The End of Evangelion is the film conclusion to the 1995 anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion by Hideaki Anno. The film served as a replacement/accompanying feature to the last two episodes of the anime in response to fan distaste towards the conclusion's presentation in said episodes, amidst some suggestion that the ending may have been limited due to budgeting issues. The series and movie are known for their commentary on mental illness, overindulgence, and the nature of human connection.
What is this project?
The intention behind this project is little more than a for fun recreation of the film's climax, and potentially* the film in its entirety. This would include sourcing fan voices, resounding the film and covering the familiar tune of Komm, süßer Tod. In addition, assuming the willingness of those involved, small future Evangelion dubbing projects would be similarly pursued. (Joke videos, comics, other material, etc.) Dialogue direction will generally follow the original subs and dub, but liberties are likely to be taken in order to naturalize speech and try to match the core intentions of the Japanese writing.
* A few characters in the film are not listed as they are not involved in the section I intend to prioritize. However, they will be requested at a later date assuming the entire film will be dubbed.
Voice roles - Voices do not need to mimic either prior renditions of the characters! All I ask is that you give them the voice you confidently feel fits their character, regardless of what others prior have done. If you would like to follow past renditions you're welcome to, but it is far from a requisite. My biggest ask is a strong delivery and conveyal of emotion to match the dramatic nature.
This should come as no surprise, but the project will include heavy spoilers for the series. I would recommend viewing it for yourself prior to any auditions.

A huge aspect of this project would be to do a full cover of Komm, süßer Tod. Though it would preferably be a female role, it's flexible in that a strong male performance could be welcome given an impressive show, though this would be admittedly highly unlikely. An original instrumental will be prepared for this cover as well.

The first child and a character shrouded in mystery, Rei Ayanami is an emotionally and socially disconnected girl with a notably quiet and reserved voice. Being often viewed as "a doll" by others, she shows no clear emotions in her presentation. She's very matter of fact in a soft-spoken way.
NOTE: If you're auditioning for Rei, I'd very much appreciate a take for Yui Ikari as well in a similar, more aged vocal direction. Thank you!

The second child, Asuka, is an incredibly hot-headed and borderline abusive girl with an intense ego and seemingly endless pride. The depth of her insecurities are hidden behind a standoff-ish personality, leading to her resolve easily crumbling in the face of failure.

Misato is a questionably fit motherly figure of sorts who carries a natural charm and energetic outlook towards the world around her. Her position in NERV gives her command over most all military operations. She's known to drown out her troubles in alcohol and other activities.
If you're expecting me to be sympathetic then forget it. If all you want is to avoid pain and heartbreak then just curl up and die.
You hate yourself, don't you? That's the reason you bring others pain. You do it because you know it hurts you far more than it could ever hurt them. But no matter what, everything will be the result of your own decisions, Shinji.

Gendo Ikari is the father of Shinji, head of NERV and a man carrying questionable intentions. Being a neglectful father and holding a dream of reuniting with his deceased wife, his actions set the world on course for the instrumentality of mankind. His demeaner is calm, calculated and scary. What he conveys is done with few words.
Humanity must advance to a new world. The EVA series will allow for that.

Ritsuko is NERV's head scientist. Her deceased mother held her same position prior, holding romantic involvement with Gendo. A college friend of Misato and Kaji, the others at NERV are no stranger to her.

Kaworu is the fifth child and the sixteenth angel. He is very charming and matter of fact, with a taste of sly attitude. He holds an affinity for Shinji and humanity as a whole.

KEEP IN MIND: The majority of what's needed for these extras is a sensual moaning of sorts. The MAGI voice and instrumentality voices need not require this, but it's needed for the mass production EVA and background of the instrumentality stream. If you're comfortable with this, please make that clear alongside your audition.
