Danganronpa: Raven's Call
Project Overview
Hi there friends! Voice Actor auditions are officially closed. However, art/staff/other auditions are still open indefinitely!
Danganronpa: Raven's Call is a Danganronpa fangame created by Vinnie (@davinniecake) and Cal (@enoshimaedits). It follows Yui Nakamura and her class of 15 other students who get stuck in an abandoned hotel, and are forced to kill each other in an attempt to escape.
We are looking for voice actors, various artists, and video editors in this casting call. *All roles will be unpaid!* This fangame will be fully voiced with sprites and other visuals and uploaded on the Danganronpa Raven's Call YouTube channel.
The only parameters to audition to be a voice actor are to have a good mic! It doesn't have to be professional-grade, but it should be clear and crisp, and we should not be able to hear background noise. You do NOT have to have any voice acting experience to be cast!

Yui Nakamura [YUU-ee naw-kuh-MUR-uh] is the protagonist of Danganronpa: Raven's Call. She is energetic, loving, and empathetic. She is trusting of everyone around her, sometimes overly so. She just wants everyone to get along and be friends.
For Yui, we're looking for a medium-high pitched voice with a lot of emotional depth. Her voice is sharp (with no breathiness) and varies in pitch due to how she is feeling.
We would appreciate it if you would improvise some trial lines [eg. "No, that's wrong!," "The killer is you," etc] as well!
[Adressing the viewer] "Oh, hi there! I suppose I should introduce myself, huh? I'm Yui Nakamura! My talent is the Ultimate DJ. I'll be the protagonist of this crazy story."
[Playfully annoyed, though still forceful] "Hey, hold on! I'm not that short! ... Okay, maybe I am that short. But I'm not the only one, Kigyo is what, 4 feet?"
[Emotional, feel free to add a bit of a cry] "Why... why are you doing this to us...? Making us kill each other? What do you have to gain from this... do you think it's... fun...?"
Rei Ishikawa [ray ee-she-KAH-wah] is a skeptical and suspicious character, who does not often show her emotions. She does not trust people easily. Though, a kind personality, like that of Katsuki, can occasionally get her to open up. She can appear a bit spooky and intimidating due to her talent as a Spiritualist.
For Rei's voice, we are looking for something medium-low, and soft. Feel free to add a bit of a breathy quality. She can be very forceful when she needs to be. Rei is the type of person to only speak when necessary.

[Unintentionally mysterious, fairly soft] "I suppose I should introduce myself... the name's Rei Ishikawa... Ultimate Spiritualist."
[This is spoken flatly with little interest] "What does my talent mean? Oh. I can communicate with the dead. It's not a big deal, really."
[Forceful and blunt] "Hold on. Everyone slow down, we need to think this through rationally. This trial is never going to proceed if we don't."

Min Sakai [mihn sah-KHAI [not sah-KAY]] is calm and rational in every situation. They are very selfless and keen on the emotions and feelings of those around them. They will go out of their way to help and serve their friends. They rarely know when to stop doing this, so they often forget to care for themself.
For Min, we are looking for a medium pitched, steady, neutral voice with a British accent. Their voice can lean slightly masculine, but we are aiming for something neutral. They are very gentle and soft in the way they speak.

[Spoken joyfully, though fairly neutral in tone] "It is a pleasure to meet you, miss Yui. I am Min Sakai, the Ultimate Waiter, at your service."
[Kind and appreciative] "Miss Orino, could you please join me in the kitchen? I would greatly appreciate your expertise."
[Forceful and sharp, but not too much] "You seem to be convinced that I'm the culprit, so I'll just have to prove to you all why I'm not!"
Orino Takada [oh-REE-no [not OR-ee-no] ta-KAH-da] is shy and quiet. She has very low self-esteem and often makes self-deprecating comments. Her biggest source of confidence is her baking, and she gets very sad when she does not bake something for a while. Orino is very inspired by and looks up to her peers, so she often bakes things that remind her of them.
For Orino, we are looking for a medium pitched, soft, breathy, and hesitant voice. Orino does not stutter, but she says um a lot and speaks slowly and carefully as if she has to think about every word for a moment.

[Unconfident and meek] "Oh, um, hi there....... I'm Orino, um, Orino Takada. I'm known as the Ultimate Baker...... it's, um, very nice to meet you"
[Shy but positive, with a bit of confidence] "If you want... I could um..... bake you something...? I like to, um, bake things for my... my friends..."
[Forceful in the beginning, but she loses momentum] "Wait...! Ah... sorry... I just... um... I don't think that's right... the timing doesn't, uh, line up..."
Takeo Yamaguchi [tah-KAY-oh ya-muh-GOO-chee] is goofy, hyper, and playful, and often boasts about his talent, rather than feeling bad about it. He tries to talk to and befriend those around him, but he knows that people are automatically suspicious of him due to his talent. He plays a lot of pranks and practical jokes, often citing his April 1st birthday as justification.
For Takeo, we are looking for a medium pitched (ever-so-slightly high) voice, with a bit of a nasally quality. His voice is sharp and often laced with sarcasm.

