Project Overview

Welcome!

Welcome to The Shadowed Prince AU casting call! This project was born from the love of everything Deltarune-related. If you are reading this, it means you are also enamored by the story created by Daedelweiss or Toby Fox! My team is looking for a couple of brave voice actors who are willing to join our team and lend their voices to this fan production. If you're interested in helping bring our characters to life, feel free to check out the casting call and audition!

What is This Project About?

We plan to create a full English fandub of The Shadowed Prince AU by Daedelweiss, featuring a talented cast of voice actors bringing the comic's characters to life. Our current goal is to adapt Episodes 1.1 through 1.5, delivering a high-quality production and showcasing our love for the characters and their universe. Depending on the reception and future updates to the comic, we hope to continue the project and adapt additional episodes as they are released.


What is The Shadowed Prince AU Comic?

Two years ago, a mysterious darkness swallowed the world, blotting out the sun and trapping everyone in the Dark World. With the Roaring frozen at its beginning, only one fading sanctuary of Light remains: the School. As the deadline of the Prophecy draws near, the Delta Warriors, Kris and Susie, are tasked with finding the long-lost Prince of the Dark before the last Light disappears forever.


Hidden away in the Deepest Dark, Ralsei has spent those same two years under Seam's protection, unaware of the Prophecy or the world's desperate search for him. When Seam suddenly vanishes, Ralsei sets out to find them, unknowingly crossing paths with Kris and Susie and becoming the key to saving both the Dark World and the lost Light World.


Inspired by the works of Anastasia, Next to Normal, God of War and structured around DELTARUNE's chapter format, this alternate universe explores a world where everyone knows the Prophecy... except the prince destined to fulfill it.

Audition Guidelines

  • Please either include your Discord username in your audition description, or at least have one to provide if you get called back/casted, as it will be our primary method of communication.

  • You must be 13 years or older to participate, in accordance with Discord's Terms of Service.

  • One take minimum, two takes preferred, and three takes maximum for each audition line unless specified otherwise.

  • Please use the AABBCC format when auditioning for a VA role.

  • Feel free to audition for as many roles as you'd like!

  • We are looking for clear, high-quality audio. Please avoid background noise such as fans, conversations, or echo.

  • Submit your lines raw or with only minimal editing (e.g., trimming silence and light noise reduction). Please don't add music or effects.

  • Keep your audition focused on the lines. If you'd like to share additional information (pronouns, microphone, availability, etc.), include it in your audition description.

  • Keep in mind that roles for this project may be long-term depending on how well the project goes.


What We're Looking For

When reviewing auditions, we'll focus on three things:

  • Audio quality – Is the recording clean and easy to understand?

  • Character fit – Does the voice suit the character?

  • Natural performance – Does the delivery feel believable and emotionally grounded?

For this project, we're aiming for natural, grounded performances that feel like genuine conversations rather than exaggerated "cartoon" acting. We want the characters to sound like real people experiencing extraordinary circumstances.


Payment

Payment rate for Voice Actors: $2 per line with a minimum payment of $25.

Payment rate for Audio Engineers: $5 per one minute of audio edited


Payment will be sent once the project has been finalized. Please note that this project is being funded out of pocket with a very limited budget, so I appreciate everyone’s understanding and flexibility while we work within these limitations.

Payments will be sent through Zelle for those located in the United States, or PayPal for everyone else. (Though I am open to other options if necessary.)


How Will the Audition Process Work?

  • Round One: All applicants will submit an initial audition using the provided lines for their chosen character(s).

  • Once auditions close, we'll carefully review every submission. Depending on the number of auditions received, this process may take some time, so we appreciate your patience.

  • Callbacks: For select roles, we may invite actors to participate in a callback. If selected, you'll receive additional lines or a short scene, along with personalized direction to help us explore your interpretation of the character.

  • After callbacks are complete (if applicable), we'll make our final casting decisions and contact the selected actors via Discord or Casting Call Club DMs.

  • If we believe your voice is a better fit for a different character, we may offer you a role you didn't originally audition for.

  • If you aren't cast this time, don't be discouraged! Casting is about finding the best fit for each role, and we'd be happy to keep strong auditions in mind for future projects.

  • Only actors who are cast or invited to callbacks will be contacted.

Hi! I’m Daniez! I’ve been doing YouTube and creative projects for a little over 10 years now (since I was 8). At the moment, I do clip compilations of big Deltarune/Undertale streamers (most well-known for the Snapcube clip comps), and I’ve found much success in that. Still, voice acting and directing are things I’m very passionate about and have wanted to do for a long time. I have some experience in VA and voice directing, but this is my first time ever fully directing a project of this scale. A big motivator for me as to why I wanna do a comic dub specifically is because 1. It’s easy for a beginner to get into and 2. I feel like comic dubs are in a really bad state at the moment (being dominated by A.I. and whatnot), and I just wanna make a comic dub that I would want to watch, and just hopefully make something that’s good and people will enjoy.

