Then it’s time to grade yourself based on things you’ve already discovered in VA101 or on your own.
Next week after class is done, download the video, play it back and determine what vocal qualities and emotions you hear. Try and put yourself in the listener’s point of view and be honest. IS IT?

- Too Fast? Detached and Cold?
- Too Slow or drawn out? Intelligent and Trusting?
- Too piercing or pitchy? Tense?
- Too harsh? Youthful?
- Emotionless? Energetic?
- Monotone? Sympathetic?
- Boring? Impatient?
- Nasal? Angry?
- Just right? Sexy/flirty?
- Too quiet? Too Projected?
- Too fake? Too Breathy?
Give yourself a critique and see what there is to keep working on

We've also introduced the Elevator exercise to you - This is ONE elevator exercise that works on sustination. We will also introduce a different elevator exercise later on as well
ELEVATOR Start with a soft build on a sound and gradually increase your intensity and volume. You should not do this exercise more than twice in a sitting as it does put strain on the throat but it is a good way for those of you who are more reserved, to see how much voice is in actually in them
