Gunnerkrigg Court Fandub - Book 1: Orientation (Part 1 of 2)
Project Overview
Hello! This is a fandub project for the webcomic series Gunnerkrigg Court by Tom Siddell.
What is Gunnerkrigg Court?
It's a really cool story about technology and magic and science and mystery and severe trauma, that always tends to answer some questions while presenting several new ones in the process, and also it's set in a UK boarding school. The plot follows a young girl named Antimony Carver and the strange things she encounters at her new school, Gunnerkrigg Court. If any of that sounds intriguing, then this project might be for you!
You can check it out here.
Whoa, that thing is like... 82 chapters and counting.
Yup! Tom Siddell does not sleep. :')
How are you going to make a fandub of all that? It seems overwhelming.
One step at a time! The title of this project is Book 1 Part 1, which will include the first 7 Chapters of the comic. I have already transcribed and written the scripts for those chapters, so it'll be a more manageable chunk to work with! If this one goes well, then I plan to continue on with Book 1 Part 2, which will cover chapters 7-14.
Wait, so you expect me to sign up for an 82+ episode project?
Haha, no my friend. (Unless you want to, which would be super dope.)
I plan to list each new Book (or on this case, Part) as its own audition page here on CCC, so if you get a role in Book 1 Part 1, you can decide whether you want to reprise your role for part 2. This way, if you want to move onto other projects afterwards, then we can just recast your role in the next listing.
Okay... so what sort of roles are you holding auditions for?
Primarily voice actors, but I definitely would love to have some more panel editors and video editors join the team as well! I have only precast one minor role to myself, but I am happy to fill in for any character voices needed, and unless some more editors sign on (pls I will bake you cookies if you do,,) I'll be doing all the editing as well!
Wait, why are you holding auditions if you're basically willing to do all this by yourself?
Because I think this will be more fun as a collaborative project! Also, I haven't made too many VA friends yet since I started my youtube channel almost a year ago. So I'm hoping to have some fun, get in some voice practice (and editing practice, and directing practice, and fandub organizing practice...), share this amazing comic with people, and make some friends along the way!
So what should I expect if I get cast in a role?
Several things! Here are some:
- All my love.
- A warm welcome to the project discord server (link will be included in CCC messages)! Including unique roles for each character, as well as category roles for our editing team!
- Before starting production on a new chapter, we will hold a read through in Voice Chat for that chapter's script. Please do your best to attend these read throughs! They'll be super fun, it's a great opportunity to clarify any questions you might have, and hopefully it will help us all stay on the same page (wink wonk).
- Deadlines for turning in work (lines/panels/etc) will be somewhat flexible, as I also work a 9-5 day job and have limited free time to dedicate to this project. TwT But I am absolutely excited to dedicate the free time that I do have to give, and I hope that you will be too!
- COMMUNICATION IS KEY!! If something comes up or you need an extension to turn in your work, please let me know! I'm happy to work with everyone's schedules to figure out what will work best for the team.
- Finished episodes will be posted on my youtube channel (teawithotome), but for the record, I don't have any plans on monetizing them. This is a labor of love.
- I plan to put a credit reel of everyone who helped work on the episode, both VAs and editors, at the end of each episode (TV show style) in addition to a listing in the description, along with any social media profile links you would like to share.
Who are you, anyway?
My name is Tea and typically I like to voice cute anime boys, but in this case I would like to voice some weird and mysterious characters of all genders and ages.
Please feel free to contact me is you have any questions about this project!

Latest Updates
-
Thank you to everyone who auditioned for this project! We're currently reviewing auditions and deciding on the cast. Since we did not receive auditions for every role, a few roles may be filled in by myself for this cycle, and I may reach out to some of you to see if you'd be interested in another part in the project. Please keep in mind that anyone who wishes to stay on as their role for further projects in this series may do so, and the roles of anyone who wishes to leave after Book 1 Part 1 will be recast in the next audition cycle. Thank you for your patience, I'm so excited to work with everyone! - Tea
This character has an English accent. She is twelve years old in Book 1. Her name is pronounced AN-tuh-moh-nee.
