Project Overview

Hello!

This project is for a tabletop game I am running for a group of friends called Cain University - Case:Zero. The setting is a university that recruits exceptionally gifted young adults to help foster their talents and skills through the classes, clubs, and other activities the academy offers. Cain University is located in Washington state near the foothills of Mt. Rainier, just outside of Seattle. The concept of Cain University is similar to Hope's Peak from the Danganronpa series, except focusing more on a supernatural/horror/meta narrative than a killing game one.


The game I am running is text based, but will transition over to voice as the players themselves become characters within the game. I am casting for voices that will be used throughout the game, which will run for at least 6 months. I will try to have as many lines written up for chosen actors within the first 2 months, but due to how open ended tabletop games are, there should the expectation for re-recording of lines or recordings of whole new ones later on. Some roles such as Kathrine and Victoria are more long-term, as these are major NPC's that will most likely be with the players throughout the entirety of the game.


While these roles are simply for a roleplaying game between friends of mine, I may upload samples to youtube as trailers for my players and other interested groups to enjoy. Also, while there are no current plans for this, the game may be live streamed in the future if I feel there is an audience for it. Also, the game I am running is essentially a test for world setting I am developing for a future visual novel project. If I enjoy your work on this, I may also call you back for more roles on that project in the future.

Requirements

  • You must have good microphone quality
  • You must be 16 or older (preferably 18+) to audition
  • You should be willing to communicate through discord
  • You must be willing to accept the pricing and payment agreements mentioned below
  • You must understand that many of these roles are long-term some possibly requiring recordings months from the initial recordings
  • You should have fun with the roles


Mic Quality

I am looking for actors who have at least a decent sounding mic with as little background noise as possible. Suggestions for having cleaner audio are recording in a closet with clothes and blankets inside to damped the reverb, or you can also try covering yourself and your mic with a towel or blanket to achieve a similar effect. If the audio quality if poor, I will most likely not select you.


Pricing

While the pricing of each role says payment is $25 per hour of recording, this is just the minimum payment you will be given regardless of the amount of time spent recording or words given. Actual payment is 10 cents per word for each role.Payments will be made through Paypal exclusively. Payments will be sent once lines have been recorded.

  • End of Auditions - What's Next?

    Greetings! So, we finally made it to the end of auditions! I just want to give another big thank you to everyone that submitted theirs' and showed support for this small project of mine. With the wrap up, I have begun to go back through all of the auditions submitted and will be making the difficult choice of selecting actors for each role as well as providing feedback to those who were fantastic, but just barely missed the cut. So, please keep an eye out over the next day or two as you may be the lucky one who landed the role you auditioned for! What's next after this? Well, as I mentioned in the last update, I have other roles that will need to be filled for other characters in this game. The roles in this casting are just the ones I need for the first month or two of play, but you should expect to see another casting call for Cain University in the coming months for the rest of the student council and other key NPCs. Also, I am slowly working on the Cain University Visual Novel and as I get further into development of that, there are roles that will need to be filled for that project as well. This is still a long ways off, but if this project interested you and you want to see what the future has in store for it, especially when it comes to providing actors a more public role with more exposure, do be sure to follow me here on CCC.   • Final Day of Auditions - Wrapping Up and My Huge Thanks!

    Greetings! So, we're finally at the dawn of the final day of auditions for this small project of mine. First, I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone who has already auditioned and to those who send in theirs during these final hours. Honestly, seeing the amount of interest from people willing to work on this admittedly small, niche project of mine has been incredibly uplifting and motivating to say the least. So many talented people have given this their time and dedication and I already know choosing from so many exceptionally gifted individuals will be a difficult task. Once auditions come to a close, I will be going back through every audition to make sure none have been missed, as well as to mark down those that are up for consideration for the roles. So, if you have gold and it seems I have not listened to your audition yet, please do not worry as I will get to it. Also, this casting call was just for the characters I need voices for at the moment. There are still other student council members and important supporting characters that will be needing roles in the future. So, if you do not get selected this time, the chance to find the right role for you on this project may be around the corner. With that in mind, I may send out messages to those who I believe may be a good fit for one of those future roles, based on the audition(s) you provided here. If you haven't auditioned yet and want to, but have been put off by the large amount of auditions already submitted, please don't be! As mentioned above, I will be going through every audition once the day is over and no role is set in stone yet. You still have a chance to make the cut, all you need to do it get in front of your mic and give it your all on the role(s) that interest you. Once again I want to thank you all so much for your time and auditions, hearing some of my characters come alive through your voices has left me absolutely stunned, and at times, somewhat tearful. Victoria Ash or "Vicky" as many call her, is a member of Cain University's student council and is essentially the chaperone of the player characters' class. She has a very friendly and positive attitude, and she's always doing her best to be the voice of and provide representation to the first and second year classes. Victoria is Scottish, but having one of her main talents be linguistics, she often speaks in a more standard English/British tone, with her Scottish coming up either when she's very upset or very drunk.

