  • I Have the Power - Completion

Hello all! It’s once again Ryder here from months and years yonder at long last with the release date of the 1980s gag dub, ‘I Have the Power.’ Which would be... er, um... right now! ‘I Have the Power’ is set to premiere at midnight here in Australia, approx. four hours from this update. Naturally, we are starting with zero followers, zero views and zero awareness. As such, I would most appreciate retweeting the trailer on our new channel, The Big Kids' Clubhouse, our Twitter @BigKidzCH and coming along to watch our maiden season together at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcc9TQ3K6eGlJRqvlLJTATBP3F8P2hwqe Thank you to all following this project, who showed their support and of course to those who participated. It’s been a wild and wonderful journey with so many people from so many different places, backgrounds, passions and experiences, and I look forward to the day we can work together again. Until next, my best wishes to everyone, your careers and your journeys. Kind Regards, Ryder
  • New Role Available

Hi All, This an update regarding the animated gag dub, I Have the Power, following auditions closed back in October. Due to unfortunate circumstances and losses experienced from COVID-19, one of our voice actors is no longer able to continue work despite reaching the revision stage of recording. The role of Chester McTech, a young boy genius and main character sitting at 1614 words (fourth largest count out of fourteen), is thereby available for recasting. In lighter news, all other voices have now reached 100% completion and are in stages of revising, which is a huge accomplishment for everyone involved. An extract of the characters “Rachel & Cindy” with full background audio included can be viewed under Previous Works, or at this link directly: https://www.canva.com/design/DAEN6ctEC_0/RfIsCNVQoa0Tss-nziIa3w/watch?utm_content=DAEN6ctEC_0&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton As we’ve entered the holiday season, the actor for Chester will not be required to begin work until early 2021 if their schedule demands as such. Thank you for everyone’s continued support and I can’t wait to see the end results in our very near future. :)
  • Auditions Closed

Hi all! As auditions have now come to a close, I’d like to thank the overwhelming number of applicants for giving this project your time and consideration. Offsite auditions and main cast included, the total number of samples reached over 400 so you definitely didn’t make this an easy task! Looking to the future, audio engineers will be hired to fill the diegetic background alongside graphic artists to create the opening and end credit sequence. Other than that, for everyone who did not receive a role, I’d like to note that this is only the first prototype of what will be many projects to come. The second season of I Have the Power as well as two spin-offs, Choose Your Fighter & Hear Me Roar, have already been drafted. For now, it’s a matter of letting this initial season test the waters to see if a fanbase can be reached and, if so, I hope to see you all again in 2021 with more of the ridiculous content that I pawn off as work. Chester McTech

Chester's bio is available in the Introductory Docket and is as follows:

It’s the li’l erudite youth abused for the machinations of every single character on the show, but why wouldn’t you? He’s clearly an incel or, at least, that’s where his story begins after accidentally implying that “some women bully men” in episode one and completely missing the mark on his woke target. In this regard, Chester is the boy genius reinvented, addressing retro tropes that considered all nerds inherently sweet. Pierce frequently clashes with him, he seems to operate a weapons facility full of his “precious guns” and his obsession with the supernatural enflames Tara’s desire to “club him to death like a baby seal.”

Still, Chester’s goals are heroic and the series follows his emotional development dealing with anxiety and self-doubt, which inevitably morph him into a confident love-spewing protagonist concerned with saving the world from Bianca and Tara. He just needs to go outside more…

Note: the third page includes two scream sequences from Chester (A) being struck with a shuriken star and (B) running for his life from a pack of raptors. Despite only being two abrupt lines, these were included because it's important to hear how VAs manage to shout or express horror without breaking their equipment (and it can be an excellent opportunity for humor).

Shanelle Spencer

Role assigned to: Savy Des-Etages

Hate the world? Then this role will be a breeze. Shanelle is the logical realist constantly pushed to the brink by the madness around her, usually resulting either in aggression or fatalism. "Why me?" is a great thought to keep in mind when voicing Shanelle. Your only job is to determine when she 's had enough, hit rock bottom, is being ironic or genuine. And, in non-comical situations, she always defaults back to the role of leader.

Her bio is available in the Introductory Docket and is as follows:

Poor, poor Shanelle. For if there was ever a perfectly normal person on this show, it would be Shanelle Spencer, and, by god, that is not a position to wish upon your worst enemy.

Shanelle is the study-body president and leader of the teen club. That is, in any time of chaos, Shanelle is noticeably in charge and directing the others to safety with a steady hand. However, as a realist, this means she faces the brunt of the jokes, that she acts as the set-up to the punchline, and frequently becomes cynical over the world that refuses to recognise itself as insane.

Shanelle picks up screen time effortlessly after episode four, much like Larke, and maintains her presence throughout the series whole. Though, she never seems to get a window into who she is emotionally. Rather, that she is closed off and unemotive appears to be her character. While Blaze could be a leader of people’s feelings, Shanelle is a leader of logic. Troy refers to her as “the strongest friend.”

Jett

cast offsite

This is ought to produce a curious variety of results as "how does one sound like an insane rocker warrior from another dimension?" Jett's original voice was a very unique use of intonation, the rise of fall of pitch, reminiscent of Brittany from Daria (1997). That up-and-down motion conveyed this foolishly unwavering belief in her own words, while the rasp of her voice projected the wear-and-tear of rock n ' roll. All and all, madness is a difficult archetype to accomplish, but getting the words to flow naturally as if you believe it yourself will help get a laugh out of viewers (which should always be your goal).

Her bio is available in the Introductory Docket and is as follows:

Enter Jett, an indestructible rocker warrior from another dimension.