This character is a Lead Role, and has many lines in every chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
This character narrates the story, and has many expository lines in descriptive monologues.
This character has a line in Polish. Must be familiar with the pronunciation, or willing to learn phonetically.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- Generally, Antimony presents herself as very calm and collected, never showing fear or doubt in the face of danger. As a result of spending the first eleven years of her life in a hospital, interacting only with her parents, [...] she had virtually no opportunities to socialize with people her own age. In addition to this, her mother's illness [and father's absence] meant she had to become fairly self-sufficient and learn not to rely on adults for help. Over time, this morphed into an intense distrust of authority, which often gets her into trouble.
- Despite her upbringing, her personality begins to (very slowly) shift when she arrives at the Court and meets Kat, who quickly becomes her best friend. She is shown to be much more open and emotive around Kat, but still struggles significantly with being emotionally vulnerable.
My Notes
Annie is very logical and level headed, almost to the point of being cold. (This is very likely due to her father's influence.) She never got to mourn her mother's death properly, and is generally pretty traumatized, some of which is due to growing up in a hospital instead of a home. Despite this, she has a kind heart, even with her analytical style of thinking. After meeting Kat, she starts to loosen up a bit and take more opportunities to just be a kid.
[ One of Antimony's narrative/introductory lines. Her dry observational wit sets the tone for the story. ]
Within the first week of my attendance, I began noticing a number of strange occurrences. The most prevalent of these oddities being the fact that I seemed to have obtained a second shadow.
[ In this line, Antimony is finally breaking down her usually stoic exterior as she mourns for her dead mother. ]
(sobbing) Oh! I miss her so much! I couldn't do anything for her. I could only watch as she… She…
[ Here, Antimony is completely unperturbed after meeting a ghost, and instead is helping to give him some constructive criticism on how to be more scary. ]
Well, while I can appreciate your classic look, I don’t think anyone has been scared of the “bedsheet phantasm” ensemble for a long time.
This character has a mild Scottish accent. She is eleven years old in Book 1.
This character is a Lead Role, and has many lines in nearly every chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- In contrast to Antimony's more subdued personality, Kat is more outwardly emotional, outgoing, cheerful and friendly. She is an empathetic, caring person and like Annie, she is naturally driven to help others. She is extremely gifted at all sciences and technology, and is enthusiastic about anything related to those topics.
- [...] her loyalty to her friends can sometimes make her jump to conclusions about people.
- Her other interests include comic books, video games, tv shows and movies such as Hellboy, Metal Gear Solid, The X-Files, and Princess Mononoke. She also enjoys listening to music like Orbital, Daft Punk, and The Prodigy.
My Notes
Kat is Annie's best friend, and we get to see them meet, get to know one another, and grow closer in these first chapters of the story. Bubbly and creative, she helps thaw out Antimony's icy exterior and provides a stark and welcome contrast to Annie's unusual upbringing. Even though she is not the main protagonist of the story, she and Antimony are equally capable and balance each other out. The author has mentioned that he thinks of Kat as a "second main character, as opposed to a secondary character". She isn't the Watson to Annie's Holmes, she's the Kat to her Annie.
[ Here, Kat is brainstorming a way to make her Science Fair entry about protein crystal growth in zero gravity more eye catching. She is very passionate about it, but no one else seems to get it. ]
I know! I’ll make a bunch of cool diagrams and stuff! I’ll have pictures of vapor diffusion trays and protein cell structure and a whole bunch of crazy junk! People will have to love that![ Kat is consoling Antimony, who's still grieving for her mother. This line starts soft and ends with a bit of humor. ]
I'm lucky. I've never lost anyone I loved. I don't think I would cope as well as you. I cry about loads of stuff. I cry when I read Batman.[ In this line, Kat is gushing about their gym coach, whom she has a bit of a crush on. ]
Say, tell me more about Mr. Eglamore! What was it like being wrapped up in his arms? (giggles) Aw come on, it's not every day you find out your games teacher is some kinda big, handsome, dragon slayer guy!
