INTRO/QUICK SUMMARY
Hello! This is a casting call for a webcomic voice over. I will be assembling the audio and creating the actual video for this project, so what I am looking for are some talented voice actors who can record some lines for the characters featured in the webcomic. The webcomic is called TINDER, created by Amajeart. This project will only be concerned with the first half of Chapter 1 at this time, so a relatively short video voice over with only a handful of characters. With the creator's permission, and with your help, I am adding sound and minimal animation to the first 30 pages of the webcomic.
ABOUT TINDER
Tinder is a fantasy comic set in a world that is divided between humans who are loyal to the gods and humans who are against them. The story follows Anya, a young woman who is bonded to a god named Zamora, and this bond makes her a "conduit" -- through her, Zamora can interact with the human realm while being trapped in the god realm. Zamora is interested in finding her sister and preventing a war in the human realm, so Anya must help her achieve her goal. There are many other characters involved in the story, but as I mentioned, this project will only be concerned with the first 30 pages of Tinder: Chapter 1 at this time.
Tinder is an original story created by Amajeart. This webcomic is rated PG-13. You can take a look at Tinder and read the first 30 pages of Chapter 1, or up to the latest update, on Tapas, Webtoons, or Tumblr, if you wish.
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
As I mentioned, this project will only cover the first 30 pages of Tinder: Chapter 1. I have spoken to Amajeart and gotten her permission to make this project. I am actually making this project as a final assignment for my college sound design class, so my primary goal is having the video made and prepared for class. This video will be uploaded to YouTube so that I can share it with my class, but I haven't decided yet if I will publish it or not. Either way, all voice actors and creators involved will be credited in the end credits and the description. I am also paying for this myself, so the budget is limited. Please see the rates below.
The first 30 pages are primarily about introducing the story and a conversation between three of the main characters, so I anticipate the video will be somewhere between 10-20 minutes in total length. The actual lines will probably only be about 5-15 minutes for each character, not accounting for multiple takes, or retakes or additional lines (if needed).
For these main roles, I am paying between $30-$50, based on the role and quality of audio. Payment for your voice work can be made through Paypal, Zelle, or Venmo. If retakes or additional lines are needed, we can discuss payment for those as well.
To voice these characters, I am looking for:
- 3 voice actors. 2 of the characters are women, and 1 of the characters is a man.
- Their lines will be in English.
- For these roles, I will be asking the voice actors to record their lines and submit their audio through Dropbox (or another platform if needed).
- The lines are relatively short since we are only recording for the first 30 pages, but the ability to record two or more takes of each line, or re-record a few lines if there are any technical issues, may be needed.
- I will need all of the lines by May 1st in order to complete the editing for this project in time for the project deadline, May 5th. If you can't record your lines between April 26th - May 1st, please do not apply to this project!
- Higher quality audio recordings are preferred! I don't mind doing some editing to sweeten the audio, but the ability to record lines with minimal background noise and good quality audio is a must. The cleaner the original audio quality, the better!
- Though this project is PG-13, only voice actors aged 18+ will be considered.
The deadline to audition for this project is April 25th, 2021. Once voice actors are cast, the deadline to record your lines and submit them for the final project is May 1st. This is a firm deadline.
Since this is a paid project that I am funding out of my own pocket: a significant level of technical and performance quality is going to be expected. Please ensure that your microphone is capable of recording your performance without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping. A couple of the lines require shouting/heavy emoting, as well. If this is something you cannot accommodate, please don't audition for this project.
WHAT TO EXPECT
When you've submitted your audition, I will get back to you after I have had a chance to listen to your audition. I will be sure to contact you no later than April 26th if you are considered for one of the roles. We can communicate via e-mail or Discord, whichever you may prefer. Upon accepting the role, I will send you a copy of the script (basically the lines in the comic but in a script format for ease of reading/recording). We will communicate about any questions regarding the role, the recording process, payment, etc. I may ask if you can re-record a line or line(s) if the audio or the performance can't be used for some reason. You will kindly submit your original recordings without any audio manipulation or effects added - I will take care of those as needed for the video. We will also discuss how you would like to be credited in the end credits and the description of the video.
If there is some aspect of this project description or the process that you have questions about, please feel free to ask. This is my first time casting voice actors, so I am not entirely sure what to expect.
HOW TO AUDITION
Please audition for whichever character you wish to voice. The roles have sample audition lines from the script, but you may apply with your demo reel if you think it matches what I am looking for with these characters. You can record and send your best line or lines, though voicing all three audition lines provided for the character is appreciated.
