Doctor Aphra and Star Wars Annual 2 | Comic Dub (PAID ROLES)

Doctor Aphra and Star Wars Annual 2 | Comic Dub (PAID ROLES)

Project Overview

Star Wars Audio Comics is excited to announce that we will be continuing our Star Wars productions with the Doctor Aphra comic series from 2016! SWAC has been producing critically acclaimed comic series similar to these for four years, especially Star Wars content. We are thrilled to include this story in our lineup!

How it Works:
Suffice it to say, we have mastered bringing to life comics over our four year run on YouTube. We pride ourselves on our company's quality in both visuals, sound effects, music, and the most important part: the voice actors. All productions start with a highly detailed and descriptive casting call. Our typical policy is we don't cast actors until the last day of the call so everyone has plenty of time to audition. Our CC's typically last 2-3 weeks. At the end of the CC process, the Series Director will make the casting decisions based on a variety of factors such as audio quality, performance, vocal range, talent, etc. Once the casting decisions have been made, we send a link for a private Discord server where you will find your scripts, submit your lines, and meet and mingle with your fellow castmates. Deadlines will be posted for line submissions to allow voice actors time to first takes and if requested, retakes. From there it is up to the Director to bring the video to life. Production time will be as airtight as possible, so please try to have your audio in as quickly as possible so production can begin.

The Synopsis:
Following her time in the clutches of Darth Vader, Doctor Aphra has barely escaped with her life. If he ever learns of her survival, he'll hunt her to the ends of the galaxy. But for now, it's time for a return to what she does best. With the droids 0-0-0 and BT-1 in tow, she's off in search of rare artifacts from the galactic center to the Outer Rim and everywhere in between. Aphra's got debts to pay after all. Just as long as she can stay one step ahead of the Empire, some Bounty Hunters and just about everyone else in the galaxy!

Directors: Robert A. and Daniel P.

Ground rules:

- Please be able to get your lines in by the deadline posted by the director. Production time will be airtight!

- Have professional grade equipment or at the bare minimum make sure your audio is top notch. No background noise!

- Have a Discord or be able to create one. This allows for us to communicate and upload documents much easier than Skype or any other platform.

- Lastly, enjoy yourselves!

We look forward to hearing your performances!

We pay at a rate of $0.35 per line of dialogue, with a minimum payment of $1.05

Latest Updates

  • Thank you for all the auditions!

Just wanted to say, thank you for the huge amount of auditions! This is one of the largest numbers of auditions we have gotten for a project! Some of the roles were very hard to choose for. We still have some smaller roles to cast and then the extras. As always, if you didn't get a role this time, you can always audition for the next casting call! We will start announcing them on Twitter so follow us there if you want to get updates on that! https://twitter.com/SWAudioComics

Chelli Aphra
closed
Paid: Flat Rate 46 USD
Role assigned to: katastrofree

Chelli Lona Aphra is a human female archaeologist who was recruited by Darth Vader after the Battle of Yavin. Doctor Aphra, along with her assassin droid companions, Triple-Zero and BT-1, fulfilled several missions for the Sith Lord before falling out of his favor, and after faking her own death, now continues to roam the galaxy with the two droids.

Please be aware that Chelli is a lesbian character and will have some romantic scenes with women in this series. Also, we are recasting this role so please try to match the performance and voice by the previous actress for this role, Hannah Hellwig. Here's a video example of what you should try to match: https://youtu.be/3ec2jZcxvVE?t=28

As the titular character, she shows up in all 6 issues of this arc and has 133 lines, paying a total of $46.55.

  • It feels strange to actually be dealing in artifacts again. This is an object of genuine cultural importance. Stealing— I mean, recovering— something that can’t be used to kill people is kinda novel.

  • Triple-Zero! If I was interested in the moral instruction from an emotionless killer, I’d have kept working for Darth Vader.

  • As soon as I’m DOCTOR Aphra again, I have a little unfinished business. Well, my good droid, here’s some unique artifacts. Sell them to the highest bidder.

Pash Davane

Paid: Flat Rate 32 USD
Role assigned to: RobinRegs

*Note, this role is for Star Wars Annual 2.