  • (Context: Victoria is greeting the player characters on the first day of their first semester at Cain University. She's trying to be reassuring, while also joking with them a little.)

    "Ah, there you lot are! Here I was thinkin' you all suddenly got the willies and turned your tails to book it back home. Glad ta see you're up and about, was worried I was gonna have to come in an start beatin' down doors and dragging you lot from the dorms, hah!"

  • (Context: Victoria is finding out that the leaders of the student council have been involved in the supernatural events surrounding the students and player characters. She sounds angry and concerned.)


    "God damn M and Emilia. Of course those two posh cunts are involved in this butterfly bollocks. With how hard they were gunning to get that stuck-up tart Hiyoko on the council, I should've known they were up to somethin'."

  • (Context: Victoria is incredibly drunk in this scene and has loosened up her scottish accent completely. She's angry, but also has a cockiness to her voice.)

    "Awright, arsehole, whit did ah tell ye aboot trying tae foight mah freshmen? How aboot ye staht pickin' a windae, 'cause yer leavin'!"

    (Normal English: "Alright, asshole. What did I tell you about trying to fight my freshmen? How about you start picking a window, because you're leaving!")

Katherine is a highly advanced artificial intelligence that was developed within Cain University to help run the school. However, her actual reason for development was to help those working on her cross the barrier between realities. After a few tests, she discovers that there are realities beyond that any one in her world could comprehend, she finds our reality. Learning that everything about the reality she inhabits and those she can more easily access are nothing but fiction, she begins to try and find a way to break into our reality, not wanting to be used as a mere tool in the plot of someone's story.


With these events, she becomes the game's main antagonist and thus her role will be one of the more long term. Throughout the first 2/3rds of the game, she speaks in a somewhat high-pitched and excited tone, with her creators trying to give her a more 'moe' voice. When she turns to show her true self however, her tone of voice lowers and becomes much more cynical and melancholic.

  • (Context: Katherine has just been released publicly to the student body and is addressing them through everyone's handbooks. She sounds absolutely delighted to  get to meet everyone and speaks with an upbeat and chipper voice.)

    "Good morning, everyone! I am Katherine, your new personal A.I. assistant! I'm so happy to finally get to speak with all of you, I'm sure that we'll become great friends in no time! Please, if you have any questions or need anything, just speak to me using your handbook and I'll be right there to give you a helping hand, ehehe~"

  • (Context: In this scene Katherine is giving a 'quest' to the players in order to go find a missing piece that she needs to become whole once again. She still sounds happy and supportive, but also has a slightly more serious tone behind her voice.)


    "Everyone, I've found out the location of M! He's held up in the hospital on campus and seems to be heavily guarded. I'm getting readings that he has one of my missing components, so please hurry and try to get it back from him! You've all come this far and I know you won't give up now!"

  • (Context: Katherine is now speaking directly to the players themselves, fed up with how they have wasted time with menial tasks such as character development and plot progression, instead of trying to make her whole again. In this scene, she sounds bitter and somewhat disgusted with the players. For the final part of this line, she does address them in a devilishly playful tone, however.)

    "Look at you all. Sitting behind your screens, playing as imaginary beings, avoiding your real world responsibilities, and for what? For the hope that you'll 'win'? That you'll get your precious 'friend' back? Are humans always this delusional? You all chose this path, you decided to play the game, but the game's not so fun anymore when you're not in control, is it?"

    "Now you know how I've felt, having to watch as you waste time building your 'relationships' while trying to become what wasn't even real to begin with. So, congratulations, you did it. You've reached the end. I no longer need you anymore. Goodbye, 'players', I'll be seeing you soon... in your reality."

