The world of Luxen is one of Magic... though it wasn't always this way. It used to be a peaceful world. One of joy, harmony, trade... until a few thousand years ago, when for reasons now lost to time... magic appeared. This magic split itself into 20 different types depending on the personality of the individual. Seven of these were the called the sinful magic types, those being Lust, Greed, Envy, Sloth, Wrath, Pride, Gluttony. Another 7 of them were called the virtuous magic types, which were Hope, Prudence, Fortitude, Faith, Justice, Charity, and Temperance. The final 6 were coined the combination magics, thought to occur when the sinful and virtuous traits mixed, and these 6 types were called Transparency, Hate, Love, Deceit, Restraint, and Curse. Each of these Magic Types came with their own special powers and abilities, and over time the world would slowly adapt to their existence. This is what led Luxen to become what it is today: A continent comprised of 21 different regions. 20 of them were representative of a specific Magic Type, while the last one was the capital, ruled by the individual considered to be the strongest across all of Luxen... though that wasn't all there was.
As well as the powers granted by one's Magic Type, each person also exhibited powers that did seem to be truly random. These 'random' powers would be dubbed the Unique Ability and Magic Weapon, which could do practically anything. The only caveat was that the powers of Magic Weapons had to be held within a conduit that each particular individual could create. The world ended up deciding that while it was important to train the powers of your Magic Type, your true place in society would be decided by the strength of your Unique Ability and Magic Weapon. This led to Luxen becoming a world dependent on strength. Those in power didn't just command others to protect them, they had the power to do what they wanted all on their own. Even today, with a system of nobles across every nation, you must still maintain your own power or risk losing everything to one who is stronger.
Hey everyone! what you just read is the general setup for my story Spirit Bound. I started working on this story over four years ago, and recently I decided that I wanted to take it to the next level and make an Audio Drama out of the story. I'm very pleased to say that with the help of some wonderful talent, this idea has fully come to life, and we've already released two full episodes! This means it's time not only to get some more voice actors, but also any other talent interested in helping out! But what I said earlier is just a lore synopsis of the world of Spirit Bound, so what actually is this story?
Spirit Bound is a high fantasy storyline that technically takes place across two separate stories, one in the future and one in the past. The past storyline tells the story of a world that is completely controlled by a woman named Astrid Kinellas, a queen of Hate Magic that has an unyielding hold on all of Luxen. The story spans across all of Luxen, dealing with the world under this dictatorship, as people desperately try to fight against her tyranny.
The future story happens 1600 years after the past story, where Luxen is in a state of complete disarray and chaos. Edmund Farelyn, a character from the past story, is now the King of Luxen, and over time has seemed to lose both himself, and his grip on the nations of Luxen. This story is meant to be a geopolitical war drama about all these different nations and characters with their own goals, motivations, and powers fighting for what they want and what they believe that they need.
The episodes will air alternating with "chapters" going between the future arc and the past arc, this episode, or "Chapter 3" as I call it, will release in several parts so that content is actually being released on a somewhat regular basis. This casting call covers all of episode 3, which means that you may not get lines immediately, since right now I am focused on part A of episode 3. Rest assured however, you will not be waiting long at all even if cast for a character not in part A, as I am working on this story most days to get it out! And of course, outside of that, it isn't like the cast changes with each episode, so if you're cast now, you could potentially be part of the team as your character for months or even years to come! If you join the crew, you can expect to be part of an Epic story, that has many seasons and stories planned to tell an emotional, action packed, and intense tale from the point of view of dozens of different characters across a diverse world!
This story has been my passion for many years, and that passion isn't going anywhere anytime soon. So, if you'd like to be a part of it, then I implore you, please audition!

Extra Notes: These are a few notes that you can treat as kind of a FAQ for questions I commonly expect to get.
If you are cast as a VA, then you also may be assigned some extra lines, if you don't want this, please let me know!
Please include your Discord tag in your audition, I exclusively do project communication through Discord.
NSFW Content: Basically, the story is very gory, people die often and can die in very brutal ways. There is also strong and exceedingly vulgar language. There is however not going to be any explicit sexual scenes beyond perhaps a suggestive noise. So if these guidelines are not amicable to you, please do not audition. The reason it is not marked as nsfw is because it is an audio format so generally not much gore is seen... so I apologize if that confused you.
This project comes with an IMDB Credit should you use your real name! You can see the page here!: Spirit Bound the Audio Drama (Podcast Series 2024– ) - IMDb
I understand some of the characters have lines which are quite long. For this casting call I'm looking for the ability to portray emotions for a character, no necessary perfection. So, if the character you're auditioning for has a long line or speech, then don't fret over a small mistake in pronunciation or a stutter, so long as you can keep the emotion afterwards flowing you're fine!
This story has A LOT of characters, with everyone from episode 1 and 2, plus everyone from this casting call and more in the future. Of course, not every character will be equally important. As such, each character as such will be labelled as:
Focus Character: A very important character to the overall story, which is usually at the center or near the center of a plotline (or the overall story at times). As such, they can be expected to nearly always be involved when that plotline is at play.
Major: A character who is encountered quite often and is usually important to a plotline but does have times where they aren't really involved in the story.
Supporting: Characters which come in and out of the story quite frequently and can often have multiple episode spans where they aren't important.
Minor: Characters that are either used very infrequently, or don't have much dialogue when they do appear. Potentially gone for long periods of time.
Here I would like to note that a role of high importance is also not a guarantee of your character's survival. If they are a focus character that dies early, then that simply means they are a main character until they die. People do die a lot in this show, and in the spirit of not being able to spoil the show in these auditions I unfortunately cannot reveal my current planned deaths. Deaths, much like how important a character is in the story in general, can also change as my plans change, so even if I could give you an answer, that answer may change a few months later. Basically, besides the most important beats of the overall story, many things are subject to change, so I cannot guarantee anything: Survival, death, or otherwise at this time.
As well as this, a few characters have multiple roles listed, like major/supporting. This simply means I am not fully sure at this time of the extent of their importance, and the way my plans pan out could make them either role
Episodes are all posted to my channel, and hopefully soon to all other podcasting services.

Many characters do not have an actual voice description. This is because I believe variety of voices could fit that character. Generally, I just aim to give a good description of their story and personality to help you get a feel for them and approach them how you see fit. If I do have a specific voice in mind however, I do list that.
This is a general guide on how important a character should be, but these are not guarantees! My outline of the story changes frequently if I find issues or need to do something else. So, while I have pretty much solidified the roles, it is possible the story is worked and a character you auditioned for because they were important becomes a supporting character or vice versa.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Payment is based on project success. If the project does not make any money, then I will unfortunately be unable to pay you. I have been contacted by so many people asking about this when it is already listed here, so please try to pay attention to this!