[His usual tricky, mischievous self] "I'm Takeo Yamaguchi, the Ultimate Thief. Hey, check your pockets! There might be something missing... Just kidding! For now..."
[Mocking] "Hahahahaha, Whaaaat? It was only a silly prank! Serious, what else would you expect from me? I was born on April Fools Day, after all!"
[Fairly emotional, changes to anger] "No... just no. This is so fucked up. You don't really expect us to put up with this... stupid bullshit!?"
Kigyo Gyokai (KEY-gyo GYO-khai) is very egocentric and dismissive. He views himself as above those around him, and does not shy away from making sure people know that. He dislikes talking to those that he does not deem worthy of his attention. However, he is smart and does have helpful moments.

Haru Otsuka [HAH-ru AHT-soo-kuh] is very sweet and protective of those around him. He cares greatly about the safety of his friends, and will always go out of his way to keep them from danger. This means that he can get tough when the situation calls for it. He is quite observant, and has keen eyes, due to his talent as a lifeguard. He also makes dad jokes. Lots of dad jokes.
For Haru, we are looking for a voice that leans slightly low and is generally calm and soft. His voice should be able to have lots of variety in emotion and slight variety in pitch.

[Kind and genuine] "Oh, Hi there! It's very nice to meet you, Yui! my name is Haru Otsuka, I'm titled the Ultimate Lifeguard. I hope we can get along well."
[Fairly relaxed and chill, he is trying to calm] "Hey hey guys, no need for us to argue over such silly things. I'm positive we can find a solution."
[Sadness that turns into determination] "I.. I don't want to do this.. this is too cruel.. I wanna go back home.. I.. I want to be there for my sister!
Katsuki Tamura [KAHT-soo-key TAH-mur-uh] is a bright and kind character, but very innocent and naïve. She often has trouble getting in control of her intense emotions, blinding her in certain situations. She loves to document and vlog things so she can relive memories of her and her friends.
For Katsuki, we are looking for a fairly high-pitched voice that is very upbeat with great diction. Katsuki often overemphasized and drawls out her words. If you want to add a very slight breathy quality to her voice, go for it!

[Cutesy and sweet, with a drawl] "Aww, that poem was absolutely phenomenal Haruka! You're super talented. But duh, of course you are. I wouldn't expect any less from the ultimate poet herself!"
[Incredibly overemotional, feel free to add a cry] "Please stop...! What are you saying? K... kill my friends to survive? I can't even think about that... this... this is too much!"
Anzu Kojima [AHN-zoo koh-JEE-muh] is always warm and welcoming to those around her. Her ability to keep cool and rational under pressure allows her to help those around her when they need it the most. She loves to occasionally throw around a funky accent or impression to make people laugh
For Anzu, we are looking for someone who can do a wide range of voices and accents. Her natural voice is fairly neutral in pitch and tone, hence why she likes to vary it a lot.
Please show us some different accents and voices that you can do! This is crucial to her character, so the more variety in your voice, the better. Feel free to improvise some trial lines :)
[Start in a Southern accent or a posh British accent. Transition into any other voice for the middle, and end in a cutesy anime-girl-esque voice] "Hi there, dearie, my name's Anzu Kojima! Haha, just kidding, that's not what I really sound like. Anywaysss, sorry! I can't seem to remember my ultimate talent for some reason. But I'm sososo happy to meet'cha!"
[Hyper and excitable] "Oh, oh, oh!!! Oh my gosh, guys, this reminds me of a fun story I know! Can I tell it, pleeease?"
[Begins slightly emotional, but she gains confidence and force by the end] "This... this situation is... horrific... but guys. We need to stay calm and keep a level head. We can't afford to let anyone fall into despair!"
Nento Kokoro [NEHN-toh koh-KOR-oh] is very antisocial and often keeps to himself. However, when he does speak up, he shows himself to be very smart, logical, and capable. He likes to use his talent to the advantage of his friends, often using it as a sort of therapy.
For Nento, we are looking for a medium-low voice that is incredibly level and smooth. It does not change pitch very often, and very steady. Nento's relaxing voice is crucial to his talent.

