Project Overview

Hey everyone! We are Elsewhere Again, a brand new indie studio obsessed with character-driven stories, and we are beyond hyped to introduce our debut project: Hemlock!

Right now, we are putting all our blood, sweat, and tears into an animatic pilot teaser. This is our ultimate proof of concept! Since we are purely indie and just getting this off the ground, we are currently only paying a flat $20 for the teaser recording. BUT, if we knock this out of the park and expand into a full season, you will absolutely be brought on as the official, permanent voice for the character!

Casting Call
We do not care about how long your resume is or who your agent is. We care about raw, undeniable performance! If you have the talent, we want you. New voices and newcomers are heavily encouraged to step up and apply!

The Vibe
Grounded, highly emotional, and deeply human. We are diving into some slightly heavy themes, but we promise to balance that weight with real intimacy, genuine laughs, and warmth.

Los Angeles, 1985.

Welcome to a retrofuturist LA, a solarpunk utopia running on cassette-futurist/retrofuturistic technology, shaped from the ground up by the Office of Public Accountability.
Clean, orderly, optimistic on the surface. The question is what holds it all together.

  • HEMLOCK LEAD CAST REVEAL

    After a lot of discussion (seriously... a lot), we're incredibly excited to finally say that

    Hemlock officially has its lead cast!

    This was not an easy decision. We had so many talented people audition, and narrowing everything down took a great deal of deliberation. We're genuinely grateful to everyone who shared their time, talent and passion with us throughout this process.

    Without further ado, here's the lead cast:

  • 3 DAYS LEFT OF AUDITIONS?!

    Hey everyone! Just a quick update from us at Elsewhere Again:

    With just three days left of auditions, we have nearly 900 AUDITIONS! Our team has been hard at work reviewing each one several times and deliberating behind-the-scenes.

    If you want to audition whether for the first time or again, NOW IS YOUR CHANCE! We highly recommend checking out our audition packets if you haven't already.

    Also, sorry for being a little quiet recently. We've been handling a lot of legal and business setup behind the scenes, and there's been a bit of a backlog in their systems while things process. Things are moving forward though, and we're excited for what's coming next!

    We are opening up two application pools for people who want to join us in building Hemlock from the ground up.

    General Volunteer Application Creative and production support across all departments. If you want to help but are not sure where you fit, this one is for you.

    Visual Artist Application Character art, environment design, style exploration and more. We are shaping the visual world of Hemlock and would love your eyes and skills on it.

    There is no experience requirement. Seriously. We care most about passion, creativity, and just being a good person to work with. Every application gets read personally. We would love for some of you to be the first names on this project!

  • 500+ Auditions?!, Mother's Day, and a Note from the Heart

    Hey everyone!

    We hope you had an amazing Mother's Day(that is, if you celebrated today).

    Now, onto the update.

    500+ auditions. We genuinely do not have the words. When we posted this casting call, we hoped for some interest. We did not expect this. Every single submission has been listened to with care, and we mean that. Thank you.

    A note on the deadline and May in general:

    Our audition deadline is still May 22nd, but we know May is extremely hectic. Finals, graduations, big projects, appointments, travel, summer jobs kicking off, major holidays and celebrations... life does not slow down this time of year.

    So if you need a little more time, please message us directly. We would much rather hear from you than have you miss out because the month got away from you. And as always, if you want to re-audition with a fresh take, you are absolutely welcome to.


    Non-VA roles:

    Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out about non-voice acting opportunities. If we haven't responded yet: we are so sorry. The backlog has been real.

    Because Elsewhere Again is a small IP studio, fairness to everyone involved matters deeply to us, and we want to make sure we approach these conversations thoughtfully. We haven't forgotten you.

    From the Heart:

    On a more personal note: it genuinely warms my heart that so many of you not only know about Hemlock, but care about it.

    Hemlock started off as just a passion project in my bedroom. Through some of the hardest chapters of my life, I never let it go. Seeing it grow into something people are excited about, showing up for, investing their time and talent in... it is more than I can really put into words.

    Even if you don't end up getting cast: you are still an instrumental part of this project. Every audition, every message, every bit of support has shaped what Hemlock is becoming. So really, truly, thank you.

    One more thing:

    After our main four characters are cast, we may be looking at opening up a few additional roles. We'll share more details when we get there. Stay tuned!

  • UPDATE: Community, Socials, and Casting

    Hey everyone!!

    Quick update from us at Elsewhere Again.

    First off, thank you again for all the incredible support for Hemlock. We have been genuinely blown away by the response so far, and we are continuing to review auditions carefully as we move through the casting process.

    A few important notes:

    Our audition deadline is still May 22nd, and we are honoring that date for submissions.

    We are also starting to build out the Hemlock community side more seriously, including our Discord and social spaces, so if you want to follow along outside of CCC, you can find us at @elsewhere_agn.

