Star Wars: Republic #49 - "Sacrifice" Comic Dub
Project Overview
As an Brand New addition to Krayt Dragon Films' Quest to make Comic Dubs of Every Star Wars Comic Ever, we present the Casting Call for Issue #49 of the 2003-2006 Legends series - Star Wars: Republic!
This Series was originally published as "Star Wars" by Dark Horse Comics and ran from December 1998 to October 2002, before being renamed as "Star Wars: Republic" and chronicling the story of the Clone Wars - the first in-depth series to do so.
This Issue - "Sacrifice" - was the first Clone Wars-set story in the series, and will be used by us as a Pilot before we move on to the main series.
While these stories are no longer Canon, and are now listed as Legends stories, they are still Star Wars comics, and therefore part of the Quest.
Please note that a number of Characters in this Issue will be recurring roles for the main series, so make sure to mention whether you will be available to commit.
Good luck to all who Audition!

Casting Call Extension
Just to let everyone know, I have extended the deadline to the 7th of August, as there are a number of people who I am awaiting return auditions for. There are still a number of characters I have not made my mind up about yet, so feel free to keep sending in new auditions! -
Phase Two Begins
As the first two weeks of the Casting Call come to a close, we are moving from Phase One into Phase Two. Phase Two means I have received enough Auditions to cast a number of characters, and can begin narrowing down any new Auditions to specific characters. Currently, Count Dooku, Tookarti, Darth Sidious and the Neimoidian Separatist have been cast. At the moment we need more Auditions for Quinlan Vos, Aayla Secura, Khaleen Hentz, Yoda, Mace Windu, Master Tholme and Grakko. Quinlan, Khaleen and Tholme being the leads, we would prefer if they received the most focus audition-wise. Have Fun and keep sending in Auditions!
Quinlan Vos is a Human Jedi Agent. Over the past few years he has put together a spy network inside the Separatist Alliance and the Galaxy’s Criminal Underworld. He is currently using the alias ‘Korto Vos’.
Quinlan was on the other side of the Galaxy when the Clone Army invaded Geonosis, and greatly regrets not being there to fight alongside the other Jedi.
Quinlan will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. Currently, I believe Quinlan should be played sort of like Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier or Matt Damon as Jason Bourne.
“Heard somebody was looking for me.”
“I’ve been out here for two years and I knew
nothing about what was being planned on Geonosis- and two hundred Jedi died
there! You might have died.”“This is where I can be of best use. There are
plenty of Jedi for Generals. I work best in the shadows.”
Aayla Secura is a Twi’lek Jedi Knight and is the former Padawan of Quinlan. She has been sent to check on him by the Jedi Council, who fear he may be in too deep. Aayla is a strong supporter of the Jedi code, contrary to Quinlan’s maverick approach towards it.
Aayla will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. She should deliberately not be played with a French accent, like in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and should instead have an American Accent.
“I’m not here to play games, Tookarti.”
“You taught me to accept
responsibility for my mistakes and to let the rest go. Will you practice what
you teach?”“The Council is calling on all Jedi to act as
generals with the Clone Army. Will you be coming back too, Quin?”
Khaleen Hentz is a Human Operative in Quinlan’s Spy Network. She grew up in the slums of the Outer Rim, but has become a valuable ally to Quinlan in his spying efforts; and has recently begun to develop feelings for him.
Khaleen will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. She has never really been portrayed by anyone before in Star Wars Media, so is a clean slate for any kind of accent or performance.
“I sensed something different about you from
the first, Korto. I’m guessing you’re both Jedi, right?”“It’s my Republic, too. Okay, it’s
corrupt, but how much worse would things be if it wasn’t
there? I live on the fringe, lady; I know how tough life gets without
order. So- let me do my part. My choice, okay?”“Look, here’s the deal. I don’t want to die.
Whatever this thing is, it’s not worth my life to me, okay?”
Zenex is a Falleen Crime Lord who is working for the Separatists. As a Falleen, he has the power to manipulate the minds of those around him by exuding Pheromones.
Zenex is utterly evil; he is a manipulative, controlling monster and his voice should convey that.
