Doomsday Paradise: Indie Party Game Trailer

Doomsday Paradise: Indie Party Game Trailer

Project Overview

Introduction - The Game
Doomsday Paradise is a competitive multiplayer visual novel / party game where you put off saving the world in order to bum around with your friends. Gameplay wise, it's half relaxed visual novel and half strategy board game- with lots of flexibility to let you play how you like. The game itself is goofy and has a light hearted, relaxed atmosphere- something I'm hoping to showcase in the upcoming trailer!

I'd like to "officially" announce the game via a trailer- and for that I need two talented voice actors to help me pave the way. I'll be looking to capture just over a minute total of voicework between the two roles.

Here's the game's official Steam page- you can check out screenshots and get a feel for the atmosphere here!

Scope of Each Role
The first role is about selling the Narrative Hook- this is a game where you relax on a beachside paradise during the apocalypse. The first role should start with that "travel guide in a low budget commercial" feel before the curtain is pulled so to speak.

The second role is about selling the Gameplay Hooks- this is a game where you're making lots of choices that change the story and powering yourself up for combat- then trying to steal all the recognition. This role doesn't need to have the same range of "TV guide to panic attack" in their acting, but the most important thing is they make the game sound fun!

I'd like each VA to be of a different gender to make it easier to recognize the shift when it happens.

Auditioning
The roles have a fixed rate. The word counts are low, but I'm essentially going to be paying for about half an hour of your time to record them all so the rates will be locked at $35 for both.

Requirements
* Up to 3 takes for each line.
* Please do not slate your audition.
* Please submit auditions as .mp3 files.
* Please include your email address and Discord username, if you have one, with your audition- so I can contact you if you get the role!
* Please record in a quiet space free of background noise! I'll be using the takes to figure out how the final production will sound after all!

Getting Cast
Once you've been cast, if you agree to the role, you'll receive a quick contract establishing my rights to use the voice lines commercially, and solidifying payment terms and conditions. Upon signing the contract, you will officially receive the part.

Payment
Payment will be sent via PayPal after your lines have been recorded.

Further Voice Work
Not all of the game's voice work is a part of this casting call. There will be additional work in the future as more content is added, marketing on the project officially begins, etc., Feel free to reach out or hang around the Doomsday Paradise Discord channel if you want to be aware of any future casting calls for the project.

TV Travel Guide

Paid: Flat Rate 35 USD
Role assigned to: Nathan Wagner

This role is a little tricky - starting as a generic infomercial should be straightforward but "lifting the veil" and transitioning seamlessly to real, panicking person will take some skill to manage. Am open to any gender and pitch but the more "generic" the infomercially parts are the better. Aiming for TV travel guide, but in a very low budget commercial.

All of the lines for this role clock in at about 45 seconds.

  • [Infomercial-esque sales pitch for a beachside paradise]

Are you looking for your dream vacation? Tired of going to the same boring places with the same boring people? Well look no further than Sunset Town!

  • [Maintaining the infomercial style pitch, check out THIS luxury feature!]

You can even watch magnificent heroes do battle with terrifying monsters, preventing the apocalypse!

  • [An existential breakdown. The travel guide is no longer pitching- they now realize their life is in danger. The panic sets in. They're all going to die. This infomercial means nothing to you.]

Well then WHO’S GOING TO SAVE US? JANET? JANET? WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE AREN’T WE?

Janet / James the Gameplay Expert

Paid: Flat Rate 35 USD
cast offsite

Janet/James is the gameplay expert. After our poor trailer voice actor has a panic attack on set they step in to finish the trailer, explaining some of the gameplay to the viewer. The most important thing is that they sound like they're having fun.

The Monster Prom Teaser Trailer has an excellent take on this style of narration: https://youtu.be/koYQwQzJJ1s?t=53 It's not "epic" but it sounds like the VA is smiling the whole time- and that kind of unspoken smile is what I want to capture.

  • [Excited to showcase this cool THING you found]
    Welcome to Doomsday Paradise!

  • [This is the narrative hook in a sentence- Janet/James is excited about it and wants it to sound fun!]
Play with your friends as heroes who’ve decided to put off saving the world so they can bum around instead.

  • [Janet/James is very casual about the whole apocalypse thing. They're very excited about stealing credit though!]
And maybe after you get tired of goofing around and showing off- deal with that whole apocalypse thing. Or better yet- steal the credit!
