Duck Detective - Indie Game Casting (paid)
Project Overview
Hi everyone,
I'm Annika from Happy Broccoli Games and we're opening auditions for our newest game: Duck Detective: the Secret Salami!
This is a paid opportunity, we'll offer 3 USD per line. The game is short and has a word count of about 6000 words.
Solving crime is no walk in the pond. You are a down-on-his-luck detective who also happens to be a duck. Use your powers of de-duck-tion to inspect evidence, fill in the blanks, and bust the case wide open, in a narrative mystery adventure where nothing is quite as it seems.
No one likes a thief. But the worst kind of thief? A lunch thief! Join the Duck Detective on his latest greatest case:
Interview the surprisingly eccentric employees of the BearBus Customer Services
Investigate the missing lunches - find out what’s been going down
Judge everyone on first impressions, just by looking at them really, really hard! Get them to admit things by staring! Do ducks blink? You don’t.
In general we're looking for a bit over-the-top cartoon direction, with occasional animal sounds, when they get very emotional (like in Bojack Horseman for example).
The game is set in a world inspired by Germany, but we're not looking for specific accents (except for the Sheep and Buffalo characters).
Please only audition if you have a professional set up.

Freddy is an oblivious crocodile, who gets on the nerves of his coworkers. He steals other people's mugs and never brings them back to the kitchen. He is a huge fan of the Duck Detective. (We want a nerdy, nervous voice for him)

- Duck :) = Do you have any idea who picked me to investigate?
- Croc :D = *He chuckles.
- Croc :D = No idea, but I'm so happy you're here!!
- Croc :D = I have a copy of your book "The early bird catches the criminal"!
- Croc :D = Can you sign it?!
- Duck :( = *He sighs.
- Duck :( = I... Yeah, I guess so.
- Croc :D = WOOOHHH!!

Laura is an anxious cat that is a complete workaholic. The whole of BearBuses customer service rests on her shoulders and additionally she studies for an online degree on the side. Her addiction to energy drinks isn't helping her mental and physical health either. (We're looking for a cute, high pitched voice. When she speaks to the customer, her voice should be calm and professional, but turns shrill when the Detective is trying to distract her from work)
Audition lines (the Duck is just for context):
- Duck :) = Can you tell me more about Freddy Frederson?
- Cat :) (to customer) = Let me put you on hold, while I find the route for you.
- Cat >:( = FREDDY?!?
- Cat >:( = He gets paid more than me, can you imagine that?!
- Cat >:( = What an incompetent waste of office space!!
- Cat :) (to customer) = Hello, this is Laura again. I checked the bus routes and found that...-

- Cat :( = JUST LET ME BE IN PEACE!!
- Duck :) = So... you have no clues for me?
- Cat >:( = GAHHHH!!! (turns into a cat scream)

Manfred is a seemingly intimidating bear. He cares a lot about his family and is quite soft on the inside. Despite him being a tough boss, he is popular with the BearBus workers. (We want a deep growling voice for him)

- Bear :) = Who are you?!
- Bear >:( = Do you have a problem?!
- Bear >:( = f you have one, just call our damn hotline!
- Duck :) = I'm Eugene McQuacklin, the Duck Detective.
- Duck :) = A client hired me to investigate a case.
- Bear >:( = .....
- Bear :D = Why didn't you just say so?
- Bear :) = It's time we put an end to the awful lunch theft.

Rufus is a grumpy janitor who dislikes young people. He feels underappreciated and disrespected! He's a big sci-fi geek and even writes his own novels. (We're looking for a deep, raspy voice)

- Penguin >:( = Dishwasher's broken again.
- Penguin >:( = What's wrong with these youngsters?!
- Penguin >:( = Don't know how to treat things with respect.
- Penguin :) = Maybe I should leave the dishwasher broken for a bit.
- Penguin :) = That'll teach them a lesson!

Margaret the sheep loves gossip and taking care of people at the office. She doesn't look it, but she's very much into true crime shows. (We're looking for a bit older, motherly voice. A British English accent is welcome, but not required)

- Duck :) = I'm Eugene McQuacklin, detective, and I need to ask some questions.
- Sheep :D = A detective? How exciting!
- Sheep :D = What's the most gruesome murder you saw?
- Sheep :D = How many dead bodies have you seen??
- Sheep :) = To be honest, everyone was quite shocked by the lunch theft.
- Sheep :( = And no one told me they've called a detective!
- Sheep :( (panicking) = I don't know what's going on at all!!

Boris is a quiet Buffalo who is a bus driver for BearBus. He likes to stick to himself, spending all his breaks outdoors, just so he doesn't have to talk to anyone. (We're looking for a deep, slow voice. Eastern European accent is welcome, but not required)

- Duck :) = What do you know about Rufus Sederis?
- Buffalo :( = I don't think he likes me very much, to be honest.
- Buffalo :( = But then... doesn't feel like he likes anyone at this office.

- Buffalo :O = Do you think they have a thing going on?!
- Duck :) = I don't work here.
