healthy lifestyle. Except she can haves small outbursts if her conversations start going in circles.
[She says then when the teacher asks if anyone had any questions left.]
I do.
[She says this when Muhruquan and L'no are about to start up a fight]
(Angry) Oh my god, you two are NOT going to fight right now!