[Spoken calmly, with no anger] "Oh, hello. I'm Nento Kokoro. I am the Ultimate Hypnotist, pleased to meet you. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm attempting to focus on something, but I would be happy to talk later."
[Incredibly peaceful and level] "Listen carefully to my voice. I want you to focus all of your attention on it. Sharpen your mind to all of the different levels and tones. Feel yourself beginning to relax."
[Sharp and forceful, but not loud] "I am not interested in participating in a game that toys with people's lives."
Haruka Hirano [HA-roo-kuh he-RAH-no [not He-RAW-no]] is a wise and inspirational girl. She often makes motivational and poetic speeches in an attempt to rally her friends. She always speaks very eloquently and her knowledge of many things shines through often. She is not necessarily book-smart, but she has a lot of world experience.
For Haruka, we are looking for a high-pitched, breathy voice. Her voice should be smooth and soft with great diction. She occasionally speaks things in rhythm, like she is reciting verse.

[Spoken fairly rhythmically and whimsically] "Hmmmmmm, no, that's not the right word. Oh...! I am so sorry, I didn't notice you. I was a bit lost in thought. The scenery gave me an idea for a poem. Did you ask for my name? It's Haruka Hirano. You may have assumed, but I am the Ultimate Poet."
[The beginning should be spoken in iambic pentameter] "You all have been so kind to me thus far, I rea- hey...! That was iambic pentameter! Nice! ... oh, sorry, right, as I was saying before I interrupted myself, your kindness has spurred me to write a poem.
[Full of emotion] "Pl...please... cease this! I don't want to hear anymore. This is all too brutal and cruel. We never wanted a killing game!"
Izumi Matsou [ee-ZOO-me MAHT-soo] is very loud and proud. Her bold and energetic personality is always in full force, and she is not easily swayed. She's constantly motivated and eager to inspire her friends to get along and work together. She's a natural leader, and always approaches situations with a positive attitude.
For Izumi, we are looking for a loud, energetic, medium pitched voice. Her voice should vary in pitch and tone quite a bit, but always sound sweet and positive.

[The beginning is very loud, she quiets as the sentence goes on but loses no energy] "Heya Yui! It's super nice to meet ya'! I'm Izuuumi Matsou, Ultimate Softball Player! Hey, by the way, do ya' like any sports? I'd love to play somethin' with you sometime!"
[Fierce and angry, feel free to add some rasp if you can do that healthily] "No, shut up! I don't give a damn about anything you just said. Everyone, don't listen to them! I know we can get outta here if we all work together!"
[Gentler and calmer than usual] "Heya Misako, ya' look pale. I can tell you haven't been drinkin' nearly enough. C'mon to the kitchen with me, I'll whip you up a smoothie. What're your favorite fruits?"
Takumi Okamoto [tuh-KOO-me oh-kah-MOH-toh] is quite the procrastinator. He is fairly lazy and sleepy most of the time, but this is due to his very poor sleep schedule. He is often awake at night, where he attempts to get most of his work done. He yearns to be accepted and welcomed by his peers, but does not really know how to interact with people.
For Takumi, we are looking for a quiet, medium pitched voice. He should sound fairly tired and laid back (feel free to add some rasp sometimes to convey this).

[Sleepily at the beginning, but he sounds more awake at the end] "Umm hi. My name is Takumi Okamoto. I... don't know if you ever read my comics but... they sell pretty well in the market I guess. Oh wait, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to brag, you've probably never heard of me"
[Hesitant and unconfident] "Hey, guys, uh... this looks like fun and all but... I'm not really feeling like joining in right now... I'm super sorry. I hope this doesn't ruin anything."
[Fairly quiet but unwavering] "No... wait... Monokuma... can't you just kill me and get this all over with? Everyone here has such bright futures! They have so much to do, and so much to live for!"
Daigo Ito [DYE-goh EE-toh] is very mature and smart. He often seems more like a teacher than a student, as he will go out of his way to explain things to anyone confused. He is very passionate and eager to talk about his love of animals to anyone who will listen. He has an emotional support snake named Asmodeus who he always has with him.
For Daigo, we are looking for a medium-low, calm voice with great diction. Daigo often speaks as if he is explaining something.

[Spoken with calm excitement and curiosity] "Ah, Yui, was it? It's fantastic to meet you. I am Daigo Ito, I work as a Zoologist. I hope to get to know you more on this trip."
[Reassuring but explanatory] "My snake? His name is Asmodeus. If you're curious, he is a corn snake. No need to be cautious around him, he isn't dangerous, especially if you present yourself as a friend, not a threat. He may bite, but his teeth are small, so it won't hurt more than a cat scratch"
[Firm and strict] "Everyone, this is devolving into chaos! Don't you see? That's exactly what Monokuma and Monosune want. We can't let them win. We need to show them that we won't succumb."
Chikage Hyodo [chee-KAW-gae HYOH-doh] has a sharp wit to him. He appears to be laid back a lot of the time but isn't afraid to speak his mind. He has narcissistic tendencies, and occasionally makes offhanded vulgar jokes, but he's usually well-meaning. Beneath this exterior, he genuinely does care about those around them, but he doesn't always show it.
For Chikage, we are looking for a medium voice that leans slightly low. To describe his tone, all I can really say is toned-down Regina George. He always speaks sharply and with fairly good diction, as he's used to talking on camera.