This character is an Etheric being, and as such can have any accent. His name is pronounced RENNER-Deen, according to the creator of the comics.
This character is a Lead Role, and has many lines in more than half the chapters for Book 1, Part 1.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- Reynardine is an etheric [being, demon?] with the ability to possess others' bodies. He is currently imprisoned within Antimony Carver's stuffed wolf doll.
My Notes
Reynardine is extremely mischievous and conniving. The adults of the Court seem to think he's nefarious. His motives are often unclear. He plays the role of an antagonist at first, but over time warms up to both Antimony and Kat, even attempting to save Annie from danger at one point. Grandiose in speech, and sharp of wit, his lines are often used for exposition, comedic inappropriate comments, or scathing jabs at other characters. The dichotomy between his large voice and tiny body is quite comedic.
[Upon first encountering Antimony, he mistakes her for her deceased mother, Surma. His emotions here are complicated, but he seems to have cared for Surma deeply.]
Surma? Is that really you? Oh, how many years it has been…[After accidentally possessing Antimony's stuffed toy of a wolf, Reynardine is trapped in its body, and since the toy belongs to Antimony, he is now under her orders.]
Oh, don't be so melodramatic, child! I can do nothing to harm you now. In fact, I can barely do anything at all, thanks to you and your accursed toy. Look![Reynardine casually interrupts a tender moment of friendship between Annie and Kat with a comment he knows will get a rise out of them.]
Are you two going to kiss now? Because I’d be interested in watching.
This character has an English accent, with potentially a slight lilt of Castilian Spanish. Her name is pronounced AHN-yuh.
This character is a Supporting Role, and has many lines in a few chapters for Book 1, Part 1.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- Anja Donlan a science teacher at Gunnerkrigg Court. She is Kat's mother, and is married to Donald Donlan, who she met while attending Gunnerkrigg Court as a teenager. Anja was also close friends with Surma, the mother of Antimony Carver.
My Notes
Anja is soft spoken and has a caring nature. But she still knows when to rise to action, particularly in defense of others. We discover late in Part 1 that she seems to possess Etheric (magical) abilities.
[ Anja is a kind and compassionate teacher at the school, and checks in on the new transfer student, Antimony. Even though she has her own reasons for doing so, she would likely do the same with any new student. ]
Registration in ten minutes. Talk amongst yourselves until then.Antimony, dear, how have you found your first two weeks at our school?
[ Here, Anja is helping evacuate the dorms when something crashes through the roof. She remains calm, but concerned and urgent. ]
Quickly, girls. We need to evacuate the room! QN line up on the right, QS on the left. Is everyone here?[ When Antimony presents the stuffed toy that Reynardine is hiding within, Anja is immediately on alert. She seems to be able to sense the concealed abnormality of the simple toy. ]
Antimony… What is that thing? Something is not right about it…
This character has an English accent. His last name is pronounce EGG-luh-more.
This character is a Supporting Role, and has many lines in a few chapters for Book 1, Part 1.
This character has a line in Slovenian. Must be familiar with the pronunciation, or willing to learn phonetically.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- James Eglamore is a sports teacher in the Court and is a close friend of [Kat's] parents.
- [...] is evidently known as a dragon slayer.
My Notes
Jimmy Jims. Noble and brave (though a bit crass at times), he is revealed to have a secret role in the Court, and is referred to as a jailer and "dragon slayer" by Reynardine. He goes easy on Annie during gym class, praising her for standing up to Winsbury instead of punishing her for throwing him. James also saved her from being possessed by Reynardine. Despite his favoritism, Annie is still wary of him.
