Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers '96 is the unofficial fourth season of Mighty Morphin' never told. A proper finale for the original "six teenagers with attitude," creatively revamped from visor-to-morpher by a fresh, bold, and totally morphinominal vision.

In MMPR '96, Katherine Hillard's ultimate destiny is revealed as the Pink Ronin, a hardened warrior vowed to avenge her fallen comrades against the evil, enigmatic ruler of all worlds, Lord Drakkon. However, Drakkon's ambitions extend far beyond even her worst imaginings. Only by re-discovering the value of trust and forgiving sins past, can she hope to aid the last Rangers--including her younger self-- that stand between Drakkon and his plans for complete multiverse domination.

The goal behind MMPR '96 is to create a professional cinematic audio drama, with a fresh story that cherry-picks concepts and canon from both the original show and Boom comics infused with my own creative re-interpretations of what Power Rangers is, has been, and should be in the year 2025. A complete deconstruction of the world and its characters, merged with deep, thematic symbolism and complex character arcs that span across an epic saga.

MMPR '96 is produced and written exclusively by me, with licensed music & sound effects from Boom Library, Soundmorph, Krotos Studio, Bluezone Corporation, & Epidemic Sound. I'm looking for dedicated voice actors seeking unique, engaging, and challenging material to tackle that they would be more than proud to highlight on their voice over resumes.

    Heyo!


    The Discord hack ended as swiftly as it started.


    Anywho, been too locked in to report back here with grinding out the new second scene for the Episode 1 Remake starring Kat and Billy below, with cameos from the other O6 in the background in what turned out to be a entire 7 min scene of it's own (that will be spun out as it's own future standalone for teaser/marketing purposes).

    Working on both these at-the-same-time was a super intensive, almost seemingly unending grind--but now that they're both "finished," I can take a much deserved breath and get back to picking up casting duties here.


    There's still a lot of auditions I haven't listened to yet on this page, so I will start filing through those shortly.


    With my attention now on getting casting back on-track, I will be working on a comprehensive Production Bible that will try covering every potential Q&A I can possibly think of--so everyone can expect that to be dropped with the next update, with hopefully Scene 3 of E1.

  • Discord Hack

    Hey everyone!


    Emergency note that my Discord somehow got hacked earlier today, so if you received a message from me spamming you with crypto junk---IT ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT ME!


    Unfortunately this happened while I was sleeping, so I didn't catch it while whoever was on their little spree so Discord ended up locking the account out after incurring two community strikes.


    Currently cannot DM anyone (even in the server) until the 1st of June (I think?), so I'm trying to now go through and undo what damage the scammer did with their spam and turning a lot of people off ignore and having their profiles hidden.

    Sorry to anyone effected negatively by this. I do not understand how the account was possibly hacked, but I've enabled 2FA to ensure this does not ever happen again.

    Today, I'm more than thrilled to finally announce that MMPR'96 has crowned the voice for its King purveyor of stylin' Hip Hop-Kido Black Ranger funk, Trey "Smeyton" Smith as Zachary Taylor!

    With his original CCC line submissions for Zack all the way back in November 2024 (honorable mentions for his Jason and Tommy ones too!), right from the jump Smeyton made an extremely strong impression on me--much like Alice Irvin's Kimberly Ann Hart, and mcb020's Trini Kwan.




    Which, fittingly enough--I wound up nominating all three for their then-potential characters in a "if I were casting today...." blog post at-the-time, so I think that in itself wound up being quite the telling premonition for how casting those characters has ultimately unfolded...





    Even as inexperienced as I was with evaluating voice acting back then--Smeyton's CCC audition for Zack was doubly impressive--both for capturing the quintessential sense of slick energy and flair Walter Jones originally brought to Zachary, but even more for the fact the audition lines featured were extremely brief surface-level snippets from the E1 Juice Bar scene, which demonstrated Smeyton's sublime ability to take such sparse lines and inject them with such a natural and effortless, ear-catching swagger.




    It was immediately noteworthy to me, practically mirroring verbatim how mcb020 instantly impressed me considering she was in the same barebone lines boat.




    So, I was always super duper interested in hearing Smeyton perform the more advanced material for Zack....but it just wound up taking a supremely long time--both from the months it took me to compose the extended audition itself...to a bit of memory lapse from Smeyton in regards to being sent the script to record for.




    Nevertheless, once his recording was in and edited, I found my hunch from all the months prior fully validated with Smeyton's marvelous ability to capture the full duality of Zack's character--from both the trademark, eccentric charm, to the more serious side that makes him a debatable rival to Jason as potential leader-man of the team.




    Absolutely couldn't be happier to add Smeyton to the team--which raises our official casting count to 8, and now 4 Rangers strong!

    Hello everyone! Too long, no words from me!


    First off, I would like to say I've 98% caught up on all submitted VA auditions. If you've seen you have been dismissed, it's most likely because


    1)microphone/environmental acoustic inadequacies

    2)not the right aesthetic vocal quality for given character

    3)inadequate acting experience for given character.

    In other news, I'm extremely thrilled to announce that I've decided to cast the amazing Amelia Bridget as everyone's favorite drug lord space pirate, Divatox!

    From time to time I have a fondness for saying--when it comes to casting--I look for someone to take ownership over the character, and Amelia might very well be the best encapsulation of that I've had the distinct pleasure of listening to so far on this audio drama makin' journey.