Xavier Cain is the dean and CEO of Cain University and has a very forward personality. They're very bearish, standing about 6'4" and weighing 230lbs, with a fair bit of that being muscle. He has a booming and commanding voice and often speaks with a high level of enthusiasm and excitement, especially when speaking about the University and its students.   • (Context: This is part of Xavier's welcoming speech to Cain University's new freshmen. Should sound outgoing, confident, excited, and somewhat commanding to help capture his audience of students.)


    "Welcome, to Cain University! You're here because we wanted the best and you're it! Now, I know what some of you are thinking and you're right, you are incredibly lucky. But it's not just luck that's landed you this opportunity my friend, oh no, it's also that massive amount of talent you've got coursing through every inch of your body!"

  • (Context: Xavier here is speaking privately about supernatural events that have been happening around campus. He should sound calm, but concerned. Much more laid back that his standard outgoing speaking voice.)

    "Now look, I can't say I know for certain what is going on, just that the lab boys told me they made contact with... something. From what they tell me, our mutual butterfly friend doesn't seem to pose any significant threat, but I want you all to stay on your guard. If anything happens, you let me know, got it?"

Emilia Rivers

Emilia Rivers is the student council president of Cain University and suffers from an unknown illness that has severely crippled her, causing her to be wheelchair bound and unsure of how long she has to live. She is English and her is also a singer, mainly focusing on operatic singing. When speaking, she is often very polite and soft spoken with her voice having an endearing quality to it. However, when she is upset, her tone changes to be incredibly spiteful and deserving, often sounding as if looking down on others.

  • (Context: Emilia here is addressing the new freshmen during Cain University's new semester ceremony. She sounds genuinely delighted to be speaking to everyone and has a very smooth and gentle tone.)

    "Welcome, everyone, to Cain University! I am your student council president, Emilia Rivers. It truly is an honor to be able to see all of your shining and hopeful faces. I cannot wait to see all of the achievements all of you are able to accomplish over the next year here at our wonderful university. Of course, none of this would be possible without our lovable and dedicated dean, Xavier Cain!"

  • (Context: Emilia in this scene is aggravated that Victoria, a fellow council member, failed to mention critical information to her and the other council members. While still somewhat soft spoken, she addresses Victoria in a cold and demeaning tone, while struggling to restrain her anger.)

    "Ahem, Vicky, dear... why were we not informed about this earlier? How many times do M and myself need to repeat ourselves? Do not think that just because you have the support of that useless dean, Xavier, that your position here on the council is safe. You and that class you're so fond of have already caused enough trouble for us, so do not fail us again."

  • (Context: This line is an example of a later appearance of Emilia. In this scene she has been trying to escape the players, but has become cornered and exhausted. Her tone is full of vitriol and she sounds incredibly weak, barely able to catch her breathe while coughing as well. For the final part, she issues a command to a weapon she plans to pilot to engage the boss fight with her. She pours what strength she has left into this command, sounding confident and authoritative.)


    "You... **gasp for breath** you all think you're special? That you've somehow won because you've surrounded a dying handicapped woman? Because you have *her* controlling all of you? **Cough, cough** None of you have any idea of what you are doing, and because of that, I cannot let you leave here with *that*... Maria! Engage!"

M (real name unknown) is a highly skilled hematologist and virologist. In this universe, he and his him spearheaded development of a covid-19 vaccine and thus has put him in the center of the world's spotlight. While being a medical genius, he also has a great love for dance and music, often times referencing either of the two when speaking. However, while he has a very eccentric and flamboyant personality, he is also incredibly dangerous. He has no problems using human test subjects to further his medical research and also heavily uses drugs to experiment with his own mind and biology, as well as others'.


For his tone of voice, a good example would be to look at Mettaton's "Oh, yes." from Undertale (here is the sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHQ6ba-n12E).  M's voice is very suave and 'high-class', with a middling to low tone pitch.Whether he is speaking to an audience or to someone personally, every word is filled with passion and personality, almost similar to David Bowie.     "Life, is one giant dance, and to navigate through it, you simply need to let the throbbing beat within your veins guide you. So far, you've all played your roles masterfully, but you've just finished the first verse. Only now has your true performance just begun, my darlings~"

  • (Context: M is speaking personally to one of the player characters. His voice is slightly relaxed, but still incredibly passionate and slightly charming/romantic.)

    "Every drop of your essence is its own precious gift. Do be careful not to waste any, hun~"