James seems to hold a personal grudge against Annie's father, and also possesses a pocket knife with an engraving from Surma, Annie's mother, so... there's some history there.
[ James Eglamore is a skilled fighter and has a lot of action scenes in the comic.
Give me your best exertions (sound effects like grunting, shouting, etc.) for James in the following comic pages: ]
https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=53
https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=54
https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=117[ Alerted by the alarm, James exits the school to find out what happened. This is very bad, dangerous news. James quickly gets the information he needs, and then dashes off to try and save Antimony. ]
Donlan! What’s going on out here?!Is that Carver? She left school grounds?!
[ After finding out Annie's dad has up and disappeared, James is bitter and unsurprised by this development, and seems to have some sort of grudge against him. ]
I knew something like this would happen. He’s never thought of anyone but himself. First Surma, and now his own child…
This character has a Scottish accent.
This character is a Minor Role, and has several lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
This character becomes a Supporting Role in future Books.

- Donald Donlan is the father of Katerina Donlan, husband of Anja, and best friend of Anthony Carver.
- He is a math teacher at the Court.
My Notes
We only see Donald for a brief time in Book 1 Part 1, but he helps provide some context for Antimony's missing father. He, along with Anja and James, seem to know more about the inner workings of the Court. Kat gets her inclination towards science and machines from him. He's brisk and friendly, a bit of a geek, and practically minded.
[ Donald and Anja had been looking for a way to extract Reynardine from his possession of Sivo's body. He's respectful of the loss now that Sivo is dead, but practically speaking, also relieved that they no longer have to worry about the threat of Reynardine. ]
After all these years, we’d given up hope. There was nothing we could do for him. But now that chapter of our lives is closed. Reynardine can’t hurt anyone anymore.
[ Here, Donald tries to explain to Antimony why her dad has disappeared. He's not excusing the behavior, but he - along with the other adults - has come to expect it. We get the sense here that Donald may know exactly how Annie feels, even if he doesn't like to dwell on it. ]
You see, when we were younger, your father had a habit of taking off on his own. Sometimes for months on end, without telling anyone.
[ Despite the solemn circumstances, Annie's defiant attitude seems to amuse him after she leaves. An attempt to see the silver lining. ]
Well, that was unexpected. It’s as if Surma has come back to us.
This character is from Birmingham. She is eleven years old in Book 1.
This character is a Minor Role, and has several lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
This character becomes a Supporting Role in future Books.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- [Zimmy] has a generally grumpy attitude, displaying a short temper and a general disdain for those around her, with the notable exception of Gamma, and, later on, Antimony Carver as well. In general, she tends to avoid other people, and doesn't like to be watched.
- She has also been shown to have a mischievous, if somewhat dark, sense of humour. She speaks with a broken Birmingham accent and has a tendency to swear more than the other characters.
My Notes
Zimmy is remarkably weird, even by Gunnerkrigg standards. We learn more about her in future Books, but for the sake of Book 1 Part 1, she's presented as cranky, confrontational, and in a more subtle sense, quite bitter and jaded for her age. Something is up with her.
[ Zimmy has reasons she may not be able to trust her memory, and this line shows her general wariness and dislike for other people. (The misspelling of Antimony's name in this audition line is intentional.) ]
Hey I know you! Yer that new girl… Amtinomy, right? Yeah, that’s it.
[ Zimmy confronts a hidden Reynardine. This is not the first time she's had to convince others of an unseen enemy, which might lend to her sounding a bit paranoid here. ]
Come out, you little git! I know yer in there!
[ Zimmy may like to pick fights, but she also knows when to pick her battles. She disengages and leaves before Annie can make things right about a misunderstanding. ]
Whatever. I don't need yer apologies. I've 'ad enough of this.
This character's line is in Polish. Please be familiar with pronunciation or be willing to learn phonetically.
