Marvel VS Capcom Infinite REWRITE Audio Drama
Project Overview
Hello, CCC! Morkez Marihser here. This casting call is going to be for a project I'm surprised hasn't been done already. Somewhere between a fanfiction and an audio drama to fix something that deserved much better.
The story mode of Marvel VS Capcom Infinite is a mess. Despite a lot of good elements, there were even more that were wasteful or botched. Describes the entire game, actually. But it didn't have to be this way. I'm not talking about the lack of X-Men, I'm talking about the concepts they had being utilized to less than their full potential. What I seek to do is create a narrated audio drama that retells the story with the original ideas enhanced, built upon, expanded, or altered to create a stronger story, and an idea of a stronger story mode.
The format's going to be this: A narrator (which you can audition for as well) will be describing the events of the game, with dialogue cut in featuring almost every single character in the story. The cast will include the original roster, the DLC...and perhaps even more than that. Some of the lines will be as they were in the original script. Some of them will be similar but better suited to the characters. And some of them will be brand new.
For every single character in the game, I am looking for an impression of what they sounded like in the original game. I will be giving the name of the original VA in the character description, as well as an alternative impression I will accept if you feel closer to that. Feel free to try for as many as you like, or do multiple impressions. I will listen to every single audition. The lines I'm giving you are a mix of material from the game and material from my new script.
Oh, and please. If you're going to include a filter effect of any kind, please include the same line without the effect so I can hear the before and after. Otherwise, I can't really work with it.
I'm going to start by opening up auditions for characters that appear through the end of the second chapter. More characters that debut later on will be added in updates. The deadlines will be five weeks from the start of the update.
The project will mostly be managed over Discord and does not yet have specific release dates. If you do not have a Discord, include that in your audition and we'll discuss other options.

7 Roles Left! Emergency Extension! (2/23/21)
Thanks to everyone who auditioned! Things really picked up during the last week, and I've been able to take the couple days after the casting call concluded and cast most of the roles! Unfortunately, the key word there is "most", as there are still seven more roles that I am unable to cast for varying reasons. As such, I'm extending the deadline to March 3rd, and making it a first-come, first-to-impress, first-serve basis. This casting call has been running for ten weeks and I am eager to get started. The remaining 14 characters have been added and the deadline for them has been set for February 21st! This update features characters that are not in the original game whatsoever and are being added to the story as part of the rewrite! The dividing line between the first and second rounds is between Thor and Akuma. For any characters I do not cast from Round 1 by the end of the week, I will cast them as soon as I come to a decision. This may happen at any time in the next month, so if you are set on auditioning for them I suggest you do it soon.

Sir Arthur, a knight of the Demon Realm, fights off ghosts and goblins and gouls and demons and gargoyles and skeletons and what have you. He takes it on the chin and remains a pretty standard chivalrous medieval knight. While not quite at Thor's level of Shakespeare in the Park speech, the two have much in common. Another good model for the performance, incidentally, is King Arthur from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Natasha Romanoff, AKA the Black Widow, is a spy first and an Avenger second. Her checkered history has left her with a body count she regrets, but through being an Avenger she's turned herself around. She has a very dry wit and a very active personalities. She might be a femme fatale for her job from time to time, but here she's all business. That dry wit is the most important part of the performance I'm looking for. Widow was not in the original story, but I'm adding her in here.

He fights for peace non-stop, even when it goes against friends who take their noble intentions too far. While the MCU version is very good, the voice type is a little too far off from Brian Bloom's original performance, so try and avoid that. Same goes for Roger Craig Smith's version inspired by the MCU.

Major Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, is not the first person to hold that title, but she is the most recent and the most famous. Ever since taking the mantle, she's become a leader and an inspiration to many. However, unlike some takes on the character that focus on her as an inspiring figure, the original game and my script focus on her personality from when she was Ms. Marvel. Outside of battle, she's very duty-bound like Captain America. On the field though, she's a cocky badass who gets a thrill every time she punches out a bad guy.

Commander Chris Redfield of Special Tactics and Rescue Service (STARS) has had a long history of dealing with criminals that become monsters, figuratively and literally. He's worn down by betrayal and has little patience for practical jokers. Many of his best friends and family have been killed or corrupted, and the skeletons in his closet never stay dead. Roger Craig Smith's portrayal is a must here. (Also part of the reason why Smith is not acceptable for Captain America.)

