Dressmaker Dub | VAs Wanted
Project Overview
Are you interested in a dub of Dressmaker? Well, you're in the right place! I'm interested in bringing these characters to life (both in-game and with fan-made content if we ever get to a point where we need more to dub over!). Auditions are open for the 10 clients who are in the game, and we're looking for VAs!
This is an unpaid project, so it's all for fun. And while it'll just be dubs for this, if you or someone you know does modding and would be interested in helping create a mod with the outcome of this project, please send me a message, and we can discuss things.
Audition to your heart's content! There are no restrictions on characterization and accents, just make sure what you're submitting is fitting for the character! If you have any questions, please reach out at any time!

Does that make me your first client? What an honour for me. My name is Rose, and I’m the town’s librarian. It’s very nice to meet you.
Oh, thank goodness! This is suitable for the library, and looks wonderfully made. I won’t have to go to work in the old hole-y dress! Although, I suppose the old one was more of an unholy dress. If you think about it. Because the moths had eaten holes… Nevermind.
I understand that now. It was difficult to accept, but hopeful at the same time. Before, I desperately wanted to become someone else, but now…now I think I would like to become more myself.

Indeed? Well, the future Duchess of Twillford should not require introduction, but I will show leniency today. My name is Prudence Mortimer. You may call me Duchess Prudence Mortimer.
Yes, the chaise lounge. Should I wish to swoon, I will require a suitably soft surface to land upon. Hence, the chaise lounge. Did I not make this abundantly clear during my last visit?
I don’t rightly know. A certain sympathy, I suppose. Perhaps it was admiration, for the way that she perceives so much beauty in the world. I wished…I wished to understand her better. Although art remains a frivolous pursuit, I believe she is a very passionate person. Most singular and determined.

Hassan suffers from being far too nice, I’m afraid. He’s a sensitive sort...which is to say, a gazelle in the lion’s den. That’s why I am here. You see, my plan is to strike fear into the hearts of these shameless fortune chasers. I must look intimidating enough to drive them off. Admittedly, this…isn’t my usual style. But I could be frightening!
It’s so impressive. Personally, I’ve never had a knack for textile arts — I think it’s the needles. They’re so...sharp and small. Not to mention all the mathematics involved, my goodness. Pleats? French seams? Button plackets? Corseting? For me, it’s simply a disaster waiting to happen.
…a few. ………rather a few. At the Fete, I spent half my evening attempting to get away from Sir Ortham Buke. Goodness, but the man’s a bore. He suffers from the irrepressible urge to prove himself the smartest person in any room at all times. Anything I say must be corrected, no matter how trivial the statement.

Good afternoon. My name is Marie Laroche, and I am here to enquire about a dress for a funeral.
No, no, only the assistant to one. At least, for now. But I do help with Mr Dervisham’s work! …and arrange his social calendar…organise his laundry…make him tea… You know, just building my way up.
The farmers wrote letters of commendation for me, and sent them to the regent. To the office of the crown itself! As a result, I have been offered a new position as an official diplomatic envoy of Twillford. It is unheard of! A woman representing Twillford abroad! My mother is beside herself.

Oh, I don’t know about ‘famous.’ I sang a song or two when I was younger, but my days on the stage are long past. Now I’m just Edie.
It was lovely to reminisce about the past. The stages, the costumes, the crowd. I got a bit misty-eyed remembering it all. Of course, that was when I had Robert by my side. My husband was a real charmer, you know. He used to bring me flowers after every show. Our house was full of them. As soon as you’d open the door, you’d smell the peonies. I think I miss that most of all.
No, no, she’s a delight! Either she’s wiser than her years, or I’m far more foolish than mine — but the two of us get along like a house on fire. And then there’s Dorothy, of course! Dotty's a bit of a fruitcake, truth be told…but a charming fruitcake nonetheless.

All right, fine. I’ll abbreviate. Hello. My name is Fiona Trussard. I recently moved to Twillford. I am a farmer. There. Now, about this dress…
The Twillford Market Fair is this weekend. I have a stall at the event. This is a valuable opportunity to showcase the unmatched quality of my fresh produce to local shareholders. I intend to impress! I am also enlisting Edith and Dorothy to the cause. They will be managing marketing and distribution respectively. No competitor shall stand against us!
A horse? No! Perish the thought. Alphonse is not some prancing show pony. Alphonse is my dearest and most lovely ox. Truly, he is a perfect creature. He has the prettiest eyes, and the sleekest red coat, and the temperament of an angel. A horse. Really. How insulting.
Auditions are open for Alice in a dub of Dressmaker.
Alice is one of the most complex characters, as you need to also have interpretations of Kroq and Selafie speaking through her.

Both of you, shush! Ahem. I recently received some sage advice from one of the ladies of the town, and I believe it might aid in enhancing my strength. She suggested, with singular passion, that I should ‘exercise my demons.’ Apparently, this would make me more inclined to ‘behave like a normal woman.’ The Twillford Women’s Sporting Day Contest fast approaches. What a fortuitous opportunity to make good on the lady’s suggestion!
[Kroq] WEEP, WORM, FOR THE END OF DAYS IS NIGH. ALL SHALL SUCCUMB TO THE ENDLESS NIGHT. ……… My apologies.
[Selafie] Be silent, vile fiend! You shall not disturb the peace of my charge with your dire pronouncements. Blessed vessel, sweet maiden, I will guard you against this foul influence.

Mm? Well, she has likely never before encountered any of my…sort. I am the Lady Vivian Duskbourne. And you are…?
What a baseless accusation. What if something unfortunate was to happen to you, and your familiar needed a new home? I am merely…considering possibilities.
Oh, is it fear that causes your breath to quicken, and your heart to flutter? How…adorable. Let me divert you, my little lamb. Were you witness to the recent sports contest? I hear it was surprisingly well attended.

What a marvellous shop! The whole town is talking about it, you know. You’ve caused quite a stir. But let me not be rude. My name is Dorothy Parker, and this is Judith, Montgomery, and Egbert.
In any case, a pigeon would doubtless be of great help to you. If Berty adopts you, he would be prepared to deliver your correspondence. If, for example, he sensed that a customer might have additional need of your services, he could alert you to their interest.
Because it’s interesting! Dorothy The public knows nothing about Princess Sophie. As is royal tradition, she wears a mask to all public appearances. We don’t even know what she looks like! Her coronation is mere months away — but who knows what will happen to her now? A mysterious young ruler, whisked away in the dead of night…nefarious forces…a ticking clock… Heehee! You’ll tell me if you hear anything, won’t you, dearie?

Me? Oh, right, of course. My name is… Ah…door… uh…thimble…? …thread. That’s right! Adora Thimblethread.
…you have a terrible sense of humour. Nevertheless, I would like us to be friends. I want to get to know everyone in Twillford better! Although…recently… Ever since the Women’s Sporting Day Contest, I’ve felt…observed. It feels as though someone is watching me from the shadows. Or …something.
No, I don’t think so, although you are kind to offer. I must figure out my own way forward — whether that’s on the path laid by circumstance, or the one I make for myself. Fiona is organising a stargazing evening at her orchard this week. I intend to attend, and I’ll make my choice then. I’m sorry for all the secrecy. I’m sure I sound ridiculous to you.