This character is an Extra Role, and has one line in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
This character becomes a Supporting Role in future Books.
Although this is a Polish speaking part, English fluency is required for communication with the team. Thank you for understanding.
This character speaks both Polish and English in future Books.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- Gamma Czarnecki is a student at Gunnerkrigg Court, and is Zimmy's best friend. She's Polish and does not speak English, which leaves her unable to communicate with most of the other students. She is one year older than the rest of her class.
My Notes
Soft spoken and level headed, Gamma has a special connection with Zimmy (which is touched on more in later Books). She helps keep Zimmy grounded by her presence alone, and is seemingly critical of Zimmy's brash behavioir.
[ Gamma quietly chastises Zimmy by calling her stupid. ]
Glupie…
[ Give me a few embarrassed noises. ]
This character has an English Accent. He is in the same class as Antimony.
This character is a Minor Role, and has a few lines in three chapters for Book 1, Part 1.
Winsbury is the bully of the group, but most of it is verbal and for show. He's more a nuisance than anything serious. In later Books, he grows out of his antics for the most part and becomes a part of his class' general friend group.
He also has a softer, more romantic side, as he's in a secret relationship with Janet. They disguise it by pretending to be antagonistic towards each other in front of others.
[ William has stolen a basketball away from Kat during gym, and refuses to give it back. This is as close to physical bullying as he gets. ]
Why should I? It’s mine now.
So what are you gonna do about it?
[ Winsbury is a little gremlin. Here he's laughing at his own joke, and then sulking when no one laughs. ]
Gehehehe… Hmph.
[ In defense of Kat, Annie grabs Winsbury by the wrist and comically sends him sailing across the gym floor. ]
WAAH! Oof! What the…?!
This character has a Welsh accent. She is in the same class as Antimony.
This character is a Minor Role, and has a few lines in two chapters for Book 1, Part 1.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
Janet Llanwellyn is a student at Gunnerkrigg Court and is also the daughter of the Headmaster. She speaks in a formal, old-fashioned manner, and has something of a quick temper and is difficult to scare (as Mort, to his dismay, finds out). [...] she is carrying on a secret romance with William Winsbury.
[ When Mort the ghost tries to scare Janet, she proves to the invisible annoyance that he picked the wrong target. ]
Is that all ye got, blaggard?! Would thou wert clean enough to spit upon!
[ Talking loudly to be heard through the door, Janet and William are faking an argument to conceal their secret rendezvous. ]
That is your most ridiculous idea yet!
This grows tiresome, Winsbury.
[ Finally alone, Janet reveals her hidden romantic nature. This should be a total tone shift from her usual brusque demeanor. ]
Oh, dearest William!
This character's lines are mostly in Spanish. Please be familiar with pronunciation or be willing to learn phonetically. She is eleven years old in Book 1. Her name is pronounced PATH.

Although this is a Spanish speaking part, English fluency is required for communication with the team. Thank you for understanding.
This character speaks both Spanish and English in future Books.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
- Paz has been characterized as an idealistic, brave, excitable and resourceful girl.
My Notes
For the sake of Book 1 Part 1, Paz is a shy and kind hearted girl who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her limelight moment here is in getting scared by Mort the ghost with a creepy illusion of clown animatronics. Poor Paz.
[ Paz, like Antimony, is surprised to find the door is missing in the hallway. The beginning of Mort's spooky illusion. ]
¡Oh! ¿Pero, dónde está la puerta?
[ Paz comes across the creepy circus illusion, full of eyeless animatronic clowns. She tentatively checks if anyone else is around. ]
(tentatively) ¿Hola? ... Hello?
[ Give me your best terrified scream. ]
¡AAAYYYYYYY!
This character has an English accent. He is in the same class as Antimony.
This character is an Extra Role, and has a couple of lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
This character becomes a Minor Role in future Books.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
John Sullivan [...] is a student at Gunnerkrigg Court. He appears occasionally throughout the comic, usually in a classroom or school setting.
