PYRO-ILLUSION

Project Overview

Game description

PYRO-ILLUSION is a Five Nights at Freddy's fan game that has been a hobby project in development for a few years, and has become a lot bigger than I have anticipated. It has gained attention mostly because of the promotional content such as teasers and trailers.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftiKU0Y5Bio

I am reopening the casting page because I still need some extra roles.

People I am looking for

PYRO-ILLUSION is a one man project: I am working on the game on my own and build every single element. Graphics, music, sound design, coding, script. I do all of it it meticulously, something that I find incredibly important for a quality project

So when rarely it comes to asking for help from artists, I am looking for people who'd give the same effort, interest and investment as I put into the project, quality voice acting.

Audio quality must be guaranteed, no clipping, clear speaking. Avoid adding extra effects to the audio (distortion, pitching) unless it's intended to improve the quality of the files: compression, de-essing, noise reduction, etc.

Roles are non-paid since it's a non-profit project. If you get one of the roles, I will be sending you the full lines on Casting Call or Discord, which might change from the demo lines that you find on the public page.

What if I am selected?

Well, first of all congrats! Second, I genuinely hope that you'll love voicing the character and hold as much respect for them as we, the community, do.

Here is just one requirement, so make sure you're fine with this before applying: if you join the team, I would like you to be available for potentially delivering/recording additional voice lines in the future, at least for a couple of the upcoming years. Voice work will not be needed immediately, but I would like to fill the roles in advance. I will let you know well in advance if lines are ready to be recorded, so that we find deadlines that suite you the best.

If you are curious about the development of the project, you can also find me on Game Jolt (where I post most of the updates for the game) or Twitter

Happy auditioning!

  • Actors selected

Thanks for your time, and thank you for some of the really amazing submissions! It was sometimes tough to choose, each having its own interpretation, own style. But we finally managed to complete the crew Extra appreciation for some of yous nice words, I'm glad you like the project! And for those who were selected, welcome to the team!
  • Reviewing voice

Thanks for all of you who have participated and put time in recording and submitting your work for this project. It's extremely appreciated! I will shortly review all of the voices, discuss each of them with the team and select those that fit the characters the best. I will then message you and might ask for more demo voices, but mainly discuss the most important stuff for you to know, as well as give you more info on the roles. See you soon!

Theme park secondary mascot (Fox)

Unpaid
Role assigned to: John Whinfield

Anthropomorphic mascot (fox/snake hybrid). Calm, reserved, sounds and acts like a gentleman, but with a big evil grin on their face. Part of the musical performing group.

This role falls under "any gender", while I'm mostly looking for a male voice, I'm open to a more feminine interpretation of the character as well. The voice tone can range anywhere from rather deep to high.

Voice inspiration: Heisenberg from RE Village (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qryyCDiKDpE), Funtime Foxy from Sister Location (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTIth2GkjKA) and Moriarty from BBC's Sherlock (https://youtu.be/eBqmu4xC0K0?t=139)

  • [You're on a big stage, ready to give a performance in front of hundreds of people, mostly kids and teens] (Excited, loud) Just came up with an new riff, wanna hear it? Get ready, 'cause you're gonna enjoy yourself!

  • [As if you were getting interviewed] (Self reflective, wondering) Sometimes customers ask me what I am. (Quickly realise you don't care) I am not even sure myself!

  • [The other side of the character. Out of (the fun and charming) character mood] (On a serious but slightly frustrated tone, maybe even evil/scary) It’s truly remarkable how far they got. They never suspected a thing, but I didn’t either and I can’t believe they pulled me in, used me for their fame... They took everything from me...

Role assigned to: Sally Basler

Anthropomorphic mascot (dragon). Vivid, mid-range female voice. Since this character is performing on a stage, she has got a strong/loud voice.

This is a minor role and will probably require only a few lines, often just being a few words.

  • [You are warning customers] Stand back! This is going to get serious!

  • [You are performing in front of an audience] What about one last trick? For this one I'll need the help of my two great assistants!

Technician

Unpaid
Role assigned to: TheHellastorian

Young, responsible technician who helps out the player throughout the game. He is your working colleague, and is here to help you out over the phone.

He tries to give you the tips and advice, and guides you through the stuff you need to do. He knows that you're in danger and that the place is not safe. The player doesn't seem to know them well, neither does this guy, but he's a kind sounding person. Has a natural voice, don't speak too loud, shouldn't be slow paced either.

Overall stays up late at night and is invested in his work. He is dedicated to finding out the truth as much as the player does.

This is a lead role. It is very important not to keep it monotonous and emphasize the important content, especially when explaining how something works: those have to stand out from general background information (1st audition line example vs 2nd)

  • Everything steady? Good, now listen carefully because here's what I found: I've run some check ups and it says that the computer system got overloaded, SO a whole bunch of hardwired cable melted down. As an alternative, we've got some routing boxes that you can use to re-link the system. Take a look at the prototype box next to you. I'll explain how it works reall' quick.

  • [More emphasis on words when explaining how the player should interact with the game elements] Alright, starting from the left, click, hold down, and drag it all the way to the other side. Oh yeah, one thing: you never want to touch a teeth when the red light is on. Put your mouse over one of them and figure out when it's safe to remove it.

Female reporter

Role assigned to: Sally Basler

Minor female reporter role. Intonation similar to the reporter form "The Bad Guys" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLEi2tjaILE) but slightly more formal.

  • Good evening, breaking news! A local fox was spotted singing along with a rabbit. Now that's something you don't wanna miss out on!