Character Description

Ralsei has spent his entire life hidden within the Deepest Dark. Aside from Seam, he has had little to no contact with others, leaving him lonely despite believing his isolation is necessary for his own safety. Although he respects Seam and follows their wishes without question, he has always dreamed of making friends and seeing the world beyond his home.


When he finally ventures outside in search of Seam, everything is new and exciting. He quickly falls in love with the Dark World, fascinated by its beauty and unable to understand why so many fear the darkness. His natural kindness allows him to befriend Lancer almost immediately, while his encounters with the Lightner Warriors challenge everything he thought he knew.


Ralsei is especially drawn to Kris, whose passion for music and playful personality intrigue him. He develops a close bond with them, though he struggles to understand Susie's guarded and cynical nature. Curious by heart, he constantly seeks answers and hopes that, in time, even Susie may open up to him.

While he carries himself with warmth and politeness, his sheltered upbringing often shows through his innocence and emotional vulnerability. His excitement over discovering the world should feel genuine, balanced by moments of anxiety and uncertainty.

Character Description

Unlike most interpretations of Kris, The Shadowed Prince AU gives them far more freedom. Rather than hiding the existence of the SOUL, everyone is aware of the Prophecy and the bond they share. Kris has learned to live alongside it, treating the SOUL less like a curse and more like a stubborn companion: sometimes teasing it, sometimes scolding it, and occasionally even confiding in it.

With greater freedom over their own actions, Kris embraces a more carefree and theatrical outlook on life. They spend their time playing the piano, flirting shamelessly, and masking their worries behind wit and confidence. Beneath that playful exterior, however, they struggle with the responsibility of keeping the peace between the people they care about.

Kris acts as the bridge between Lightners and Darkners, always trying to ease conflict before it grows. They quickly take a liking to Ralsei, charmed by his innocence and sincerity, though they slowly begin to suspect he is far more important than anyone realizes. Torn between honesty and protecting him from the truth, Kris struggles with the burden of knowing more than they can say.

Everyone is welcome to audition for Kris’s role. We are looking for certain charm and energy but the vocal texture is open to interpretation.

Kris should sound calm, witty, and effortlessly confident, often using humor and charm to deflect from what they're really feeling. Their playful banter should feel genuine, but there also should be some sort of nuance attached to their persona. They are a performer at heart, someone who can effortlessly switch between teasing, sincerity, and vulnerability.

Scene Context:

  • Line one: Kris caught Susie intimidating and threatening a classmate, which is the last thing the duo needs as they need to maintain an image with their higher-ups. (pairs with Susie’s 2nd audition line)

  • Line two: Kris and Susie find and meet Ralsei for the first time, and Kris suspects that he may be the missing prince from the prophecy that they’ve been trying to find for 2 years straight. Kris is trying to convince Susie that this is the guy. They’re also trying to be quiet so Ralsei, who is about 15ft away from them, doesn’t hear.

  • Line three (only 1 take recommended): Kris wants Ralsei to come along with them so they can fulfill the prophecy, and uses Ralsei’s missing parent, Seam, as a crutch to convince him, saying that they’ll help look for Seam if he agrees to come along with them. Kris puts on a theatrical mask and tries to do a convincing performance for Ralsei.

Character Description

Years of chasing the Dark Prince have left Susie exhausted. She's memorized the Prophecy by heart, grown weary of the Dark World, and longs for the day everything can return to normal. With only one week left before the prophecy reaches its conclusion, she's determined to finish what she started, even if she's long since stopped believing in it.

Despite her hardened exterior, Susie deeply cares for Kris. The two share an unspoken understanding, and she's one of the few people willing to shoulder the burden of the SOUL when it becomes too much for them. Outside of Kris and Toriel, however, she keeps everyone at arm's length, convinced that getting attached will only lead to disappointment.

Although she finds Ralsei's innocence frustrating, she can't help but admire his wonder and optimism. As the journey continues, Susie begins to question whether pushing people away is really the only way to protect herself.

Susie should sound confident, tough, and emotionally guarded. She rarely lets her feelings surface, often expressing herself through sarcasm, blunt honesty, or irritation. While she comes across as intimidating, there should always be hints of the caring person beneath the tough exterior. As the story progresses, actors should be able to portray moments of vulnerability without losing Susie's edge.

Although Noelle has yet to make a proper appearance in The Shadowed Prince AU, she serves as the narrator for the opening prophecy, introducing players to the world and setting the tone for the story to come.

Since her role is currently limited, we're primarily looking for a voice that captures the warmth, sincerity, and gentle nature associated with Noelle. Future appearances in the comic may expand or redefine her personality, but for now, the focus is on delivering the narration with clarity, the right emotional tone, and a touch of wonder.

Rather than sounding dramatic or theatrical, we're looking for a natural performance that carries a sense of kindness and curiosity.  Think childlike bedtime stories with that touch of wonder.

Audio Engineers will take the voice actors' recorded audio and polish it to sound clean and immersive. You'll also add special effects when needed to help create an authentic sound layer for the viewer. In general, you're going to create magic!