My Notes
John comes off as a pretty regular guy. We find out later that he likes music and plays the guitar. In Book 1 Part 1, John appears in a bonus page of the comic, warning another classmate that Janet and William are fighting again.
[ John is a bit nervous here, trying to warn Margo, and save her the time of investigating all the shouting. ]
Uh… You don't want to go in there, Margo.
[ This is not the first time this has happened. Since William and Janet are part of a group project with them, this poses a problem for John and Margo. ]
Winsbury and Janet are fighting again.
This character has an English accent. She is in the same class as Antimony.
This character is an Extra Role, and has a couple of lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
This character becomes a Minor Role in future Books.
Personality (taken from the Gunnerkrigg wiki, with a few minor edits for spoiler reasons)
Margo is a student in Antimony's year at Gunnerkrigg Court. She is not known to have any sort of special powers, but she does have an interest in drawing and singing.
My Notes
Margo comes off as a pretty regular gal. In Book 1 Part 1, Margo appears in a bonus page of the comic, commiserating with another classmate about Janet and William's fighting..
[ Here, Margo is disheartened and exasperated (though not surprised) to find out Janet and William are fighting again. ]
Again?! We'll never get our group work done like this.
[ Margo pragmatically suggests that she and John go work on their group project themselves. ]
Let's go somewhere else without them.
This character has an English accent.
This character is an Extra Role, and has a couple of lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
A strict and stuffy teacher in the Court. He is only seen in the very first chapter.
[ It's forbidden for students to leave the Court. Upon finding Antimony outside on the stairs leading to the bridge, he questions why she's out there. ]
Miss Carver. What are you doing out here?
[ He may not believe Antimony's excuse of being lost. But he doesn't seem to care enough to investigate. ]
Yes, well. Come along now. Evening classes are about to begin.
This character has an English accent.
This character is an Extra Role, and has a couple of lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
A droning, boring teacher in the Court, who's class covers Mythology. He is only seen in the second chapter.
[ Give me the most boring, droning take you can for these audition lines. The entire class is asleep during this. ]
And that concludes a brief exposition on the creation of mythology.
Before you go, I have some homework for you.
I want you all to go away in pairs and find as much information as you can on a mythical figure of your choice.
This character has an English accent.
This character is a Minor Role, and has a few lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
A judge for the school Science Fair. Formal and professional, but he gets very excited about Kat's experiment.
[ Professional and pulled together. ]
And finally, what do you have for us, young Donlan?
[ Completely shocked. A 180 from his previous attitude, this should come off as comedic. ]
WHAT?! You made a gravity field generator?
[ Very, very excited over Kat's experiment. He's probably never encountered such a project in all his years of teaching. ]
It’s decided then! Class 7QN’s entrant in the Year 7 Science Fair will be Katerina’s zero gravity generator! Oh my, how exciting!
This character is a robot, and can have any accent.
This character is a Minor Role, and has several lines in two chapters for Book 1, Part 1.
This character becomes a Supporting Role in future Books.
A robot that Antimony builds in order to help Shadow 2 get across the bridge to Gillitie Wood. Robot has a rather friendly and polite personality (if Robots can have personalities), and is happy to help Antimony with her task. He refers to Antimony as Mommy, due to her "giving him life".
[ Robot's first words upon being built and activated by Antimony. She apologizes for not being able to find his other arm piece in the box of spare parts, but we see that Robot is very agreeable and simply happy to be useful. ]
Why, hello there! Thank you for putting me back together!
Not to worry! You did a good job!
[ During Robot's journey across the bridge, he makes small talk with Shadow 2, even through Shadow 2 isn't capable of speech. This is slightly comical, but mostly endearing. ]
Such a nice evening!
Never fear, little guy. I have this under control!
[ Later, when Robot returns across the bridge, something seems off about him. This line should sound a little strange from his usual friendly tone. ]
Oh! So this is Reynardine? Well now, this makes things much easier!