    And, in addition to voice acting, we are also hoping to expand the team in other ways as we keep growing. If you are interested in helping Hemlock in a non-VA capacity, please feel free to reach out.

  • Small Website Refresh (Reference Reels)

    Hey everyone!!

    We’ve updated the website with reference reels and some tightened character direction.

    Nothing major has changed, this is just a clarity pass so the tone, pacing, and performances we’re aiming for are easier to lock into.

    Submissions are still being reviewed as they come in. Y'all are making it hard for us with how many amazing auditions there are!

    On another note, we’ve also had a few animators reach out, which has been really exciting. We’re currently putting together a more formal RFP-style document as we figure out the next phase of production.

The Vibe: The threshold guardian angel. Quick with a comeback, opinions on everything and knows everything that happens in the building because nobody notices the janitor. Under the attitude is a pure heart of gold.

Traits: Sassy, Quick-witted, Observant, Kind. Vocal References: Soy Rolis (Instagram & TikTok), Eugenio Derbez (Maximo), Bad Bunny and Cantinflas.

Register: Mid to slightly higher. Expressive, rhythmic, and quick. His sass is affection. He really only roasts people he likes. Give him dynamic range: let us hear the eye-roll, the sarcasitc gasp and the perfectly timed comeback.

The quips come fast and the kindness comes slow. When he actually cares, the attitude drops completely and he becomes simple, direct, and warm. That shift should feel effortless, like the sass was only ever there to protect the softness underneath.

The Accent: He has a Mexican Spanish accent. Keep it authentic and natural, never a caricature. Spanish words and phrases should come out the way they would in real conversation. Native speakers strongly preferred.

Brilliant Researcher, Mind Gone Astray, Former Researcher at the university.

The Vibe: The scattered genius and accidental prophet. Kooky, distractible and delightful, with flashes of the extraordinary scientist she used to be. She drifts in and out of lucidity (think Kinger from The Amazing Digital Circus) and sometimes slips into grand, almost Biblical-sounding prophecies that no one, including her, fully understands.

Traits: Brilliant, Whimsical, Fragile, Kind. Vocal References: Emma Thompson (Sybill Trelawney), Hannah Fry, Florence Pugh and Diane Morgan (Philomena Cunk).

Register: Mid, with lots of movement. Light and bright when she's foggy. Lower, slower,and focused when she's lucid. Play the kookiness sincerely, never as a joke at her expense. She is perfectly happy in her own world.

Her mind works in two modes and each switch should happen suddenly, with no warm-up, like a light flicking on or off. Foggy: chirpy and wandering. Lucid: sharp, startling, and a little frightened by its own clarity. She never seems to notice her prophecies happening. When she drifts back out of lucidity, let a tiny trace of loss show before the whimsy returns.

The Accent: British. Keep it natural and lived-in rather than posh or stylized. Let the accent move with her state of mind: quick and lilting when she's wandering, crisp and precise when she's lucid, full and sonorous when she prophesies.

Register: Mid to lower. Measured and steady, with a little warm gravel. Never rushed. He talks like a scientist reviewing a result: calm, exact and without exaggeration. He's never the loudest person in the room unless it's needed.

Play him like a dad who wants to encourage you but won't let you off easy. His toughness is never cold. It's how he shows faith. Praise is rare and short, so when it comes, let it land with real, unguarded pride. Give him dynamic range: let us hear the patient teacher, the firm push and the warmth that breaks through when he believes in you.

The Vibe: The flamboyant enigma. He waltzes into every room like he owns the place, yet he always seems out of place, as if he doesn't quite belong wherever, or whenever, he is and has decided to enjoy it anyway.

Traits: Flamboyant, Cunning, Theatrical, Unknowable. Vocal References: David Tennant (The Tenth Doctor), Robin Williams (Genie), Kenneth Branagh (Miguel), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Tim Curry (Frank-N-Furter), Brad Bird (Edna Mode), Alex Rosenthal (Caine).

Register: A mid, smooth, playful baritone as home base, but he is a vocal shapeshifter. He jumps between accents, characters, and pitches on a whim. Go big. He's a showman who treats every room as a stage, so take swings with pitch, impressions, and pacing.

The trick is that the cunning never switches off. Even at his silliest, he's watching everyone. Give him dynamic range: the grand entrance, the purring aside and then the sudden quiet.

The Accent: His default is British. Use it as a launch pad: he can slip into other accents, impressions, and characters mid-sentence, but he always comes back home. The more theatrical he gets, the more polished and flamboyant his voice becomes. The more honest he gets, the softer and plainer it sounds.

The Accent: She has a slightly noticeable Nordic/Northern European accent. Use the precise, slightly melodic cadence of the accent to play with the pacing. Beneath the icy, dry delivery, let a spark of hidden warmth and genuine emotion slip through the cracks.