Pash Davane, nicknamed Bash, is a human who lives on the planet Skorii-Lei. At some point the Rebellion destroyed the primary industry on Skorii-Lei, causing Davane to go from being an engineer to lifting crates. She owns a droid called Bruce.

She should sound tough and resilient, only wanting to stick to herself. But she has a soft side where she feels like she has to do the right thing and help others sometimes.

She has 92 lines in this Annual, paying a total of $32.20

  • Not much difference between the Empire and the Rebellion, if you ask me. Two sides of the same coin. A coin full of people that think they’re heroes to their respective cause. You know what heroes are good for? Getting a lot of other people killed.

  • I already helped you. I could have left you to drown where I found you. Instead I brought you here, fixed you up, even went out, at much personal danger to myself I might add, to get you some medicine.

  • I can see them for a moment the way she must. No longer just people. But instead living, breathing ideas all connected and unending. Stronger because they’re one. They’re sort of… beautiful.

Korin Aphra

Paid: Flat Rate 28 USD
Role assigned to: JarretGriffisVA

Korin Aphra is a human who lived during the Age of the Empire. He was the father of Chelli Lona Aphra, his daughter who was born to him and his wife Lona Aphra. During the Clone Wars, Lona had enough of Korin's obsession with his archaeological exploits so she and Chelli moved away to Arbiflux, where she ended up being killed by bandits. He is a dedicated scholar and continues to look for clues about the history of the Jedi.

His voice can be that of a middle-aged Asian father with a slight accent or it can be more "American" sounding.

He shows up in 6 issues of this arc and has 81 lines, paying a total of $28.35

  • Your questionable morality was always going to catch up with you eventually, beloved… So perhaps it’s lucky that someone who loves you was the person who uncovered your ethical lapse. And now we can look to your spiritual salvation…

  • The… Death Star? I’m sorry, I thought it was a story. Talk of a planet-destroying machine one day and the next it’s gone? I just didn’t give it much thought. If I came to you talking about a planet-destroying machine, you’d call me a fantasist… it was real?

  • Chelli, be careful. Be quick. Remember— it’s also the life support system. It will likely lead to the destruction of the whole citadel. And that will be the last we know of the Ordu Aspectu.

Eternal Rur

Paid: Flat Rate 10 USD
Role assigned to: SevenBoxes

Eternal Rur is the disembodied consciousness artificial intelligence of the deceased Jedi Rur that was stored in the Rur crystal, the former computer core of the ancient Ordu Aspectu's Citadel of Rur. Eternal Rur was discovered by Doctor Chelli Aphra and her father.

There are lines when Rur is alive in flashbacks and lines when he is just an AI consciousness in a crystal. The delivery of the lines should reflect this, so be sure to make him sound more etheral and ghost-like for the "Eternal" Rur lines.

He shows up in 3 issues of this arc and has 29 lines, paying a total of $10.15.

  • Life is what matters. We seek the life eternal. We cannot cast others into the void along the way. This is not heresy! Jedi always seek immortality. We are trying to save us all!

  • Torture can tear the answers from your impudent tongue.

  • I have lost everything. I had so many plans, such great designs, such weapons! They stole my life! I would have had an empire! They would have begged! They… I cannot punish the dead. I will punish the living.

Paid: Flat Rate 5 USD
Role assigned to: Jett Barker

Magna Tolvan is a human who serves as a captain in the Imperial military during the Galactic Civil War. Tolvan is a strict disciplinarian, and she values knowledge of and adherence to protocol.

Note that later on in the Doctor Aphra series, she develops a romantic relationship with Chelli Aphra so please make sure you are comfortable with that for the future of this series.

She shows up in 4 issues of this arc and has 17 lines, paying a total of $5.95.

  • Send out a speeder patrol on a standard route, and then change course to approach the signal. Let’s see if we can spit anything without alerting them. Put everyone else on standby.

  • Hmph. The hairy beast is a distraction. Disengage and rally at the great temple.

  • Lower your weapons. This area is under strict Imperial control. What are you doing here?

Paid: Flat Rate 4 USD
Role assigned to: BenjiSlow

Toob-Nix is a human who served as the Sava (a position similar to a professor) of the University of Bar'leth in the Core Worlds during the Age of the Empire. He chose to supervise Chelli Aphra's doctoral program, but not because he liked her. In his own words, he hates her.