At least, that’s what she claims to be as Jett is the most dangerously insane human being to grace this entire series. She’s the true mascot of the show. Regardless of how many lines she has or her time spent in the spotlight, she always makes her presence known and has a standout madness to her every word.

Jett hates werewolves and the Greek god Poseidon for reasons unknown. She claims a “dark wizard” held her captive in a tower in a previous life and that she could crack the planet in half if she really wanted to.

If a conspiracy theory could be a person, it would be Jett.

She and her rock partner, Gig, also play the music throughout the series made up entirely of songs from other 80s cartoons, sufficiently breaking the fourth wall in her natural style. Though, their instruments never seem to make the right noise and supposedly “Jett throws a bomb at the end of every show.”

Radley

Role assigned to: shaunisspaced

Let your spirit dance in the wind with this one. Radley is the surfer trope embodied, and all the groovin ' free-lovin ' language that comes with it. Your focal points for his character may simply be the words "whoa" and "dude" as you attempt to embody his blissful airheadedness. Though, like Troy, this is entangled with a bit of child-like naivety and absurd positivity. Radley isn't someone who's just been doing too many drugs. Rather, he, like Jett, confidently believes his own words despite them never making any sense.

His bio is available in the Introductory Docket and is as follows:

Don’t do drugs, kids. Better yet, don’t attempt to fly a surfboard into the horizon using the power of the Buddha, or else you may be Radley.

This incomprehensibly cooked human being began the series as the teen club’s most adored member, surpassing even Troy, until his iconic debut in episode four, “Enter the Radley.” Larke and Shanelle attempt to prepare Radley for an exam, only to learn how insufferably idiotic he is.

Like Jett, Radley’s interpretations have no feasible logic to them. It takes a lot for someone who is simply “stupid” to stand out amongst a roster full of madness, but Radley somehow does this to the point of provoking irate screams. He takes surfer clichés and spins them out into an infuriating lack of sense.

In that regard, Radley was actually the trigger to Larke’s descent from her otherwise preppy pedestal. She becomes irrevocably depressed trying to teach him and, from this moment on, wishes Radley’s death more than anything. Radley’s idiocy does a better job at crushing Larke’s soul in one episode than Bianca could in the entire series.

His catchphrase is simply the word “squirrel” and if you say the word “whoa” five times over with enough drawn-out emphasis, you’ll likely reach Radley’s tone of voice. 70% of my country should be able to…

Gig

Role assigned to: jeffhuntva

Gig's a charming misogynistic pseudo-magical murderer that really loves fire. So, what on earth does that sound like? You'll notice his lines lean toward a casual approach to his pure evil rhetoric. He playfully threatens everyone around him in a way that is, somehow, attractive. You may want to try incorporating his original voice which resembled a near-British Mick Jagger, projecting that retro rock n' roll sex appeal. In fact, my countrymen have shown a casual Australian accent works just as well. In short, if you can pronounce the word "innit" you're on the right track.

[Gig's episode slated for season one was released in horrific quality by Cookie Jar/DHX Media. It is currently undergoing restoration but, for now, has not been included in the word count]

His bio is available in the introductory docket and is as follows:

Lock your doors and your goats’ pen because Gig is coming to sacrifice it all. Gig is the other half of Jett’s rock ‘n roll duo and also a violent psychopath.

He’s the one character that seems to genuinely scare the others with his allusions to murder and mayhem as his examples are simply more realistic than the others. Though, none fear him more than Gig’s own talking guitar, constantly terrified of the world around it.

Gig has the fewest lines in the series which is why his character has been made as impactful as possible to ensure he stays relevant. Luckily, he has his own individual episode in season one to make up for his word count, and one that includes the incredibly rare romantic matching of Gig and Larke, and Gig and Tara, take place within it.

In fact, Gig dates more people than anybody else on the show, despite knowing that he’s pure evil and obsessed with controlling Jett. Somehow, Gig maintains his presence as a Mick-Jagger-like Lothario from the original series, simply because he looks like a “beautiful house-trained Tarzan.”

So, while Gig may not always talk and will only do so when plotting to lock up the entire cast in his basement, at the end of the day, everybody wants to sleep with him. And that’s… something.

Rachel's bio is available in the minor character docket and is as follows:

This is my personal favourite of the series. It's Rachel and Cindy, a duo of scrappy villains plotting to destroy Chester's confidence for a $50 gift voucher. Rachel has the most guttural and crass language used on the show. She's intended to speak with a heavy smoker's cough, parallel to Lola from Big Mouth (2017), and may be more desirable to masculine voice actors. Cindy as her sidekick contrasts with a whining shrill voice and supposedly begs for food on the beach in her spare time.

Voice Acting Tip: Rachel's androgynous, masculine and/or disgusting tone can be difficult to master. Her "heavy cough" when being pushed over the garden wall is designed to be her most memorable joke (much like a catchphrase) and it's what I'll be looking at to cast the role. Pretend you're throwing up a hairball and you'll be right as rain.

Poor poor James. As a guest judge for the Teen Club's "Fashion Show for the Fallen," James recounts losing his family to a "spectre made of pure radiation, still yet to be caught." Empress's bio is available in the minor character docket and is as follows:

Empress is Bianca's poodle. Though, that surely can't be true, considering it barks in Aramaic chants using a dark and unholy register. This demonic voice actually appears in many different animals throughout the series, from rats to horses and birds, all shouting biblical predictions of the future and all referred to as Empress. In the latter half of season one, Empress begins to speak in English but remains just as mysterious in their references. At Bianca's going away party, Empress attacks her and expresses that they have no loyalty to Bianca but rather "darkness itself."