“Change of instructions. I want her alive,
as well as what she took, undamaged. Clear?”“I’m on a tight timetable. If I don’t have the
object when I need it, I will die. So will you. I promise.”“Let me offer you a choice, Jedi – the girl’s
life or the disc. Which do you save?”
Tookarti is a Chadra-Fan, and is one of Quinlan’s operatives. He is intelligent, yet cowardly and answers only to Quinlan.
Tookarti will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. He should speak in a high-pitched whistling voice.
“She may be a spy. May be an assassin.
Just watching out for you, Boss.”“Good news, bad news. Good news – found our
thief. Hiding in a garbage pit nearby. Bad news? There’s a Dianoga in the pit.”“Step carefully, please. Always, always we must
be careful, yes? Tell me, please – what exactly is your business with Boss Vos?”
Count Dooku is the public face of the Separatist Movement and Sith apprentice to Darth Sidious. He is the high commander of the Droid Armies and coordinator of the other Separatist Leaders.
Dooku will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. He should sound similar to his portrayals by Christopher Lee in the Star Wars films or Corey Burton in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
“Yes, you have played your part admirably.”
“The Cloning facility on Kamino will be
preserved for our use after this conflict is over.”
Tholme is a Jedi Shadow and Quinlan’s former Master. He helps to coordinate Jedi Intelligence agents from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Like others, he believes Quinlan may be in too deep with the Separatists, and it is Tholme’s request that Aayla is sent to check on him.
Tholme will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. He has had no major portrayals in Star Wars media, and can be played in any way you think would fit the character.
“Quinlan Vos was tracking something when I lost
track of him.”“In the two years since the Separatists declared
themselves, Quinlan has pieced together an impressive network of spies among
them.”“I’ve asked Aayla Secura to investigate. She was
his padawan. No one, not even myself, knows Quinlan quite so well.”
Grand Master Yoda is chairman of the Jedi Council. Along with Mace Windu, Yoda is the highest ranking Jedi advisor to the Republic Army and the Senate. Yoda feels a personal responsibility for stopping Count Dooku, as Dooku was once his own Apprentice.
Yoda will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. He should sound similar to his portrayals by Frank Oz in the Star Wars films or Tom Kane in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
“Grave reservations have I on all this! As peacekeepers
were the Jedi intended, not generals!”“Difficult will it be to perform our usual
duties and these as well.”
Mace Windu is second-highest ranking Jedi in the galaxy. Unlike Yoda, Mace has direct command in the Republic Army, as opposed to simply being an advisor.
Mace will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. He should sound similar to his portrayals by Samuel L Jackson in the Star Wars films or T C Carson in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
“With some reluctance, we have agreed with the
Supreme Chancellor that the Jedi must continue to assume command of the Clone
Army.”“Our forces are spread too thin, especially with
the battle on Raxus Prime. The galaxy is a large place and we do not know where
our foes plan to strike next!”
Darth Sidious is the Sith Lord, and is the coordinator of the Separatist Leaders and, as Chancellor Palpatine, the head of the Republic Senate.
Sidious will be a recurring character in the Republic Comic Dub series. He can sound similar to his any of his portrayals in Star Wars Media, though specifically like Ian MacDiarmid would be appreciated.
“Excellent, Lord Tyrannus.”
“The Upstarts wishing to displace you will be
disgraced when their attack fails.”“And Jedi will die.”
Grakko is a Quarren Bounty Hunter working for Zenex and tasked with hunting down Khaleen.
He should speak English in a guttural, wet-sounding voice.
“Job specifically requires you dead. You’re a
nice thief, but you must die now.”“Sorry - nothin’ personal, Khaleen.”
The Mercenary is an Alien Pirate; not quite a Weequay like Hondo’s pirates in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but definitely a similar species.
He should speak in a regional English accent, either Northern or West Country.
“Well, she was here; she was definitely here,
Mister Zenex, sir.”“Maybe it would help if we knew what it was
she took, sir!”
The Neimoidian is a contact between Zenex and the Separatists.
He should sound similar to Nute Gunray and the other Neimoidians in The Phantom Menace.
“Yes! I mean, no! I mean, I don’t know
what you mean!”