His voice should be a certain British accent. Here is an audio clip of Sava Toob-Nix in the Doctor Aphra audiodrama so try to match this accent and tone: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10DVjLGMzxKGhRzK99G7_xTtL7DP7-iBC/view?usp=sharing

He shows up in 1 issue of this arc and has 12 lines, paying a total of $4.20.

  • Aphra! You are a doctoral candidate. Why are you sitting in with my undergrads?

  • So… you thought you had discovered a precursor settlement… but instead you found an old shed on a planet that is primarily known as being full of old sheds. Well done, Aphra. I’m overcome.

  • All those years mocking me, you never thought to ask why I selected you for my doctoral supervision… Because I was never going to let someone like you be a doctor. Not because of my standards. Not because your work is sloppy. Just because I hate you.

Paid: Flat Rate 3 USD
Role assigned to: Stewart7

Soo-Tath is a Cerean (same species as Ki-Adi-Mundi) male representative of an organization that Doctor Aphra owes payment to for her collection of secondhand bolts.

His voice can be a variety of things, but for inspiration, he might sound something like a shady used car salesman.

He shows up in 1 issue of this arc and has 11 lines, paying a total of $3.85.

  • Don’t you owe the fine organization I represent the first payment on your collection of secondhand bolts?

  • I think we’ll take it and find an archeologist of our own to sell it. Hand it over.

  • I’ll be here and waiting Aphra. Just hurry. We all know you’ve been hiding from Imperial attention… it’d be a shame if they happened to find out you were here.

Paid: Flat Rate 2 USD
Role assigned to: Brittanie Arwen

Susina was a friend of Aphra during her studies at the University of Bar'leth.

Her voice can be anything, just as long as she sounds like a college student.

She shows up in 1 issue of this arc and has 8 lines, paying a total of $2.80.

  • Oh, Aphra. No. No! It’d be so much better for you if you didn’t antagonize Sava Toob-Nix…

  • Sir! Amazing news. Aphra’s findings on Boothi XII. It’s… unprecedented. I can’t believe it! A vault full of Abersyn symbiotes. This is the biggest find in archaeo-xenobiology in centuries!

  • Aphra! I’m so proud! I’m going to devote my whole career to researching this. I’m going to find whatever it is on Boothi XII that negates the symbiotes. If it takes decades, I’ll be there for decades.

Amon was a human who was a member of the ancient Ordu Aspectu. He died during the Doom of the Ordu Aspectu, which occurred thousands of years before the Battle of Yavin. He was one of Rur's closest allies.

His voice can be a lot of things, just try to capture his fanatisism as part of this offshoot of the Jedi Order.

He shows up in 1 issue of this arc and has 4 lines, paying a total of $1.40

  • Rur! The Jedi have breached the fortress. We must deploy force.

  • Rur what are you saying? We have to kill them! It’s the only way! So what matters if we lie? It’s a small crime compared to our great desecration? We seek the life eternal—and we will sacrifice anything for that!

Quawei was a trader from whom Pash Davane bought medicine in the Skorii-Lei Fish Market.

She should have an elderly voice with a rough edge to it.

She has 5 lines in this Annual, paying a total of $1.75.

  • A name is what people call you. People call you Bash. So Bash is your name.

  • You sick? Because you look as strong as a Gundark.

  • Mix with water, heat it up, drink it all. Tastes foul, mix it in with strong tea, it’ll go down easier that way.

Various Extras

Paid: Flat Rate 1 USD
cast offsite

There are 14 total extras in Doctor Aphra 1-6 and 4 in Star Wars Annual 2, including Droids, Imperial Officers, Stormtroopers, etc. You may be considered for more than one extra. In addition, if you audition for other roles for this project, you may also be asked to do one or two of these extras.

Each of these small roles pays $1.05.

  • Female Jedi: Your heresy curdles into abomination. Rur… you were my friend. How could you do this?

  • Imperial Officer: Captain Tolvan… we’ve picked up some coded signals. Likely a rebel code. It’s a low-level pulse transmission captain. I don’t think they know we can hear them.

  • Analysis Droid: Ms. Aphra for now, your doctorate has been suspended. Until the confusion has been cleared. The archeological association is unable to verify any of your finds.
