Susan's Wish: Season Three [PAID ROLES]
Project Overview
Susan's Wish is an urban fantasy audio drama (or drama podcast) starring a group of Canadian high school girls, the lead of which is autistic. This casting call is for the third season of the show. It's a light hearted drama set in a world where fairies and magical girls walk among us. The scripts for the end of the series are still being written, but I believe the series will be five 10-20 minute episodes. Most of the roles being offered here are minor supporting characters being first introduced this season, but one main character is being recast after the actress left the project to pursue an opportunity in the film industry. A sound alike will be preferred, but I'm aware that's a tall order.
Due to the limitations of the website regarding decimals, it's impossible to properly state the rate for the roles in the correct place. I'm putting this in bold so it's entirely clear.
The rate being offered for all roles is $0.20 USD per line with a minimum set up fee of $10 USD per episode. Payment will be done through PayPal. The expected turn around time for your lines is two weeks. The deadlines are flexible, but chronic lateness may result in you being expelled from the project.

Jane has a complicated past and a strained relationship with her friends. She's very much a loner and has a hard time admitting her feelings. In the show she started off as a cold hearted antagonist, often using force and imitation to get what she wanted. After season one she changed her ways and has tried to shed this identity, but it's been a slow process.
For Jane I'm looking for a low to mid-ranged female voice. Jane's also from a bilingual household, so she as a slight French Canadian accent too. As I mentioned in the main description, this is actually a recast. Jane's original actress has left the project to pursue other opportunities. This is the voice she has had in the show so far. Ideally I'd like as close an imitation as possible, but I realize that might be unrealistic. Please try your best and good luck.
[Grumpy/Annoyed] It wasn’t a social visit, Mom. They wanted to plan a summer trip and I offered to host it.
[Sad/Sentimental] It’s CFB Bagotville, Dad’s old air force base. This is where he was stationed when “it” occurred.
[Amused/Teasing/Evil] Oh? You haven’t teleported? [laugh] Don’t worry, I’ll make it as painless as possible.
Nathalie is a hard working (and slightly opinionated) young woman. She and Jane Laporte were neighbours before Nathalie left for college, enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy shortly after graduation. In this season she only appears in a flashback, though I have more planned for her character in the future.
The voice I'm looking for Nathalie is on the deep and mature side, like an older sister. Don't go too mature though, as she's still in her early twenties. Mid-ranged voices will also be considered.
[Firm/Normal] Well, he said a lot. He first explained that peacekeeping is only a fraction of what the military actually does.
[Confused] O-of course I am. I don’t understand why that would be a problem. Has he--?
[Angry/Concerned] Jane, tell me what’s up with you. What’s happened between you and your father?
Lisa is a moody magical girl from Germany who runs away from home. She accidentally teleports to northeastern Canada where she meets Susan and her friends.
For Lisa I'm looking for a mid to high range teenage voice with a German accent. Playing a bit into the childish might fit my vision too.
[Annoyed/Grumpy] How am I supposed to know where you're from? To me all you English speakers sound exactly the same.
[Awkward/Firm/Serious] [clears throat] Thanks for driving the bear off. [pause] And nice technique with the force field spells.
[Groaning/Tried] I slept, but I’m jetlagged. My brain's still on European Time if that wasn’t obvious.
Marc Lemay is a colonel in the Canadian Army, starting as a private and working his way up the ranks. He often employs sarcasm and brash taunting during confrontations, but never to the point of becoming a loose cannon. Overall Lemay's usually pretty cool headed, though sometimes insensitive.
I'm looking for a mid-ranged voice with a French Canadian accent (Lemay is a New Brunswick native). Adding a little grit might also fit my vision.
[Surprised/Happy/Kind] Your dad was Major Laporte? [chuckle] I knew I’d met you somewhere. Didn’t you and your mother attend one of his promotion ceremonies?
[Condescending/Direct] It’s a shame, I really wanted to talk to you about your future. [pause] Too bad you can’t teleport places at moment’s notice.
[Thinking/Kind/Pushy] Well, I’m the commander at CFB Gagetown. We have a full Military Police detachment there, so if you're interested...
Ms. Laporte was willowed after her husband was killed in action as part of his service in the air force. She and Jane live together in the old family home as she works to keep her daughter happy. Compared to Jane, Ms. Laporte is much more positive and kind hearted.
For Jane's Mom I'm looking for a mid-ranged voice. Ms. Laporte is the Québécois side of Jane's family, so she has a French Canadian accent.
[Kind/Normal] I’m just happy you and your sister are on speaking terms with Jane again. You became so distant after Louis died.
[Happy/Kind] Correction: I tried to sell it. You might recall that it’s a 2001 model. No one would take it for more than $4,000, so I kept it for sentimental value.
[Slow/Guilty/Realization] Jane, this whole time I’ve been under the impression that you wanted to go on this trip. Have I been mistaken?