As an agent of Interpol, she can be no-nonsense. But she takes pride in her lightning fast legs and her commitment to justice. After a successful takedown, she can even get a little giddy.

Cocky doesn't even begin to enter it, but the guy's got a good heart. No really, he does. I'm obligated to say that too.

Hiryu of the Striders is a high tech ninja black ops saboteur/assassin on the side of the angels. (I know that sounds complicated, but it's shockingly accurate.) Hiryu is mission-oriented and usually a man of few words, preferring to get to the point. He has no tolernace for villains with speeches on their own superiority and their 'grand experiments', and will do what he must to stop them. Even when he charges in without a plan, he gets the job done.

The next character I am adding to the game is Akuma, an emotionless and powerful warrior who wields the Satsui no Hado with ease, and seeks to master it by battling foes who are worthy. He rarely encounters them, and those who make the mistake of challenging him often die in the process. He has no tolerance for hubris or bravado, and if somoene seeks to rule through dishonorable combat he will often kill them without a second. His moral code, as thin as it can be at times, is the only thing that prevents him from destroying every life on Earth. The portrayal of Akuma I would prefer is that of Street Fighter IV, but Street Fighter V is also acceptable.

He will not waver on any stance that involves the safety of his people, and values long-trusted alliances above anything else when it coems to outsiders. He sometimes even rejects the presence of close friends if he believes his people will be put at any kind of risk. (With all due respect to the excellent performance of the late Chadwick Boseman, his take is not what I am looking for in this project.) A DLC character, his role is slightly expanded from the original.

Doctor Stephen Strange, literally his name, is the Sorcerer Supreme of his reality. There are many magical forces, many of them with hostile intentions to mortals or the natural order, and it is his duty to wield his mastery of the mystic arts to protect the world. He's often the one people go to for sage advice with a serious look on his face, but when the world is not at risk he can crack a joke at times. Of course, this is not one of those times. Cumberbatch was perfectly cast for the live action role, but Liam O'Brien is slightly preferred here.

Clint Barton, AKA Hawkeye, is a former criminal turned Avenger with a stint as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent somewhere along the line. (The order of events depends on continuity.) While many heroes do wisecracking sarcasm, Hawkeye makes it an art form, even more so than his perfect archery record. He never misses his target, even if you don't know what he's aiming at. Plus he tries to be a bit of a ladies' man, though never as much as Tony Stark. If you've seen Earth's Mightiest Heroes, you know what to do.

Doctor Robert Bruce Banner, belted by gamma rays, turned into the Hulk. Ain't he un-glamou-rays? (Yeah, I'm cringing too from that old cartoon.) Hulk is a very complicated character in the movies and especially the comics, but in this game he is a rage monster who has learned to take his anger and turn it into power he can direct at the proper enemy. Feared as a monster as much as he's celebrated as a hero, he's become a vital member of the Avengers. Even though he's quit the team more times than he can remember joining it.

The character of Iron Man, a genius wise-ass in the first place, was basically reinvented by Robert Downey Jr. and Eric Loomis gave us a spot-on impersonation. He continued to do so in this game so that is what I am looking for. He's also very talkative so please, have fun with it.

The Monster Hunter from Val Habar, or in this case Valkanda, is a typical example of when a player character gets a voice and a personality. This one is very upbeat about slaying monsters and helping people. There really isn't much more to her in the game, and I'll be flexible as far as the voice I accept here. In the story, she is a loyal subject of Black Panther, taking the usual place of the Dora Milaje. A DLC character, she becomes playable in this version and gets a slightly boosted role.

Richard Rider, a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and the Nova Corps, started as a quipper and thrill-seeker. After a series of universal threats his personality took a drastic change for the darker. What we're left with is somewhere in the middle, a duty bound space cop who at least has a sense of humor. Given room to breathe, he can have fun once in a while, but it's never what he defaults to. (The depiction in the Marvel VS Capcom games is weird, especially with the drastic recast from Troy Baker to Ben Diskin, but try to stick to the latter..)

