Hevn Sci-Fi Game

Hevn Sci-Fi Game

Project Overview

We're basically looking for middle-aged/natural sounding voices where "character" is probably most important (i.e. not sure how to describe it but coughing, breathing, roughness, or "imperfections" are all great to have, as opposed to focussing mostly on clarity and enunciation).

Some info about the game:

Hevn is a first person sci-fi survival mystery game where the player plays as a young man who was recently hired to work at a remote mining facility. You quickly discover the world is harsh, resources are low, and some things are not as they seem. Survive and unravel a mystery.

Role assigned to: Christina Nicholls

This is a dynamic role that spans several scenes. A script will be provided where each scene has a little more context if that helps.  Three of the 12 scenes are provided below as a sample.

The character for which this dialog is written, is named “Edna”.

Edna is a close friend to the main character, name Sebastian (played by the player). She is also a double agent, hiding her activities from the corporation she works for.

  • (Friendly, camaraderie, teasing)

You are always so dramatic. Command always gets themselves into such a twist. Leave them to me!

  • (Dying)

There's no time, you've got to finish what we started... Remember Komagata... (last breath)

  • (In confidence, voice message)

Hey Sebastian, Edna here. Sorry I missed our crew night out for the millionth time, had a last minute obligation... again. See you at the mission briefing.

This is a brief role with about 10 speaking parts.  All of the character dialogue below is heard by the player at various indoor and outdoor computer terminals. The player will interact with the terminal to listen to audio logs left by various NPC co-workers beforehand, specifically EN119, EN120, and EN121. These messages are recorded for the next co-worker to listen to.

Most of these messages are recorded in a somewhat harsh and windy outdoor environment at the end of a physical work shift.

  • (In a slightly winded and concerned voice)

Everything ran pretty smoothly here. Actually, I know this sounds weird but I think I saw someone up on the ledge. Yeah, it was dark... but, I dunno. Just in case, keep an eye out.  They should know better.

  • So, I had to switch the water valve on and off a couple times.  Everything seems to work ok now.  No problems with the drill bit heat.  By the way, there’s a hood beetle on that hill.  Watch out if anyone plans on working up there.

Leif Holte - Laboratory Scientist

This role has ~11 speaking parts.  This character essentially works in a fully equipped isolated laboratory with one other scientist.  He's smart, risky, and sometimes pushes boundaries to a fault.  Also any hint of an accent would be great, though Norwegian would probably be most fitting.

Each audio part is the character speaking into a recorder as sort of a work/personal journal.

  • (Professional)

Lab notes log, Leif Holte, day 76. Nothing to report as exciting as yesterday. Nataliya's results were pretty conclusive. Seems we'll be able to eventually have a stable process producing far greater yields of pure, activated soviten.

  • (Tired)

I think this'll be my last trip. I know I could probably sign up for another one. This soviten is going to change everything and they'll only want us to come out here more, longer and longer each time. But damn this is hard.

  • (Tired but upbeat)

Hit the treadmill today, felt good to get the legs moving. Though I can tell I've really got to pick up the pace! Feeling a little out of shape.

  • (Professional)

Lab notes log, Nataliya Motya, shift day 75. Had some interesting results replicating the super-conducting tests started on Europa a few days ago. Its takes forever to get the data through Spooky Radio, but seems the wait might have been worth it.

This is a brief role with about 8 short scenes of spoken dialogue.  All of the dialogue will be heard in the form of audio logs that are played back on various computer terminals.  This is a much less taxing role compared to EN121.  The dialogue is meant to be an "end of shift" type dialogue (where each shift lasts months at a time).  A little background about the character if it helps:

His name is Urtuh Gnu.  Was a successful engineer, even after losing several fingers in an accident.  He has a quick wit and is sometimes the "life of the party".  He left his current position to become a mining engineer for the increase in hazard pay and also because of the positive vision of the new company.

* Jun 8 edit:  Apologies for not including this info earlier... These messages are often recorded in a somewhat harsh and windy outdoor environment at the end of a physical work shift.  Plus they may have been recorded during the night.  So there may be some underlying concern for the character in some cases.  Added a rough image of one of the outdoor terminals.

  • Gear is as tight as can be.  Be safe everyone.

I barely had any time for anything.  So there are still a few deposits left nearby.  I kept getting delayed  by those high toxicity gases, so I tried to make up the time by fine-tuning  the water levels.

  • Couldn’t repro any issues with the drainage however the drill did overheat once.  There was an irregular surface temperature so that probably caused it.