This character is a Minor Role, and has several lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
This character becomes a Supporting Role in later Books.
While walking down the hall one day, Antimony comes across a ghost named Mort. She attempts to help him get better at scaring people, as his attempt to scare her is pretty pitiful. Mort has little confidence when it comes to scaring people, but is very eager to try and get it right. Even though he's a ghost he's not very scary at all, and is very expressive and unintentionally humorous. He comes across as an average young lad.
[ Mort's entrance. He goes for the classic stereotypical ghost bit. Think cheesy old horror movies. When his attempt doesn't work, he breaks character, exasperated. ]
WOOOOOOOO!
I’m a ghost! Aren’t you scared?!
[ When Mort's scaring attempt fails, he first looks for constructive criticism. ]
Ugh, I’m so bad at this. So what was I doing wrong? Is it the way I look?
[ Having scared someone successfully, Mort's mood has completely turned around from earlier. ]
Haw! Did you see her run?!
Thanks a bunch, Annie.
This character is a Minor Role, and has several lines in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
Antimony and Kat discover that The Minotaur lives deep within a secret passage in the school library, but despite his intimidating appearance he turns out to be a pretty friendly guy. They present him as their mythology homework. A comedic role.
[ Basil tries to scare the girls upon first meeting them. Give me your best comedic shout. ]
BLAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
[ When Basil finds out Annie and Kat aren't any harm, he drops his grand, scary act. ]
Phew, you girls gave me a fright, sneaking around like that.
[ During Antimony and Kat's presentation, Basil tells an anecdote about his side of the story of Theseus. Narration, almost like a witty children's book. ]
See, when I was young, it was hard to meet people my own age, being stuck in the middle of a giant death maze and all. So my mum - that’s Pasiphae - arranged a party for my birthday.
This character's line is in Spanish. Please be familiar with pronunciation or be willing to learn phonetically.
This character is an Extra Role, and has one line in one chapter for Book 1, Part 1.
Although this is a Spanish speaking part, English fluency is required for communication with the team. Thank you for understanding.
This creepy clown is an illusion created by Mort the ghost, in an attempt to scare one of Antimony's classmates, Paz. (The z is pronounced like TH.) Since Paz speaks Spanish, the clown also speaks Spanish to be able to deliver his creepy dialogue with full comprehension.
[ This is the clown's creepy line to scare Paz. He compliments her eyes and then asks if she'll give them to him. ]
Qué ojos tan lindos tienes… Paz. ¿Me los darás?
Extras for crowd scenes, classroom scenes, etc.
[ Improvise some dialogue for a classroom scene. ]
[ Improvise some dialogue for a science fair. ]
I'm also looking for a few more people to help out with video editing (my least favorite part of the process, haha), since I only have the bare basics of video editing under my belt. But I wouldn't ask you to do anything that I'm not willing to do myself! Just looking for an extra few pairs of hands to help the work get done more efficiently.
The process doesn't have to be anything too complicated, just properly timing the voice lines to the footage and simple fades between the pre-edited panels would do the trick! (But if you do have any fancy transitions or cool effects you'd like to show off, I'd love to see it.)
For your audition, you can showcase up to 3 examples of prior video editing work you've done, especially slideshow-style/transition focused (or even preferably comic fandub video editing).
Say something you think would fit
To get the comic ready to edit into video format, the panels of the comic first need to be prepared! This process simply involves using any standard art program to save several versions of the panel with any speech bubbles blanked out and then revealing the text piece by piece to simulate a storybook feel. Sometimes certain elements of the panel need to be isolated, but that's about as complicated as it gets.
I'm happy to give examples/tutorials on what to do, as I will also be editing panels myself, but every extra pair of hands helps in a project like this!
For your audition, you can showcase up to 3 examples of prior comic/digital art editing work (or even preferably other comic fandub work).
