Project Overview
We’re back. Intentionally this time!
Around this time last year, I tried to launch this comic with a team. It fell apart quickly. I ended up taking on nearly everything myself, the pressure escalated fast, and my health paid for it. I stepped away a week in.
That will not be the pattern this time.
You Have to Be Your Own Hero (BYOH) is a character-driven ensemble comic about a group of young adults discovering who they are (and what they’re capable of) in a world quietly threaded with power, prophecy, and something far more dangerous beneath the surface.
...They were never meant to be the heroes.
When a quiet breakthrough in human enhancement technology quietly leaves the lab and enters the world, everything changes. What began as a controlled experiment designed to push the limits of humans; is now something far more dangerous once it falls into the hands of people who were never meant to have it.
Strength bends metal. Bodies slip through matter. Minds that calculate faster than machines.
Power, once contained, begins to spread to the far corners of the earth.
As the line between weapon and human blurs, a generation is forced into a conflict they don’t fully understand. Some rise, determined to protect what stability remains. Others see opportunity in the chaos; control, influence, and domination. And in the shadows, the truth behind the invention begins to unravel, revealing a design far more intentional than anyone realized.
Because this was never just about power.
It was about control.
And now, as the world is learning the cost of both.
The characters of this book realize that no one is coming to save them. So they need to learn to be their own heroes.