    I mean, quite literally in this case of RNG popping in on CCC, and mic dropping the entire Divatox audition script (along with Rita's). I first remember thinking "Oh no--you weren't suppose to do the whole script yet--that was just provided for context," but as I listened that panic quickly subdued into "Oh wow--that's really, really good!"





    But even then, it didn't really hit me just how crazy good her read was, until I assembled the proper mock-up a few months later and edited it together. Now backed by a draft with music and sound effects, her performance took on a whole new, vigorous life of it's own.




    With only a script--no mock-no direction--she crafted an absolutely killer and consistent one-take wonder of a performance--with all sorts of fine-line, subtle mannerisms and pronunciation stresses sprinkled throughout at just the right spots.




    I mean, I went monologue wild with this scene, but Amelia so effortlessly knocked every word of it out the park. Casting her has absolutely been a no brainer to me...but even with all that, I decided to be patient before making a decision because 1)she also was auditioning for Rita, 2) out of curiosity I wanted to see if there was another competitive take out there that offered something more in the vein of the original actress Hilary Shepard Smith's style/tone of voice, and 3)There was another character I'm convinced she could absolutely slaughter if I felt it was necessary.




    But a couple weeks ago as I re-evaluated where auditions currently stood across-the-board, I simply realized Amelia was absolutely the perfect choice to play my reimagined and far more controversial "Queen of the Pirates," and I couldn't be happier to let her VIVA LA DIVA! it up in the future as the main antagonist witch in the future Promethea Pink arc and beyond!



    So, with the addition of Amelia, MMPR'96's current cast consist of 2 Rangers (White and Yellow), 1 Ex-Ranger (everyone's favorite Pink Ranger except mine, Kimbo), two fem fatal Evil Space Aliens, and one extremely petty and arrogant talking Tiger Sword.



    So...who's going to be next?

As the fresh rookie on the Mighty Morphin' team, Katherine Hillard finds herself not just battling the usual monsters and aliens of-the-week, but her own imposter syndrome over the seemingly impossible task of replacing the legendary Kimberly Hart. Between navigating Ranger duties with her own complicated feelings for Kimberly's ex, and visions of a nightmarish world haunting her dreams, Kat finds herself quickly thrusted as the central key figure that may help decide the ultimate fate of not just the Rangers, but their reality.


For in another one conquered by the mysterious Lord Drakkon, Pink Ronin stands as the last survivor of Zordan's legacy, fueled by vengeance to kill Drakkon for his unfathomable atrocities...

Even more so when him and Trini are recruited by the Blue Emissary to spearhead intergalactic rescue missions saving so-called "Empowered" individuals who are being hunted down by nefarious forces, where his newfound loneliness from missing Emily leads to Jason finding a potentially even greater comfort with Trini...

Hatred has been the defining emotion Rita has known for the majority of her life--hatred of Zedd for banishing her from her rightful place at the Eltarian throne, and hatred of Zordon for entrapping her in his Reformation cube for over ten thousand years--where she was forced to live simulated lives of all her past victims, falling in love and having children, only to suffer at the horror of watching them being brutally killed by herself again and again.


Yet her hatred always persisted, and now that Lord Zedd's final gambit against the Rangers has cost him his cosmic powers, and the Eltarian Empire's throne has been seized by her father's twisted machinations, Rita is finally poised to extract her personal style of revenge on Zordon and his Ranger children, no longer burdened by the shackles of Zedd's foolish honorable rules of engagement...

For Goldar, a blood oath is a blood oath and must be honored--even if honoring it meant cleaving his own rebellious Titan brother's head off at the sadistic command of the all-mighty Eltarian Emperor, Lord Zedd. 


However, after Zedd's latest gambit against the Power Rangers cost him his cosmic powers, Goldar travels with Zedd as his only remaining ally across the galaxy to revive Eltar's greatest warrior to defeat the Rangers once-and-for-all--the Supreme Commander Zolphram...Lord Zedd's former self.

1. Recap theme: A Recap theme that can be a variation of the MMPR theme, but different enough to not dilute the impact of the actual Intro theme song.


2. Intro: Currently, I'm not actively seeking an Intro theme, as I feel pretty fine with sticking with the OG Ron Wasserman version as is (First 20 seconds being the TV theme, with the remainder being spliced from Wasserman's 2012 Redux Remaster). My current WIP of it can be viewed below.

3. "Earcatchers': Bumpers for the "commercial break" at the half-way point in each episode, just like Sentai and various other anime.

4. Power Playback/PSA/Marketing Segments: Now, this is probably the most ambitious/asking musical contribution, but I would like each episode to feature a segment about 1 min to 90 seconds paying direct homage to the original TV show, recreating its most memorable segments (particularly from Season 1) with the MMPR '96 cast (though not canon to MMPR '96 story itself).Given the homage nature, I would like the classic mickey-mousing of the musical bits recreated as-faithfully-as-possible to perfectly compliment the tributes to the Original Show these scenes are meant to be.

Outro: I'm looking for a proper Outro/Credits theme that is a loose reprisal of the MMPR theme (like in the original show in the example below), but this one is way more open to creative re-interpretation/modernization, not to mention will have to be longer given the natural differences behind the act of production crediting in audio versus the fast scrolling of visual media.