A Capcom character I'm adding into the game, Rashid of the Turbulent Wind hails from the Middle East in Street Fighter V. He is something of an online celebrity. That is, he tries to be, but he doesn't seem to be successful. People he challenges to a fight don't seem to recognize him, and that drives him to make more of an impact. Essentially, he's a YouTuber who can create whirlwinds. (So, LESS full of hot air. *ba dum tss*)

Capcom's stoic mascot in a gi, Ryu is one of the greatest martial artists in the world, and a wandering hermit searching for inner peace. He has clashed with everyone from celebrities, demons, and children seeking to prove themselves. Still, he does not strive for the prowess or the title, instead to find his inner truth...insert martial arts movie cliche here. What sets Ryu apart is his rage, and how it manifests with the deadly Satsui no Hado which he works to keep under control, or else he'll go into a murderous rampage.

Star-Lord is one of a few characters I am adding in from outside. Inspired by Ultimate Alliance 3, Peter Quill, AKA Star-Lord, is the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He might not be the most mature or level-headed superhero, and he is quite a braggart even when he doesn't deserve it. Still, he's learned from universe-ending crises and his royal heritage to keep things under control, or at least to get the job done while being a bit of an idiot sometimes. While I won't give him tons of 80's quotes, the movies are a decent example for him, but stick to an impersonation of Scott Porter if possible.

The Mad Titan Thanos is one of the most dangerous beings in the history of the Marvel universe. While the cinematic version was a crusader willing to commit atrocities for the greater good, this Thanos and the Thanos of the comics is the ultimate nihilist. He worships Death, even when Death herself spurns him away. He is a cunning manipulator and genius strategist, which makes him a threat even without the power of a demigod. He fancies himself a force of the universe and he is often right about it. While the MCU version is good, his character does not match the source material enough to fit. I will require, specifically, the version of Thanos from the game.

While not a fighter, Tyrone "TK" King will be featured as a new addition to the story. Hailing from Dead Rising 2, Tyrone is an opportunistic radio jockey who went from a musical career to hosting a reality show in a zombie apocalypse, having no qualms about killing zombies nor anyone who gets in his way. In this story, his role will be taking inspiration from that, though for reasons of spoilers I cannot say what. Overall, he is an emcee who cares only about himself and the entertainment of his audience, especially if people he hates are going to die. His voice should resemble the portrayal in Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

This is the last new character I am adding to the game in this casting call. Doctor Albert Wesker is nothing short of a monster with the aspirations to be a god. He has changed public allegiances more than socks, but he has always had his own plans. From studying virology to create the perfect weapon to infecting himself to become one, he's twisted minds and DNA strands with ease. One of his former allies, Chris Redfield, has always been able to survive, escape, and often thwart his plans. But he always has another one ready. Wesker's iconic slimy voice is a must, as he simply oozes superiority complex and betrayal with every syllable.

James Buchanan Barnes, also known as Bucky, was Captain America's partner before he was supposedly killed. Captain America fell into the ice and slept for decades until being revived, but so did Bucky, being brainwashed and implanted with a metal arm to become the secret assassin only known as the Winter Soldier. Gone was his upbeat attitude, now he's just a war machine. Even after breaking out of his programming and spending some time as Captain America himself, he is still an incredibly serious person with nothing but the mission on his mind.

In Marvel Comics, Death is not just a state of being. Death is a woman, and a beautiful one at that. She is a natural force of the universe taken form, and the object of Thanos' ultimate affection. She is also a manipulator, as when the natural order goes in a direction that takes away from her domain, she will make a small push to get it back. In the end, Death is not evil, she is inevitable, and through a seductive form she will simply accelerate the process from time to time.

Morrigan of the noble Aensland family may be a succubus but she isn't necessarily evil. While she's destined to rule Makai, she's far more interested in entertaining and feeding herself on human souls and desire. She doesn't seek to do it for personal gain or maniacal hedonism, it's just how she is. (Essentially, "I'm not bad, I just eat your soul that way.") Her voice needs to be incredibly seductive, as you might guess. (IMPORTANT: A Scottish accent is absolutely required for the role. The accent Flynn provided in the game was inconsistent, ranging from English to Irish, so improve on it with your own. Flynn's accent in Teppen is more stable so use that as a model as well.)
