Barathrum
Project Overview
BARATHRUM - Psychological Deep-Ocean Horror
An indie survival horror game by On Call Interactive.
The deeper you descend, the less you understand.
About the Game
BARATHRUM is an atmospheric, psychological survival horror game set in the unexplored depths of Earth's oceans.
Players operate a deep-sea submersible, descending into an increasingly hostile environment where isolation, crushing pressure, failing equipment and the fear of the unknown become their greatest threats.
Inspired by real world oceanography and the mysteries of deep-sea exploration, BARATHRUM explores one of humanity's most primal fears: what might exist in the darkness beneath us?
At the heart of the story is the fictional Barathrum Deep — a newly discovered oceanic chasm with no confirmed bottom. Scientific expeditions have failed to determine its depth, and increasingly disturbing discoveries suggest there may be more beneath the surface than anyone anticipated.
About This Casting Call
We are seeking a talented voice actor to narrate the game's opening cinematic.
This cinematic is designed to introduce players to the immense scale of the ocean, beginning with genuine scientific facts before transitioning into the unsettling discovery of the Barathrum Deep.
We're looking for a performance that feels like a high-quality nature documentary; believable, intelligent and authoritative, while gradually building an atmosphere of uncertainty and dread.
The horror shouldn't come from a frightening voice. It should come from how convincingly the story is told.
This is a paid opportunity, with compensation and commercial usage terms to be agreed upon before production.
About On Call Interactive
On Call Interactive is an independent Australian game development studio focused on creating immersive, memorable gaming experiences.
With BARATHRUM, we're placing particular emphasis on atmosphere, environmental storytelling and sound design to create a horror experience that stays with players long after they've stopped playing.
We're excited to collaborate with a passionate voice actor who can help bring this world to life.
Thank you for considering being part of BARATHRUM.
We are seeking a talented male voice actor to narrate the opening cinematic for BARATHRUM, an atmospheric deep-ocean psychological survival horror game developed by On Call Interactive.
The cinematic begins as an authentic scientific documentary, exploring the vastness of Earth's oceans and the extreme depths of the Mariana Trench. As the narration progresses, it gradually reveals the fictional discovery of the Barathrum Deep — an unexplored oceanic chasm with no confirmed bottom.
The Voice We're Looking For
A mature, deep, rich and authoritative male voice, preferably with a refined British accent. Think high-end nature documentary narration with the cinematic presence of a psychological horror film.
The performance should begin with genuine scientific curiosity and wonder, gradually transitioning into subtle unease and restrained dread.
We are NOT looking for exaggerated horror acting, artificial whispering or a stereotypical movie-trailer voice.
The narrator should sound intelligent, believable and composed throughout. The horror comes from the information being presented, not from an intentionally frightening performance.
Role Details
Approximately 90–110 seconds of final narration.
Remote recording with professional-quality equipment.
Clean, unprocessed WAV audio (48 kHz, 24-bit preferred).
Alternate takes of key lines may be requested.
Commercial usage for the game, trailers and associated marketing, subject to agreed licensing terms.
Paid opportunity — compensation negotiable based on experience and rates.
No AI voice cloning or voice model training without separate explicit consent.
Audition Direction
We are looking for a performance that can transition naturally from documentary storytelling into unsettling psychological horror.
Please prioritise natural delivery, carefully controlled pacing, meaningful pauses and emotional subtlety.
The final moments should leave the listener genuinely uncomfortable about what might exist beneath the ocean.

Seventy-one percent of our planet is covered by water. And yet... we have barely scratched the surface of what lies beneath.
Until something was discovered. An uncharted region beyond the known trench system. A place where survey data became inconsistent... and sonar failed to return a bottom.
No confirmed depth. No recorded bottom. They named it... the Barathrum Deep. To this day, no one knows how far it descends. Or what lies beneath.