[Spoken dismissively, like he gets this all of the time] "Let me answer your questions before you ask. One, yes, I am Chikage Hyodo, Ultimate Makeup artist. Two, no, I do not have time for autographs or photos right now. Three, yes, it was hard to find my perfect foundation shade."
[Slightly hushed, like he's gossiping] "Hey, Misako, come here for a sec. You're like, the most interesting person in this room by far. Clearly. We've really gotta collab sometime. It's only like our audiences have been asking for years."
[Mocking] "Hah, you all are fools. This just seems like a cliche prank inspired by some low-budget horror movie. Y'all better not fall for this bullshit."
*We do not currently have a sprite for her, so we have used a concept sketch so you all could still see what she looks like!
Misako Murakami [me-SAW-ko mur-uh-KAW-me] is hotheaded and bratty and is never afraid to speak her mind. She does not mean to offend, but her harsh personality often does. Behind her tough exterior, she gets scared by many things, though she always tries to mask that fear. She is actually incredibly smart and sharp, but you can rarely tell because of her rudeness.
For Misako, we are looking for a medium-pitched, bratty voice. She always speaks as if her words are laced with venom, so she should sound sharp and blunt. She occasionally talks fast as well.

[Take this in whatever direction you'd like!] "Hey, bitch! The name's Misako Murakami, the Ultimate Hairstylist. Hmm... I usually charge a hell of a lot for a cut and style, because you won't get a result as good as mine anywhere, but... I think I'd be willing to give you 50% off, I'm dying to fix... whatever you've got going on there."
[100% mean and judgemental] "Fucking EW! What's that nasty ass smell? Hey, Daigo, have you been lettin' your dumb snake sleep in your hair again?!"
[The beginning is almost profound-sounding, but the end is just fully defensive] "The culprit obviously killed her in one location, and then moved her body. Hey, don't look so fuckin' surprised! If you'd shut up for once in your damn life, you'd know that I've got a fuckin' brain too!"
*We do not have a sprite for Monokuma, so we have just used one of his canon bear sprites. He will have new sprites for DRRC though!
This is a humanoid version of Monokuma. He has the same personality and voice as Monokuma from the games. If you'd like to take his voice slightly lower, you can, but we are looking for something that resembles his canonical voice fairly closely!

Monosune has two different personas that she presents. The first persona is cutesy, sweet, and bubbly. You could almost forget that she is actually an evil robot fox with how harmless she seems. Sometimes, however, her personality turns dark and cold, especially when she is reminding people of the reality of the killing game.
For Monosune, we are looking for someone who is able to do two distinct voices. The first voice should be high-pitched and bubbly. Feel free to add a breathy quality if you'd like. The second voice should sound dark, low, and mysterious, and contrast completely from the first voice.
[In her cute and bubbly voice] "Hello hello hello to all of you lovely students! Weeelcome to Raven's Inn! I am your friendly lil' mascot, Monosune! I act as Monokuma's assistant, so if you need anything, I'm here for ya'!"
[In her cute voice as well, but feel free to use her dark voice for the 'good luck'] "A body has been discovered! After a certain amount of time, which you may use however you like, the class trial will begin! Good luck..."
[In her dark voice] "Heh... heh... heh... don't you all understand? You're all going to die! Maybe you'll die quickly, or maybe, your death will be slow... painful... agonizing... ahaha!"
We are looking for a few sprite artists that can help us sketch, line, color, and shade the sprites for this fangame! In your application, please attach some examples of Danganronpa sprites you have created. They don't all have to be finished! Sending progress shots would also be appreciated, so we can see where your strengths lie.

We are looking for some artists who can draw Danganronpa-style CGs, Body Discovery Announcements, OR Executions. When we say CGs, we are referring to fully rendered art pieces depicting a single still scene [eg. the scene of Rantaro painting Kaede's nails, the bath scenes, this is the style we are referring to]. Executions will not be animated, so don't worry if you can't animate, but can draw in the execution-style! In applying for this role, please send some examples of CGs you have drawn. Please include at least one, or part of one, fully rendered CG in your application. If you have a preference on if you work on CG, BDA, or Execution art, we can discuss that further!

For this role, we are looking for someone who can draw backgrounds. By backgrounds, we are referring to the scenes you see behind the sprites of the characters, like hallways, classrooms, and more. In applying for this role, please send examples of backgrounds that you have drawn. These can be in the style of the Danganronpa backgrounds, or in a similar style. We just want to see that you have the potential to be able to draw them for us!

For this role, we are looking for people who are able to compose music that sounds like it is from Danganronpa. We are also interested in finding people who know how to remix preexisting music, as we will be using some remixed Danganronpa tracks in this project.
