DUSK - A Supernatural Mystery

Project Overview

DUSK is a modern fantasy supernatural mystery set in the late 90s where fantastical magic is slowly becoming obsolete as technology continues to develop and the world becomes a little less wild. The story follows an investigator as he is sent to a small old mining town where six paranormal agents have gone missing. What starts off as a simple missing persons case turns into something stranger.

This started out as an idea for a web comic before I changed it to the audio drama format after the many, many times of hearing lots of people I've met express their wants to try to voice act. So I thought I would do my best and give people that opportunity to get themselves started.

This is a passion project of mine, I am the sole artist, audio engineer, writer, director and general creative mind behind this project but it stems from a love for weird small towns, detective fiction, rural folklore, psychological horror and the lost feeling of a lifestyle that doesn't quite exist anymore. And I'm hoping anyone with a love for those types of stories would like to be part of this.


The important stuff for auditions and if people get the job.

  • I'm allowing two different reads of each line in either AABBCC or ABCABC.

  • There are associated accents with characters but they're not preferred. I just didn't want to specifically only have "All English accents" as the only option. For the most part, they're just the ones I pictured in my head. I would much rather have a character be read with amazing delivery than a one to one accent.

  • I like to voice direct with actors over a call, it allows for me to get the most out of you while giving live feedback. If you think you would do better while recording on your own, I will do my best to accommodate that.

  • If something isn't clear in this or you would like more insight on a character, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as quick as I can.

    Hi, my name's Ty. I wanna say a huge thank you to everyone who has already submitted an audition. I didn't think people would turn up to this project the way you all did, and with that I have to give a giant thank you. You've all given voices to characters I've been sketching up for a few months now and I couldn't be happier.

    I've been going through the submissions so far and it has been nothing but exciting. However it is also a lot of work. Originally I had planned on having the due date be at the end of the month but to save me time and some effort, I'm pushing forward the submission date to the 20th of November. I hope that should still give you plenty of time to get a submission in while I go through the rest of the auditions.

Nessa Quill is a young, quick-witted girl and DUSK's resident communications specialist. Clever, sarcastic, and unapologetically mischievous, she loves teasing her colleagues and deliberately pushing boundaries just to get a reaction. Her fast-paced, often rambling speech and irreverent sense of humor disguise a highly capable technician who genuinely cares about her team. Despite her rebellious attitude, Nessa is optimistic, dependable, and remarkably resourceful when things go wrong.

Seeking a youthful, expressive voice with an energetic conversational delivery. Nessa frequently speaks in run-on sentences, interrupts herself, and jumps between thoughts, but should never sound unintelligent or cartoonishly hyperactive.

Nessa, more than the other characters, is the secondary POV character to the story. A lot of the mystery surrounds the various tape recordings she makes.

  • There's a remarkable difference between working independently and refusing to cooperate. I'm beginning to suspect no one's explained that to you.
