Project Overview

Synopsis

The Lucy Sanders Case is about sixteen year old eccentric Ashley Parker who goes looking for her missing father in Tondell, a seaside town that would be most agreeable if it weren’t for its extensive rogues gallery of supervillains. Ashley recruits the help of her classmate Seb, a self-conscious illusionist, and together the two of them set out to unravel the town’s mysteries.

The Lucy Sanders Case is a superhero/mystery story with coming of age elements, aimed at a target audience of 12 and older. Its implicit focus lies in themes of mental health, packaged in a fun action-packed whodunnit.


About the project

After developing the concept for this series for a number of years in my spare time, I am making a teaser for it as my graduation film. This teaser will be a fully animated short film of 3-4 minutes briefly showcasing the series’s world, plot, characters, and art style. It serves to test the premise and artstyle and to potentially be used in future pitches.

The acting style I am looking for leans more to the realistic side, definitely not overly cartoony.

    Hi all,

    Wow, time sure flies! I'm very happy to report that the trailer is completely finished! You can watch a snippet of the final result on the Instagram account I've created for the project, @thelucysanderscase . I will do my best to post more updates there as I hopefully make further progress on making the series happen. As of current, I've teamed up with a screenwriter, and the two of us will be spending the next couple of months working out a pitch bible, which we hope to eventually present to a potential producer or studio.

    And that's a wrap! I will be going through all the auditions (so many! I'm stunned!) in the course of the next week and contacting the voice actors I'd like to work with! Due to the amount of submissions I'm not sure I'll be able to get back to everyone who auditioned individually but I do want to take this chance to express a heartfelt thank you. Thank you all for your time and effort, and thank you for using your talent to bring these characters to life.

    For those who are interested: if all goes as planned, I'll update this project again in a few months when the film is finished and I'm allowed to share it publicly.

As the Magician, a superhero armed only with cheap tricks, sharp wit, and a good sense of style, Seb helps Ashley on her quest to discover the truth about what happened to her father.
