Uncovering Dunridge
Project Overview
Uncovering Dunridge is a 6-part mystery/horror audio drama that follows the story of Elliot Campbell as he investigates strange disappearances in his secluded mountain town of Dunridge, New Hampshire. The podcast is presented as Elliots podcast and each episode features interviews with various citizens of the town. Over the course of the 6 episodes, what starts as a mystery-of-the-week show will culminate into the discovery of dark secrets that date back to the earliest days of Dunridge.
The role of Elliot has already been filled and each of the open roles will appear for 1-2 episodes in which they will share a conversation with Elliot.

Sapphire is a member of the Corgi Crash Dummies, a local roller derby team. She becomes interested in Elliots investigation and offers to help. During the second half of the show she becomes his partner in the investigation and appears on the podcast twice to share information she’s discovered. She is the most prominent character outside of Elliot and it is a character who should have a lot of personality in her voice acting.

Magic? No. But I wouldn’t rule out the paranormal altogether. I mean, you said it yourself that this place seems to be unique, right? Isn’t that like your whole thing? You think Dunridge is seriously fucked up and you’re trying to figure out why?
Apparently, they had put together a little search party to try to recover his body, and the sheriff got all weirded out with them. He insisted he had done a full sweep of the area and that a wild animal must have gotten to the body in the night or something, but I think that’s bullshit.
Oh right, I forgot you—the one who started a whole podcast to investigate mysterious disappearances—are also somehow the worlds biggest skeptic. Maybe it sounds ridiculous, but just think about it. He said that when this thing claims its home, it never leaves.
Ray is a tattoo artist in Dunridge who is interviewed in the first episode regarding the disappearance of his brother, Trevor. After the disappearance of his brother, he experienced a long gap in his memory which he only recalled as he got older. He is a bit confused as to what the podcast is all about but happy to share his story if it can help.

Life wasn’t easy for me after Trevor disappeared. I was paralyzed by the whole experience. For days, I could barely get out of bed. What I saw that day went against so many things that I had known to be true. My young brain just... couldn’t handle it, I guess.
My legs felt like they were on fire, but I just kept running. It’s like I wasn’t controlling my own body; I was just along for the ride. And no matter how hard I pushed or how fast I ran, I couldn’t get close to him. It felt like an eternity. And he just kept walking, head down, in a trance, until he reached the tree line.
I remember calling my mom that night when I was at home. I thought that I must have sounded ridiculous and completely expected her to tell me I was out of my mind, but when I explained what happened she just seemed... worried? She pretty much explained everything to me after that.
Sheriff Al West is the subject of an interview early in the podcast, during which he tries to convince Elliot to stop the investigation altogether. He insists that Elliot is only going to uncover trouble and hurt people if he continues with the podcast, even sharing a traumatic story from his past to try to convince him to drop the investigation. Throughout the podcast it is implied that he has secret motives that would make him want Elliot’s public investigation of the town to stop.

Look, I think you’re reading into this too much, kid. People have died here, yes. People have died everywhere, but making a spectacle of real trauma might not be the best way to represent our town, huh?
I think I made that pretty clear: trouble. Not everything is part of some conspiracy. Sometimes people get themselves into bad situations and wind up dead, and if you stir up too much commotion about it, you’re only going to cause more harm.
Look, I know you don’t have bad intentions, but you’re not doing us any favors by turning this town into a spectacle. Luis was a real person with a real family. A boy has died. Right now, his parents are grieving the loss of their son. At least wait for the body to get cold before you go turning his story into entertainment.
Rob is a truck driver who is passing through Dunridge when Elliot starts a conversation with him at a local diner. After chatting about the podcast for a bit, Rob is obviously quite interested so Elliot records the conversation. This is one of the most casual conversations in the series and mostly involves Rob sharing his thoughts on the town and the podcast.

Then you should know this place better than anyone, and if you really feel something’s off, and you’re not afraid to investigate it, why wouldn’t you? And besides, let’s say you find absolutely nothing. So what? You’re still getting a damn good time out of it, and learning some valuable skills, too.
Well you said it yourself, this place is fucking weird. You may not notice it, having been here your whole life. But just being here makes a person feel… muted. It’s like every time I cross into this little town, something weighs on my emotions, covers them all up, and behind it all, I feel this tiny sense of dread somewhere in the back of my mind.
Isabelle is a local Realtor and the owner of Clark Real Estate. She appears at about the halfway point of the series. Elliot is at a bit of a stand still on his investigation and meets with Isabelle to discuss what it must be like trying to sell real estate in a place like Dunridge. She is supportive of Elliots investigation and has some interesting stories to share.

I’m damned good at what I do, and Dunridge isn’t the only place where I conduct business, you know. I sell property in plenty of towns around the area. I don’t even live in Dunridge. In fact, the only reason I started working here was because no one else seemed to be. I figured it was a good opportunity to corner a market, but over 8 years of selling property here, I’ve come to realize that there isn’t much of a market to corner.
Not to mention most of the properties are tied to some sort of morbid event. People look that type of thing up, you know. It’s a lot harder to sell a home to someone once they find out a woman murdered her husband inside of it.
Demand for property is so low here you can get the same types of places for an amazing value. It’s always the same, though. They’ll come in and visit, say the property looks gorgeous, but that it just doesn’t feel like the right place. Never any specifics, just that it doesn’t feel right. And honestly, I can’t say I disagree.
Mr. Gardner is a teacher at Dunridge Highschool with a deep interest in local history. After uncovering a strange site, Elliot goes to Mr. Gardner in an effort to discover what history may be behind it. Mr. Gardner is enthused to be on the show and to see a former student taking such an interest in the history of the town.

You know it’s not easy compiling information about Dunridge. There aren’t exactly books written about the place. Just lots of old stories and articles.
That’s right. A group of prisoners who escaped a jail in Massachusetts gathered up as many of their friends and families as they could and ran away under the cover of night. After being on the run for weeks, they settled in a secluded place up in the mountains to start their new community as free men and women.
I suppose there’s no way to know, really. It seems a bit extreme, and like I said, there aren’t a whole lot of resources to research this sort of stuff, but stories about it have been found in a number of journals and letters written by people who were alive at the time, so I’d imagine it’s at least partially true.
Boris is a crypto-zoologist who catches wind of the podcast and reaches out to Elliot to try to provide some helpful information about what may be happening in Dunridge. He is a regular speaker on history channel docu-series about cryptids and the paranormal and speaks with great authority on the subjects.

Accounts of this creature have been found throughout history in a number of different places across the world. Primarily South-East Asia and Eastern Europe, though there have been some stories of them in places like Brazil, and even the UK. It has gone by many different names in different places, most of which roughly translate to ‘glutton’ or ‘leech’ which, as you’ll learn, is quite an apt description.
To my knowledge, there is no one alive today that can tell you exactly what those specific symbols mean, but many of the shapes are undeniably the same that have been found in other locations where a similar cryptid is claimed to dwell.
As a crypto-zoologist, I can tell you that when we are studying cryptids, what we are really studying is human nature. Humans are a species that has a serious problem with not having all of life’s answers, and many cryptid stories are simply the product of humans attempting to explain their surroundings and abnormal situations in a pre-modern world.
Toward the beginning of the series, Elliot witnesses something that prompts him to call 911. The call is recorded and shared on the podcast.

Dunridge 911, what is the address of your emergency?
Okay, are you still in the area? Are you safe?
Can you tell if it was intentional or an accident?
